When I made my commercial it was about a sport drink called “Koke”. While making this commercial I was taught how to make a script. The way I did this is I had some ideas and put them together I also had to know where it was and what time of day it was. Plus during this I was taught during this unit to edit videos on Adobe premiere pro. This was great because being able to use adobe can help get a job. Another experience I had was using the cameras. I got to take pictures of different objects or landscapes to show the different elements of photography, I learned how to use iso and aperture also shutter speed each of these settings will change your photo drastically and I learned how to use them to take a good
I have chosen the movie Signs to do my worldview analysis on. First, I will discuss the worldviews that the main characters in the movie have. I will then answer the question of if the characters were true to their worldviews. I will also discuss the obstacles that the main characters faced that deterred the character or characters from living out their worldview. Lastly, I will describe mental, emotional, or spiritual reactions I had to the movie as well as explain if I agree or disagree with the worldview present in the movie.
While negotiating the brief I had to deliberate on the intended audience, the purpose and the genre markers inherent in my trailer. The trailer will be set in a haunted asylum, three film students will investigate the mental hospital to dismiss the rumours in a documentary format, it of course turns out the rumours are true and the trio need to try and escape the asylum with their lifes still intact. I chose the unisex young adult market for my trailer, persons aged 15 to 25. I also had to decide on what genre markers would be present in my trailer. The trailer is of course an advertisement and it's main purpose is to get the viewers to go and see the full release of the film in cinemas.
The media plays a massive role in the construction of crime, this includes the reporting of crime, the sensationalisation of stories, over-representation of different social groups and age of offenders. Construction of crime is also through stereotyping both ethnicity and gender. It is sometimes argued that the media is an ideological tool that is used to distort reality from its viewers. Female killers are often considered as ‘oxymoronic’, as they are seen as contradictory. Females are generally seen as caring beings but once they commit violent crimes, they are judged based individual circumstances and it is not taken into consideration that they could just as violent as male offenders in their own right. In this essay, I will be focusing on the gender stereotypes in media, specifically focusing on female killers.
People in the lower class are often portrayed as pitiful, unworthy, lazy people who aren’t good for anything. That is according to what the media shows us daily. Blue collar work is viewed as “real” work (Linkon). The lower, working class takes pride in what they do because they accomplish something that takes effort and skill. The working class requires effort and strength. There are good lower class citizens who work for the benefit of their communities. The working class is unfortunately being brought down by the more “fortunate” higher-middle class and rich people. Basically, there is a bias in the representations of society (Ginsburgh). In a Levi’s - Go Work commercial, the lower class are positively portrayed as hard
In order to test these suppositions, the researchers undertook several room cultures studies to examine, monitor and evaluate adolescent media consumption habits. This resulted in the following model, which conceptualizes the three most significant dimensions of mass media uses and effects.3
In the article Media Magic: Making Class Invisible, Mantsios speaks about how the social classes are placed upon the society, and how mass media plays a role towards the individual’s perspectives within our surroundings. Mantsios explains the class effects of a person’s life changes, such as the inequality of rich and the poor from the representation of false truths from “daily newspapers, magazines, movie studios, and radio and television outlets in the United States” (Mantsios, pg. 92). Advantages were usually directed towards the higher class, as their status and access to resources were usually the center of attention when it came to favoritism from the media. The idea which the media “provided hype for individuals who have achieved “super” success” (Mantsios, pg. 96) as individuals praise the idea of the 1% upper class by “making it all on their own ” along with the acknowledgment of being wealthy is to be accepted.
Media Analysis ‘Media’ is the plural of the word ‘medium’, which often refers to different ways of communicating with other people; if the target is a large number of people, then it is called ‘mass media’. There are many types of media, such as TV, radio, films, newspaper, Internet etc. The main purpose of media is to entertain; however they can also be used to persuade, inform, explain and advice. Media can be very powerful; therefore people are influenced and affected by them.

