Christian children: 13 Ways to Raise Godly Children
Christian children are God’s Army for the next generation. How much training have you given to your children? How prepared are the children in the church today?
I noticed that the moral attitude of children in many places across the world is bad. And there is less improvement in the lives of so many Christian children. This scary development breaks my heart, and I would like to share some vital points with Christian parents on this platform today.
To raise godly children is a great challenge. Training a child involves the process of repetition, encouragement, and reinforcement.
The act of training Christian children is not all about writing a long list of instructions to your children, but the godly transformation starts with you (the parents).
1. You must

Teach your children boundaries, and give them the liberty within those boundaries. That teaches independence, but also self-control and respect for authority.
3. Guide them to know how to read the Bible from their toddler age. The best guide for training Christian children for good character and godly lifestyle are loaded in the Bible.
2Timothy chapter 3 verse 16 to 17 says: “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
4. Don’t irritate your children. Your decisions should be fair and just. Colossians chapter 3 verse 21 says: “Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.”
5. Idle threats is toxic, for instance: “If you shout again, I will break your
Ultimately, parents are responsible before God for their child; however, it is the role of the church and the school to support the parents in their God given responsibility. In Kingdom education, these three cords must work in harmony to
When it comes to the education of children, there are numerous fundamental factors, to mention a few: parents, teachers, the student himself, curriculum, methodology, culture, and the Holy Spirit. Students must first take responsibility for their own education and desire to learn. Even though this key educational factor is not a prerequisite for learning, all students must eventually hunger for learning or it will never take root in their lives. Responsible teachers must use responsible materials and methodology in order for purposeful education to have a lasting impact. Teachers must use their divine calling and materials that “are not sugar-coated, censored, vacuous and dry, nor merely politically correct” (Holtrop) to challenge this current generation of students. While secular humanism views children as inherently good, we know that scripture teaches that all mankind to be innately evil, a
For several consecutive summers, I supervised a small group of preschoolers, kindergartners and first graders during the Saint Rose of Lima’s annual Vacation Bible School. Throughout this weeklong program the students participated in an assortment of enrichment activities that furthered their understanding of the Roman Catholic Bible and its teachings. They had the opportunity to read and discuss passages from the Bible, sing religious songs, complete arts and crafts projects and perform skits based on that year’s themed curriculum.
What makes a child, a child goes hand in hand with the different models of childhood. Two out of the many models I chose to go in depth with are the “Sacred Child,” and “the Romantic Child.” There’s a distinction between the two models, however sharing the commonality of innocence. The Romantic Child is the idea that children should have the freedom to play, the love for childhood, to explore, and to imagine. They are bound to face some disappointment along their journey into adulthood. Theres the idea that “children see what adults can’t.” As for the Sacred Child, the child is viewed as precious and admired. So precious they are in need of protection. The idea that the children learn not to be risk takers, a sense of forgetfulness when it comes to problem solving. The
When these children come to school, they will follow a good leader. They will thrive in a loving environment. For some of these children, we are the only God that they will ever see. By this I mean, we must show the love of God in everything we do, he must be ever present in our daily lives. Some of the children may have never experienced a Christian environment, and they need it more than ever, and it’s our job to provide it for them.
• If you have an opportunity to speak about Jesus and the child has either: professed faith in Jesus before or make a decision when you are talk with them, we will have follow-up growth tracts. These tracts are not to be given randomly due to the fact we don’t have many of them.
The same director is in charge of birth through 4th grade. This particular age group looks at three questions. 1) God loves me. 2) God made me. 3) Jesus wants to be my friend forever. All of the lessons and activities are geared to helping the students recognize and understand these three basic truths. These are from the curriculum, but the church feels these are foundational truths that are important for the early childhood children to know. They also help the children look for ways they can apply these truths in their own lives. For example, this month they are focusing on “Jesus wants to be my friend forever,” and the lesson looked specifically at how everyone needs Jesus and how Jesus can help us when we need
When attempting to meet the spiritual needs of your child, it is important to remember that children see spiritual health in a different light than adults do. Some children have no problem communicating with their own God while other child feel as if God has left them behind.
What do children have as a weakness, as a result of religion playing a role in the parenting styles of how they grow up? Children are very important in the world today being that they are the next generation to lead the next kin of children, which are starting to slowly grow up. In the world, religion is a major component in the lives of many ethnic groups of people. Religion represents a large portion of the world, approximately 84% of the population (Harper, 2012). When children grow up in a religious setting or have attained a religious background, they have different views than children who do not have a religion that they conform to. Children who associate with having a religion generally are accompanied with having a parental guardian
The children/youth had great ambitions and goals for their future. Therefore, I encouraged them to keep God in their life and to obey their parents, teachers, and their leaders. Therefore, being obedient is valuable, and it will take them a long way in life, and help them to become successful. However, some stated they wanted to play different sports; others wanted to become doctors, and lawyers. I replied always keep God first in your life; whatever your dreams always seek the Lord and He will direct your path. They were encouraged and they were determined to do their part, and to depend on the Lord to bring it to pass. The younger children had great expectations too. They wanted to be teachers, doctors, and nurses. They also said; I can do all things through Christ which strengthened me.
* Know your child and be willing to serve as a strong Christian role-model for them.
In regards to understanding the Gospel and who God is, Children need to have a firm understanding of basic theological concepts as they are beginning to form an understanding of God. They need to wrestle and be able to answer some questions: Who is God?, Who Did God create me to be?, and What is my relationships with others based on who God is and how he has created me? These question are certainly not comprehensive, but I think these three areas, God, identity, and relationships are often ones that children seek to understand in order to make sense of the world they live in. By looking and exploring these questions, children will have a foundational understanding of who God is, their identity in Christ, and how this effects
Parenting methods have been affected by numerous factors over the years. Parenting is something that is obviously successful or in the worst case, has failed miserably! We found that the parents' religious affiliation affects the way they raise their children. "The particular theologies theory posits that different religious affiliations put varying efforts into emphasizing family-formation strategies" (Pearce 2002: 325). Religious affiliations, inspired parents to be fervent on implanting strong morals, maintaining close relational ties within their family, and encourage positive community involvement with their particular religious affiliation.
Christians are God’s social workers, so there is a heightened sense of responsibility in regards to guiding the youth of future generations. God is the Supreme Psychologist and His words provide the wisdom needed to avert and counteract the negative influences of this world. “Counseling needs Christian DNA if it is to call people out of the death spiral of self-preoccupation” (Powlison, 2012, p. 19). For centuries, Spiritual and Religious leaders have conceded that our vessel [body] can be codified by the actions of language, words, and thought forms; “Scientific evidence now supports this and has proven that our DNA can be reprogrammed by words and frequencies” (Fosar & Bludorf, 2001, p.
As we go through our day by day lives in a very secular world, I believe it is very easy to question ourselves as Christian educators. We ask ourselves if we are doing our jobs exactly to God’s calling. Are we striving to teach the truth? And with that, what is truth? According to Gaebelein in his book The Pattern of God’s Truth, “All truth is God’s truth.” As educators we are called upon to cultivate “Christlike minds” (Moreland). This is quite the task, especially given our surrounding circumstances and constant secular environment. Not only are we, as educators surrounded by this secularism, but our young, adolescent students are as well. So, how do we accomplish such as task of guiding
