Dabur was established in 1884 in a small clinic in the Indian city of Kolkata. Its 128 year legacy has been marked with numerous milestones, making it one of the most trusted and recognized personal and healthcare brands in the world. It has a vision that states "Dedicated to the health and well-being of every household". It started out as Doctor S.K. Burman's visionary endeavour to provide effective and affordable medicinal treatment for the under-privileged and it has advanced manifolds to encompass a wide range of diverse product lines. It was the first in disseminating and popularizing the goodness of natural and herbal products. Dabur's idea is even more beneficial in the present day with the natural way of life steadily being regarded with esteem.

Over the years, Dabur has diversified into key consumer categories like skin care, oral care, home care and foods through brands like Dabur, Vatika, Fem, Hajmola, Sanifresh, Odonil etc. Bridging the gaps by transcending borders, Dabur has spread worldwide so as to be close to its ever growing consumer base and suitably meeting their needs with high quality product offerings. It started with one manufacturing plant in India in 1896, and now markets its diverse line of products in over 100 countries, through 30 state of the art manufacturing units, out of which 10 are located outside India.

1. Soaps and Detergents This segment main driving factor for the revenues of HUL as it contributes approximately 49 percent of the total revenues. HUL‘s brands like Lifebuoy, Lux, Liril, Rexona, Wheel, Surf Excel, Surf, Vim etc. in soaps and detergent have helped the company to dominate the market and gain a significant position. The major growth drivers in this segment are sales volume and price of the products. With the collaborative initiatives like Swachh aadat, we expect a rise in consumption of soaps and detergents segment in rural as well as urban sector. Therefore, we expect the soaps and detergent market to grow at 18 percent as penetration in rural market is a slow phenomenon and based on the Historical CAGR of ~ 12 percent we are expecting it to be in line with it. We have also assumed that this will dominate approximately 40 percent of the total market share.
