Microsoft vs. Apple
Microsoft vs. Apple has always been a topic up for debate. Both companies or at the top of their game when it comes to selling products. Apple and Microsoft provide great products, which is why they lead the market today. It wasn’t easy for Apple in the beginning though. They went against a powerful Microsoft brand that wasn’t letting anyone take their spot. However, in recent years, they’ve gotten ahead of Microsoft and have taken the lead. Apple is more towards the consumers whereas Microsoft plays a bigger role in today's business aspect. I've always been a fan of Microsoft over Apple. A few reasons for that is Microsoft's software, customization, as well as being able to upgrade your computer specs. Now I know you're

Both sell PCs, laptops, handheld devices, etc. Which equates to being able to sell to a large market. No matter how you look at it they both do what's needed to meet the consumer's wants. Both these companies have two major creations which are used by many. For Apple it’s their IPhone series. It’s crazy to see how many people have IPhone. I want lie sometimes I want it just to say I have it. Microsoft on the other has the Surface which, to me, has excelled because we all want to know is it a tablet or a p.c. No matter how you look at it these two powerhouses produce great products.
Everyone has their own opinions about these two companies. There’re so many differences and comparisons that were left untold. Sorry Apple users I still prefer Microsoft. If I could I would have an Apple design with Microsoft’s software. However , I like the competition that these two have. When you think about it, Competition brings longevity to these companies. It pushes them to limits to where they have to adjust a pass that. It as a war So maybe we shouldn’t look at it as a war, but a battle of creativity. We should praise them for being able to keep up with our
One feature that Apple offers that Microsoft doesn’t have is ITunes and an App store which offer customer to buy as much music as they want to be stored on their phone, iPod or computer or mac. This means that Apple appeals to a larger target group and can get more business. One feature that
Microsoft has their dominance of the industry at stake. They could potentially come out on top if left to continue their current tactics. They are masterfully “marketing their products” and it is paying off for them (Love, 1997).
Most of the people see Apple computers as “fancy expensive toys” but in fact they are beautiful and powerful tools. I have used both, in fact I started using Windows and of course being basically a monopoly everybody was forced to use windows by those days. The first version of windows I ever use was Windows 3.1 and despite almost every new version (except by ME and Vista) was in some ways improved it never reached the performance and stability of a OSX system. Lot of “ hardware connoisseurs” can say wait a minute! Apple computers have better hardware, but this was true until some years ago. Nowadays, most of PCs have similar or even more powerful hardware.
Microsoft has grown into an enormous and powerful corporation by a combination of aggressive business practices and having written operating systems (DOS and Windows) for personal computers. From operating systems it branched out into other software which has, along with the operating system, become something of an industry standard.
Another competitive strategy that could be considered would be increasing the target audience. Microsoft has consent to make a bold play for the workplace while leaving the school market open for Apple. The idea was that if adults were using Microsoft OS at work all day, then they would be more likely to purchase the OS for their home PC. This was a good strategy in the beginning but may need to be changed for future sales. Microsoft will have major competition with Apple over the next five years because schools of all levels are expected to switch from computers to iPads. This may possibly hurt Microsoft’s future sales because as the students enter the real world they will continue to depend on Apple for their future computer needs (Hughes, 2011).
This is a difficult market to engage. Looking at the likes of a Google and Apple, which are in this market, their systems are just as beneficial. In addition, a better operating system than Windows would come from the likes of Apple. This company has been abele to produce an operating system like no other, by appealing to those individuals such as early adopters and convincing them that that there technology is the next best thing. With that said, it will be hard for Apple to unseat Windows due to their ability to allow a compatibility with any system no matter the computer or device, which reduces inefficiency within the organization. Apple can take one thing into consideration when trying to implement their OS amongst the world, which is focus on the target audience and organizations for which a market share can be built. This may include the likes of the military due to Apples OS being one of the fastest thus allowing for lower levels of viruses. Also the youth, seeing that are appealed to new technology. In the end Apple have controlled the hardware & software bundles and model updates, so every Mac operates smoothly without worry on lagging,
Windows” (“Microsoft: Court’s…). Microsoft implies that there still is competition; such as Mac OS, Linux, and other operating systems. Though this claim may have support, the “District Court found that Windows accounts for a greater than
Microsoft is a highly diversified company. Its technologically-related products span from software to music players to game consoles to web browsers to search engines to phones. However, its flagship product, the product which has been the primary driver of its profits has been Microsoft Windows, the ubiquitous operating system that runs on virtually every computer in the world. Windows has been deemed so critical that even Microsoft's competitor Apple was effectively forced by market pressures to allow its Macs to run Windows, in an effort to boost sales. "As astounding as Apple's success has been, it hasn't put a dent in the Microsoft Office monopoly. [Current CEO] Ballmer and company still profit on every Macbook running Word, Excel and PowerPoint" (Greg 2012).But while Microsoft continues to make its highly profitable Windows products (despite industry criticism about its user features); it has struggled to diversify in its many critical areas, most notable in its music, phones, and Internet service.
