Educational System and its Openness to Learning
Introduction:
With time the way that educational institutes have incorporated new techniques for development and teaching standards have changed. The overall process is not the same even though the goal is quite similar to some extent. Different schools in different states and different countries have standards that are unique and distinct usually based on the needs of the community and the resources of the educational institutes. This is one of the reasons that the children studying from different institutions have different skill set in terms of what they have learned and how good are they at implementing their knowledge into real life situations. Although every educational institute is required to have effective and string staff development programs but not all of them are good enough to be considered a competitive edge for a school. The school that I teach is in Saudi Arabia and is called Al-ameer Sultan School. I have been teaching here for quite some time which is why I am quite well aware of the processes and the programs of this school.
Body: Saudi Arabia is not as advanced as the American education system in terms of designing and implementing staff development programs that are very effective and strong. This is because the country usually has standard procedures that are same across the whole country. The highlighting of issues regarding diversity, new teaching techniques and advanced student’s
New York City consists of five boroughs, Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens, Brooklyn, and Staten Island. The borough that I reside in is Brooklyn. Brooklyn has approximately 2.592 million people inhabiting this district and approximately 23.4 percent of individuals who reside in Brooklyn, NY come from a low-income household or in other words come from poverty. With catholic and private schools being expensive, people have to rely on the education system to provide their children with a good education. In this paper I will be discussing the public school education system ranging solely up to high school in Brooklyn New York and giving a general idea of the New York education system as well.
Human Resource Development is the focus of the organization for which I work. My speech is about professional development is informative in its purpose. It is imperative to develop professional development strategies (Clark, 2016). This is a critical topic for our Saudi Arabian visitors. The United States and Saudi Arabia collaborate to structure thriving businesses and desire educated communities (U.S.-Saudi Arabian Business Council, 2015).
Was our educational system created on a deeply mistaken theory? According to E.D. Hirsch the educational system in 1988 was based on the teachings of a 50 year old theory from Jean Jacques Rousseau. Hirsch, talks about John Dewey, “the writer who has most deeply affected modern educational theory and practice”(Hirsch 1988). Dewey has based his theories on the old teachings of Rousseau. “Only by piling up specific, communally shared information can children learn to participate in complex cooperative activities with other members of their community”(Hirsch 1988) is what Hirsch said, which completely contradicts what John Dewey was teaching. Hirsch goes on to prove Dewey made assumptions and that he had been too reckless to reject certain teachings. The educational system of 1988 was deeply flawed, according to Hirsch, the purpose of the article was to show just that, his audience is anybody who will listen to his purpose, and his stance passionate and concerning.
The United States has an extensive educational system that has been charged with accommodating the needs of an extensively diverse student population. U.S. educational institutions exist at all learning levels, from preschools for early childhood education to secondary education for youths, and post secondary education for both
It is often said that the public education is an ongoing social experiment, with each teacher implementing different methods of education, with each school dealing with situations in different manners, with the application of curriculum varying even from classroom to classroom, especially from generation to generation. The great public education system is one that constantly evolves, one with a miraculous history, growing ever more rigorous in its methodology, requiring more of students, of teachers and staff, and of the society. Many other nations have overtaken our education system, through sweeping changes in their own, facilitating more successful students, teachers, and societies other than our own.
A successful medical student and physician must posses the ability to maintain an open mind and persevere through the struggles in order to obtain the knowledge and additional skills necessary to provide the best quality care for patients. An open mind enhances the educational community and contributes to meaningful patient-physician relationships. The skill encourages collaboration with peers and mentors by listening to all perspectives and incorporating the unique talents and experiences of all team members, which contributes to creative problem-solving. An open mind fosters the connections necessary to understand a patient’s challenges and needs while enhancing the patient-physician relationship by promoting trust and rapport that contribute
Education is inevitable. It is all around us because we can learn from virtually anything. When you are cooking, dancing, talking or any other activity you have actually had to learn several things to be able to do them. In the educational perspective, I am a pragmatist and I tend to follow after Dewey's footsteps. The concept of Pragmatism is one that developed in the 20th century. My philosophy is based on the idea that learning should involve real-life situations. Learning becomes more concrete to a student when they apply it to real-life situations, as where learning things that do not connect to them has more of an abstract sense. Personally, I would have to agree with Dewey when he said, "I
Education is defined as the act of acquiring general knowledge, developing the powers of reasoning and judgment. Having the freedom of education allows everyone including women to have the opportunity to learn and be able to adapt in the industrial world. Through the use of different rhetoric, Yousafzai and Clinton demonstrate the importance of women's rights and education in society.
