1.0 Introduction
Stress can define as Balancing classes, tests, projects, extra-curricular activities and work is enough to make anyone feel overwhelmed, especially with final exams right around the corner. Having stress in your life is unavoidable, but there are steps students can take to mitigate its effects on their lives and health. Going off to college involves significant adjustments to student daily routine; student sleeping and eating habits, time-management skills, and stress levels will be altered in one way or another. And even though it’s been barely three months since you left high school, you are now expected to be more independent and self-sufficient. Adapting to this new life stage and the inevitable stress that comes with

The experts agree that it is important for students to have stress-relief techniques that help them return to a calm and relaxed state of mind, even if the stress is still present. De-stressing techniques vary, and what works for one student might not work for others. Jantz says to restore student sanity, some people may only need something as simple as taking themselves out of their normal setting. Going outside and sitting under a tree can help regroup thoughts and let out some stress
1.1 Statement of The Problem
1.1.1 Many assignment to do at one time
Sometimes they prefer to do their assignments one or two days before submission date. Students will feel stressed to get everything, having trouble to finished all the assignment and don’t have time to rest.
1.1.2 Time management between study, co curriculum and rest are not well managed
Some students are very active in college with their co curriculum until forget about study, assignments and having g good rest. This is because some students consider that co curriculum is more interesting compares the activities in academic. Moreover, attend the class in the morning and co curriculum activity at the evening will be effect the time to rest. It also will be affect students’ emotional because of less rest until do not have
Stress is a word that many college students hear on a daily basis; it is a concept that resonates with all students, regardless of age or major. People of all ages experience stress at various times in their lives, but college is a particular time when an individual can be plagued by heightened levels of it. At any given time, a college student might feel academic, financial, and social strains, yet they might not possess the resources to satisfy the demands of these stressors. Accumulation of these stressors (and stress in general) can have a negative impact on the lives of college students, but authors of a recent scientific study made an attempt to find the best techniques for reducing stress in college students.
Regis College’s number one health concern is stress. The problem has come to be, due to the fact that students come from home, where their parents provided them with guidance, to a situation where they are independent. They have personal responsibility and it may not be completely straightforward for some people. Everyone’s experience is different, but each student experiences stress in some way. The competition for grades, the high expectations, relationships, future career choices, and several other aspects found in the college environment, can lead to stress. Going to college requires changes in daily routine. This includes sleeping adjustments, eating habits, time-management skills, balancing of relationships and several other changes.
How can a college student not be stressed? College students who balance going to school and working have a high chance of being unsuccessful due to stress, lack of sleep, and financial issues. The responsibilities of taking college courses is a big weight on its own, but taking on a job, doing homework, and balancing personal life on top of that can really push a student to their limits. The key to staying successful through all these responsibilities is to have a time management plan laid out and organized to prevent the student from stressing out and not using their time to its best potential. Many students fail to have a successful time management plan, which is why they become stressed trying to balance everything at once.
Generally speaking, college requires a lot more effort from students than high school. Once you begin your college career, you will see that student’s are more motivated, professors are more demanding, and the workload is a lot more difficult. These academic standards are even more visible in graduate school. Now, although college is filled with adventurous opportunities, it can also be filled with stress. In other words, as a result of everything going on, it’s more common for college students to experience higher levels of stress related to school, work, finance, and in some cases, relationships.