In 2014 both Apple and Samsung sold a combined total of about 108.2 million units of their products! Samsung sold about 71 million units while on the other hand Apple sold 94.75 million units. For the past few years, the competing and comparison between Apple and Samsung was at its maximum. Fights started between people to prove an idea about which company is the best but they did not know that they were only comparing their smartphone. That is not the only thing a person should concentrate at while comparing two of the biggest multinationals in the world. People should look at the sales of all of the company’s products, their profits and losses, the history of the company, and the reviews of the people about their
Microsoft has been fighting competitors in the Operating System fields as well as the Search field for many years. After Apple launched its new Macintosh computer, Microsoft came out with its first production of Windows which had a graphic user interface. Microsoft had 95% of all OS on individual PC’s in the 2000’s where apple only had about 2%-3% (Rivkin 2). A new venture that Microsoft was working toward was application software where the produced Microsoft Word and Excel. At first these two applications where not very popular on PC computers because WordPerfect and Lotus 1-2-3 where the main applications being run. Microsoft’s solution to this competition was
Microsoft Corporation’s profitability ratios: Figure 2. From 2012 to 2013, Microsoft Corporations profit margin increased roughly 5%, although there was a slight decrease from 2013 to 2014, the profit margin still increased nearly 2.5% overall. Their return on assets experienced a decrease of over 1% due to a sizeable increase in inventory on the books, similar to Apple Incorporated. Microsoft Corporation’s return on equity also decreased by nearly 1% between 2012 and 2014 due to sizeable increases in the amount of equity held in the company.
The website is well organized, making it very simple to find what a person is looking for. Unlike Microsoft, it is well spaced, which helps to grab the reader’s attention. Microsoft’s homepage is setup fairly differently from Apple’s. Instead of having a main ad like Apple, its site has a set of highlights advertising their information. Highlights do not catch a reader’s attention as well as Apple’s large ad. Furthermore, Microsoft’s homepage is also packed with a lot of information in such little space. The information is broken down into bullet points, but the font is small and there are hardly any images to differentiate between the items. There is little to attract the reader to make him/her want to read through this content because it just appears to be boring. Therefore, the homepage of Apple and Microsoft differ.
Despite this Mac has continued to gain popularity in the market. It 's programs have proved to be more stable than Windows, as a result of this hardware for the systems generally last longer as well. This is due to the fact that Mac systems have more features that monitor and regulate the activities, temperatures, and functions that can wear a system down faster. Mac computers also become known for their vivid aqua screen. Because of this many graphic designers, special effects editors, and even musicians have switched to using Mac computers. Even despite their price, which to this day remains higher than the competition, Mac still shares a steady part of the market and its popularity continues to grow. One of the biggest things that has kept Apple very competitive in the market is their version of the tablet. They have also developed the iPhone and the iPod. Apple was the first to not only create these devices but also they made these devices work with each other in a way that no other company has done with any of their devices before.
* Apple has the customer base mainly in the United States that is devoted to the company and its brands.
Just as you cannot judge a book by its cover, you cannot do the same when it comes to a computer. Both, Apple and Microsoft, have their very own separate operating windows. For Apple it is Mac for short. For Microsoft, it is called Windows. Both provide the same function, the ability to give commands and operate a computer. The difference between these two is that Mac is much known for its great coded scripts in its operating