For the student choice activity, I chose a lynda.com video titled “Photography: First Steps”. In this course, Jim Heid goes into detail regarding various photography subjects; such as: different cameras, lighting specifics, editing photographs, etc. While I am fairly efficient in my photography skills, I have not learned the camera basics. That is to say, I rarely use a professional camera for my pictures; instead, I typically capture photographs on my phone. After finishing this course, I have learned quite a few beneficial tips in regards to photography. For instance, I have become quite knowledgable in reference to exposure. Since I take pictures on my phone, I have not been too concerned about finding the correct exposure. On the contrary,
Digital media is becoming powerful in the way grocers are communicating and engaging with consumers today. The use of paper, leaflets, newspapers and posters or it can be known as ‘‘traditional advertising’’ is now being switched to digital media platforms. Millennials are utilising digital platforms such as websites, apps and social networking sites as a new way to advertise (The Voice of Food Retail, 2016). Aldi uses Facebook as a form of promotion for advertisement purposes and to increase their brand awareness by providing incentives likewise inspiring followers to interact with their daily posts (Evonimie, 2015). Another social media platform used by Aldi is Twitter in order to interact with shoppers. By interacting through social media,
Recently upon searching for a new news source, I stumbled upon your website. Upon looking through the articles, I noticed a large number of these we're simply tweets about the president doing less than notable things. Many of these articles talked about tweets including the entire front page of the website, describing in depth a recent tweet that Trump had sent out. While I was looking for a media source to get non-biased opinion on recent events such as the civil rights groups in Myanmar, I instead found plenty of articles on how Trump seems to be unpresidential. As a major media source, I see it on unfit that all of the focus of today's news is focused on the actions of the president on a minute-by-minute basis. To compare this to
My first experience with digital media started at Volcano Vista High School. Registering as an incoming freshman, I wanted to become a photographer. I distinctly remember registering for photography class, but I was stuck with digital media as an alternative. I like to joke that it was either destiny that put me in that class, or a huge mistake. Nonetheless, I instantly fell in love with digital media. My teacher, Jan Sherer, provided me with equipment and software to be able to learn the basics of digital media. Although she was unpopular by most students in her class, I always considered her a mentor. By senior year, I became proficient in most adobe products such as Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, and Adobe Audition. I also learned different camera techniques thanks to her teachings. She also entrusted me with a cameraman job for the schools daily morning
Digital art is a general term for a range of works by the artists who use digital technologies as a major part of the processes of creation and representation (Paul, 2006). Specifically, digital technology refers to the application of computers as media and partners for the artists in creating art works. However, digital industry is often a vague term and does not clearly define the final form of the art work. In his book called Art of The Digital Age, Wands (2006) has classified digital art works based on their final tool to digital prints, sculpture, installations and virtual reality, performance, music and art of sounds, video and animation, software, databank, and the art of gaming. He says although many digital arts including digital picture
The Wise Virgin (See Figure 19) is based on the parable of the virgins told by Jesus in Matthew 25:1-13. In the story, ten virgins are waiting for the arrival of their bridegroom. They do not know when the groom is coming, but five of the virgins bring oil for their lamps and are ready for his arrival. The other five do not bring oil to keep their lamps filled, and so when the groom arrived at midnight, they were not ready and were not allowed to go to the wedding feast. (Matthew 25:1-13) The story is typified as an example of the Second Coming of Christ- Jesus is the bridegroom, while the virgins are the world. It illustrates the need for the church to be ready for His coming at any time, since there is not telling when that coming will be.
YouTube is the one stop shop for a user’s video needs. Content ranges from funny home videos to vlogs to political commentary, with nothing left out in between. To keep access to the site free for viewers and creators, YouTube adopted a unique business model to maintain viewership and provide an incentive for creators to post content on the site. This model, though successful, brings an array of problems when deciding what content a creator can profit from. The method YouTube used to determine which videos could profit from advertising is unethical as it inhibits content creators’ ability to create entertaining videos to the site.
