Two Rivers is a campground not too far from Sartell, I have been there countless times throughout my childhood. It is called two Rivers because the Mississippi River and the Platte River connect at a bay that surrounds the entire campground. The Platte River is much smaller than the Mississippi, which makes it popular to tub on, like a giant lazy river at a water park. Tubing on the River is one of the most popular activities, with that you can also canoe and kayak. Most years the water in low and slow with some rapids, but this year it was particularly fast. In my youthful years I did a lot of camping and every fathers day weekend my family would celebrate by camping with two other of our closest family friends. Every single year we would …show more content…
At some point on this 3 hour round trip we came across a massive tree that was over hanging and blocking most of the river. Immediately, the Garmans moved swiftly out of the way, and my canoe followed directly behind following and learning their every move. On the right side the tree was incased by rapids that crashed and flowed beneath the thick branches of the gnarled looking oak. The Martens on the other hand didn’t have time to turn and avoid the tree, soon enough they were headed strait for it. All four of them hit a branch at full speed as I saw them grab a branch and hoist themselves up and safety clime away from the water. All at the same time the 17 foot metal canoe disappears like a magicians wave of the wand. Dumbfounded, we all realize the canoe was sucked down into the water under the tree, and everything went still. Suddenly, Austin and I are on a sand bank along with all the Garman kids, our fathers go and get the marten girls and bring the back to us. All three dads try to pull the canoe free and give up after 10min as they realize it wont budge. And we were trapped, there is no way we can fit everyone on just 2 canoes, and we had no way of getting it out. The canoe was caught, and suctioned under water that was moving dangerously fast, and all plans seemed to fail. I remember thinking about how long it
The Missouri River can be a wonderful yet terrible place. So much joy can be experienced from being on the river, but at the same time, so much destruction can happen. I have had both wonderful and terrible experiences on this river.
The well known Grand Canyon wasn’t always grand. About 6 millions years ago there live a princess called Artemis, she loved a lot of things like hunting, wilderness, and animals. Her kingdom was located in the territory now called, Arizona. She always had her trusty bow and arrow everywhere she went. She hunted so much that she would bring extra animals to feed the poor. But her father didn’t like that, he was selfish and forbade her to feed the poor anymore. He wanted her daughter to be normal, like wear dresses, have proper manners, and be quiet like every princess should be. She didn’t like that, her passion was to hunt, and possibly become a warrior with her true love. The fault with that dream she had no true love.
It was March 21st, 1765 and everything in the colony of South Carolina was as usual. I was walking back from the main store in the middle of town, I had gone to the store for some flour. I got home and helped my mother with dinner. The Seven Years War had ended a few years ago and the colonies are still recovering. The British Crown has put the sugar and currency acts on us but there are no real disruptions here.

The driver, Cecilia Blair, of vehicle 1 was traveling north through the intersection of N. State St. and Flint St. when she had a collision with vehicle 2. The driver, Jacqueline Muir, of vehicle 2 was heading west on Flint St. when she was struck by vehicle 1.
It was a rainy day in Little Rock, Arkansas. Madison, 13, sat in her room for most of the day. Her mom, Amanda, came in her room and said she’s going to the store and wanted to know if she wants to go. Since it was a boring rainy day she agreed. They got in the van and went on their way. They arrived at walmart , and started to get their groceries. Madison passed by the jewelry and scarves then saw something. It looked fuzzy, so what 13 year old wouldn’t be interested by that? She looked and it was a rabbit’s foot. She didn’t know too much about the superstition, she just knew it was supposed to bring good luck and sort of believed it but only really wanted it because it matched her backpack and it was fuzzy. She told her mom that she wanted
Florida was a type of hell I'll never come back to. I'm glad I left. Even though it was bought in 1819, some fifty years ago, I was in need of new gullible breed to hustle. Florida had been sucked dry by Jeff “Hands” McCoy. Admittedly, I miss my partner in crime and my adventures would have been a lot more…. well, adventurous. Fred, I’ve missed your expert ability to handle the people with ease, which I'll never be able to do. I honestly expected for this trip to only last a year or two. I had never thought that it would be, what, ten years. Looking back, I don't think I would've changed one bit of the journey. Maybe in the next couple years or so I'll be able to come and visit you over a Transcontinental Railroad. I hear that Congress may
To the man who left her because her depression was unfair to him, she wrote this one for you.
It was August of 1829 in Mississippi. Men were harvesting corn and beans. The smell of the Choctaw own acorn bread filled the air. All the children were prancing about, playing with friends, shooting squirrels with their little toy bows, and wrestling for the last bite of jerky. All but one child. That lonely little boy’s name was Koi. Koi never got to play with the other Choctaw boys, as he had to prepare to become chief.

The streets of South Bellevue are some to never be forgotten. The neighborhood is filled with the joyous laughter of children and the archaic wisdom of the elderly. It is one of the few amicable communities among the busy city. Bellevue shields it’s people like a mom who graciously protects her young from the dangers of the outside world. Bellevue is a wonderful neighborhood with a variety of individual experiences.
There is one magnificent place where I like to fish more than anywhere else on this earth, and that is the Theodore Industrial Canal. This place is not your stereotypical beautiful fishing paradise, this place is different for the banks are lined with industries made of worn down metal barges. To some this may seem like an eye sore or nothing special at all, but I see a haven for the monstrous fish who call the deep dark depths of this canal home.
What comes to mind when you think of Flint, Michigan? I think of a city filled to the brim with crime and thousands of unemployed workers. A place where you can’t use the water in your own house because you are afraid of getting lead poisoning. As it was once deemed the worst place to live in all of the United States, it is probably hard to think of a time where it was any different. Well, Flint was not always this way. Believe it or not, it used to be a prosperous and beautiful city that was home to one of the richest businesses in the world, General Motors. So you might be wondering, “Why did this amazing place turn into the wasteland it is today?”. Everything that is happening in Flint right now is due to the horrible decision Roger Smith
We then hopped back on our bikes and took the short ride over to Maybelle’s Diner which overlooked the village square. Once inside, a pretty waitress not much older than me walked up to us in her pink and white striped uniform, straight out of the 1950’s. She handed us a couple of menus while telling us her name and asking what we would like to drink. I had asked for a sweet tea, and my mama got a diet Coke (Pepsi). Then, the waitress walked off leaving us there to study our menus even though I had already known just what it was I wanted to have, chicken wings. I had always heard my whole life that if you should ever find yourself up near the Buffalo area, you had to try the wings. So, I reckoned Mt. Harrison was about as close to Buffalo
As you are walking down the sidewalk in Cleveland you feel something cold hit your left ear. You look over and realize that it was only one of the many snowflakes that have begun falling from the inky blue sky. The cold chill causes you to shudder as you continue on your path down the slushy street. As cars pass, the grey mixture splashes onto your shoes. Surveying the damage the slush has done to your new sneakers, you accidentally wander off the well lit sidewalk and into a dark alleyway.
