Community, what is community? How would you define it? Community can be defined as a geographic location in a way that a group of individuals live in the same area like a neighborhood, a city, a district, a town, or a country. In simplest terms, it is where you live. However, individuals can also feel a sense of community through the place where they grew up or where they often go and visit. It can also be a group of individuals who have certain characteristics in common such as religion, race or ethnicity, culture, beliefs, professional and economic ties, interests, and more. Individuals refer themselves to particular attributes or affinities (what individuals like to do). For example, individuals say I belong to an Asian community or I belong to an art community. Even though individuals are different and unique from each other, they all come to one because of that one particular shared interest.
For me, community is bigger than that. I believe that community is diversity, kinship, unity, identity, cooperation, passion, similarity, strength, motivation, and guidance. The word community does not only limit itself to a group of individuals who have shared characteristics, interests, and experiences, but it also goes beyond the idea of a group of diverse individuals coming together. These are individuals who have different ethnicities, race, religion, culture, traditions, and so forth. Within a community is where one develops relationships with other people over time by means of interacting and communicating regularly, whether it would be in person or online. Thus, a better understanding of the surroundings and in greater span, the world, is formed. Community is where it starts. Differences are set aside. It is a place where everyone works together to make their community a better place or a harmonious place to dwell. Everyone contributes whatever
