1 Introduction 1.1 Motivation 1.1.1 About MTU Friedrichshafen/ Rolls-Royce Power Systems AG Will include the standard MTU profile. I will get it in a week’s time. 1.1.2 Motivation to take up the project The changing market, worldwide supply chains, increased complexity and shorter life cycle of the products, are among the few challenges faced by a company on a regular basis. MTU Friedrichshafen, a core German brand of Rolls-Royce Power Systems AG, also faces the similar challenges and wants to upgrade itself to Industry 4.0 standards in order to find solu-tions to the rising complexities. Rolls-Royce Power System AG is heading at this direction through its future program called ‘Rolls-Royce Power Systems 2018’. The program aims at the development of digital solutions and customer oriented digital service applications, which will transform most of its current business processes into digitized processes [RRPN13]. The current planning process of the engine’s assembly is carried out manually. This includes the planning and structuring of the assembly sequence, assembly part planning in the as-sembly stations and information updating in the ERP system.
