Based on your examples from each principle of effective communication (General, Interpersonal and Written), describe the potential barriers (problems) to effective communication in the presentation, as well. Remember to state the problem and then how this can affect communication.
Introduction
I am going to describe how communication skills are used effectively in the presentation.
General Communication Skills
General communication skills are a way of expression or exchanging ideas and thoughts between people. We can use the different techniques of communication skills such as cultural differences, adapting to audience, format of the language, accuracy of the related topic, engaging an audience and be aware of the time zone. All these skills should be properly used between each others.
Cultural differences
It is known that cultural differences exist between people with different national traditions, languages and religions. People may behave according to their own beliefs and this may look unusual. People may misunderstand each other. For example Scottish and English have different accents. The words are pronounced with a different dialect.
Other countries may have to use different meanings of the same hand gestures during the presentation. For example same hand gestures can have a lot of different meaning in countries as United States of America means OK, Japan means money, Russia means zero and in Brazil you can insult someone.
Adapting

Based on the positive and negative skills I learned in our group discussion, first, I decided to action plan to develop my skills in communication by, reading books about good communication skills. I think clarifying my objectives and finding common grounds are important for me to improve my communication (Baker, 2013). In other words, explaining what is the purpose of the conversation and building a good rapport with the other person while communicating. Therefore, I decided to find a way to reduce my fear and anxiety and talk confidently with my mentor, service users and other professionals, while I am out for placement (Rhodes, 2013).
Many people are not aware of the communication skills that they lack, most will argue that they have perfect communication skills. Taking interpersonal communication has taught me that my skills are very poor. I walked in thinking there was nothing I can learn about communication and realized that I know little to nothing about communication. Since starting this class I’ve narrowed the skills I need to work on to the following four which includes listening, being more supportive and active, understanding, and improving my self concept. Although all four of these skills are something I can improve I think listening is my main problem.
There are four basic barriers that hinder effective communication, emotional barriers, physical barriers, semantic barriers, and ineffective listening. All of these barriers separately or combined can contribute to a lack of effective communication.
Communication is a two way process and is the basis of all relationships irrelevant of the nature of communication. With everything that we have studied during this class, I found that keeping an open mind and thinking outside the box is the easiest way to approach certain situations that require a special need for communication skills. "Although, our communication skills will always change throughout our lives because of our constantly changing self-concept and perceptions. I have been using strategies like actively listening and proper assessments, as a way to achieve a flexible style effectively communicating. To me, good communication skills with a positive attitude open the doors to a successful career that is beneficial to any organization, but more importantly a way of knowing and understanding those around you.
In chapter nine you get into the development of language and communication skills, which is a difficult concept in the beginning for the mothers and daughters. At first, the mothers and daughters didn’t have the best communication skills due to the conflicts they went through. Although, when it comes to the resolutions of their problems, the mothers use semantics and syntax to give what they say meaning. Their daughters want to understand their mothers, at the same time the mothers want their daughters to understand them. This helps the daughters in many ways due to the fact that they want to feel meaning when their mothers speak instead of dysfunction. There are many different types of communication skills. Communication skills are a vital part of most people's daily lives. We tend to use communication skills in everything we do, for example, listening, friendliness, confidence, empathy, respect and sometimes even non-verbal communication. I try to use good communication skills in everything I do because I know it will benefit me not only in present day but in the future. By using these skills I have learned that it makes it easier to communicate with others along with that it makes a personal connection with whoever you are speaking to.
Our presentation talked about the importance of “engaging” our customers. Discuss what that means and why is it important to engage our customers? What would you do to engage a customer and get their attention and commitment?
Being in a relationship, I noticed that communication is key. However, there are other numerous factors that play a substantial role in the relationship. I believe in three simple things.

For a nurse, effective communication is important in the nursing process.