Stress is a reality that so many collage students coexist with in their everyday lives. But they do not need to. (Website) 85% of collage students reported that they had felt overwhelmed by everything they had to do at some point in the past year. Collage students do not need to tackle stress while trying to create the foundation of their future. (Same website) 30% of collage students reported that stress had negatively affected their academic performance. Preventing stress in collage life is crucial because it is derogatory towards academia success. There are many unique ways to reduce and prevents stress from overtake collage students life, things like fitness, meditation, and many small quarks that can be picked through
Stress is unavoidable, no matter the situation, location, or time; stress is always present. Stress is found in higher levels during the duration in which students attend college. It is predictably higher among college students, freshmans in particular, because of the extreme expectations set upon them by their parents and, of course, society. The need to please their parents, longing for success in life, and being able to sustain a reasonable income in the future, all of which falls into the hands of college students who are making critical decisions which may decide the outcome for a large portion of their lives. If these students end up hating their future jobs, the stress of having to go back into college to study for a new career
Although stress and mental health may seem like a broad, indefinitely, undefinable issue on college campuses, I feel as if it is controversial and by far one of the most serious. Stress can cause untold damage to a person’s mental health if the stress is untreated and predominate in one’s life and can cause other serious effect on their mental health and life. I think everyone can agree that college students are under tremendous amounts of stress as they try to balance friends, social life, significant others, young adult life, college classes, studying, and homework. However, while most students agree that the stress they are under is too much and they could perform better without it me- I agree despite being in high school and taking college
A college student’s coursework requires a lot of time and dedication to their studies. Obstacles can be presented in a student’s life that can possibly reduce their continued efforts of producing quality work. Some obstacles that a student can expect to experience while attending school can be as simple as scheduling conflicts, employment responsibilities and child care issues. The average student must manage their time wisely to conquer those unexpected milestones.
College years are deemed to be the best years of life. However , they often turn out to be more stressful and overwhelming than enjoyable. Students search high and low for “hacks” to get through college. Some may swear by highly-caffeinated drinks and ninety-nine cent meals, but those who have graduated at the top of the class have revealed a different key to success. These “pro-level” students have mastered time management, study management, and stress management; the skills necessary to make any college year a successful one.
Ms. Amy Fox’s English class is hard, because, if students do not manage their time effectively, they can fail. Time management is important for students for multiple reasons. One reason why time management is important is that Fox’s English class will be time consuming. Ms. Fox states in her syllabus that, “There is homework every night” and “Plan to spend 4-6 hours per week on homework for this course” (3). Having “homework every night” and having to “spend 4-6 hours per week” outside of the classroom can be difficult for many students. Students who are in their first semester of college will not be used to having to spend so much time on schoolwork outside of the class. Many of them have other responsibilities, other than class, to
That feeling of walking back from an exam or staying up all night cramming information is well known to any student who has been through college. It leaves one feeling overwhelmed like the week will never end. The feelings are held inside while friends and roommates accuse moodiness which leads to the meltdown that is inevitable. These times are a result of a common state known as stress. Stress is a condition in which the body responds to any kind of demand or threat caused by life factors which include pressure, work, school, major changes, and lack of sleep. This factor is very common in colleges, especially freshmen and can also be seen here at Trine University. Stress can affect both physical and mental conditions in the body, such as sleep patterns, eating habits, anxiety,
Thesis: Today I will discuss about sources and effects of student stress and efficient ways to manage this emotional and physical strain.
Modern life is full of demands, frustrations, hassles, and deadlines. Everyone experiences stress as it is a natural part of human life. Our bodies have a built mechanism for responding to stress. However, during a certain period of time, people tend to face more stress than usual. One of such periods is college life. It can be very stressful for some people, especially for those who are not used to carrying out with so many responsibilities. Students spend most of their time balancing classes, projects, tests, final exams, personal life, and work; that is enough to make anyone feel overwhelmed. This stress can cause multiples problems, not just emotional, but physicals as well.
Over the years many studies have been conducted to determine what creates stress and how college students can cope with stress. Stressors in a student’s life can be created through personal, educational and social experiences. A student faces many experiences while transitioning from high school, to college, and into adulthood. These experiences include: living arrangements, personal finances, important career decisions, experiences of failure, interpersonal relationships, and personal finances. These stressors involved with daily hassles can create an unhealthy high pressure environment which makes stress for college students inevitable. During one study, researchers found that physical activity throughout a student’s life can increase one’s stress tolerance and positively cope with stressors (Bland, Melton, Bigham, & Welle, 2012).
Based on these findings from research done previously I feel that this study is important. Firstly, we need to understand what causes the stressors and how it affects the individual. For example, if you have an entire university with stressed students, not being productive, not performing well academically perhaps thinking of dropping out of university because of the overwhelming anxiety; it can be detrimental to the institution in terms of status and students in terms of individual realisation. Secondly, we soon have to formulate effective and efficient stress management guidelines as we