Educational policies are the rules, guidelines and or boundaries that have shaped my career as student, a teacher and most recently as an educational administrator. Throughout my career I have not questioned always questioned the reasons for the development of these policies. From the readings in this course, I have begun to examine the how and why of policy development and beginning to understand role the policy analysis has in the evaluation of educational policies over time. The role of the state, the role of the individual within the state, changes to political ideologies and the development of globalization have all directly impacted policy development and the directions that education has taken over the last century.
The main issue in this article is that the education system is failing to deliver valuable education while promoting inequality among the student who can and can’t afford an education. One of the reasons for the poor quality of education is that students are not recognizing the importance of knowledge. According to the article “time-use studies show that the time students spend in class or studying has dropped from 40 hours a week in the 1920s to the 1960s to 27 hours a week now.” (source) This means that students are taking it easier in their educational system. Many employers tend to not be interested in grades. They’re main concern is if you have a degree to back up a pretentious education. With this easy access to jobs, graduates are
The education system has been a controversial issue among educators. Requirements of school do not let student choose what they want to study for their future. It’s a big issue to force student study specific curriculums, which don’t help them improve, and what they like to create something. Educators choose a general system for education to all students which based on general knowledge. Intelligent or genius students have to be in that system of education, which doesn’t let them improve their creativity. Educators attempt to change that system to make it better, but their changing was not that great to be an example for the world. Also, did that change qualify education system to compete other systems or not? In some examples and
The K-12 public school system of the U.S. must be nurtured, diversified and promoted to a higher academic standard. The term “public education” means education that is publicly financed through various tax programs and those personnel in charge are accountable to public authorities and designated places of education must be accessible to all students with attendance mandatory unless specified through legal documentation. The term "public education" covers every type of public school from kindergarten through the 12th grade to include traditional, charter, magnet, vocational and various alternative schools.
Countless countries benefit from a capitalistic system, but others, like Denmark, the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic, have a more socialistic giving society, offering free or low-cost schools, universal medical care, as well as supportive welfare to citizens. The world would gain from a higher quality of free education. My beliefs of a fair universal education offered to every child, no matter their place of origin, are influenced by experiencing the benefits of free education growing up in Czechoslovakia, by living in the Netherlands, and the United States.
Other factors contributing to problems with the successful implementation of educational policies have been a poor economy, inadequate supply of teachers from kindergarten level, problems with curriculum relevance, and an entrenched debate about the effectiveness of what is the best leadership style in the educational arena. There is a demonstrable connection between education and development,” said Steve Packer of the “Education for all Global Monitoring Report,” which tracks governments progress for the UN education,
Faculty development is a crucial factor in the educational quality improving. In Thailand, the educational quality is regulated by the office for national education standard and quality assessment (ONESQA). Faculty development is one of quality assurance indicators that reflect the standard of educational administration (ONESQA, 2015). Regarding faculty development, ONESQA defined its criteria as professional development that institutes have to develop faculty to gain an academic qualification by having the plan, system, and the mechanism (ONESQA, 2013). Although, enthusiastically faculty development program occurred in Thailand, the percentage of faculty development among Thailand educational institutes presented minor rate (Fink, 2013). Boromarajonani College of Nursing, Trang (BCNT) is a higher educational institute that uses the criteria of ONESQA to develop faculty. The outcome of the faculty development of internal quality assessment in academic year 2015 of BCNT illustrated only 10% of faculty members had a doctoral degree and 50% of faculty members achieved the personal development plan. To review the literature by Fishbone diagram, causation of unsuccessful in faculty development consists of faculty-related, colleague related, management and administration, and process and environment. In faculty related, Anwar and Humayun (2015) stated that the poor level of motivation and attitude of faculty and low level of commitment among senior
