Establishing the team’s purpose, its role and responsibilities is key to achieving the development of a real team as everyone identifies their purpose within the group known and each individual becomes accountable for their contribution to the productivity of the team. Skills mapping is an essential element of building a team or choosing the right member for a role. We must identify each member’s qualifications, competencies, skills and experience to assist the team to produces outcomes utilising the best practices possible. Similarly, Belbin identified 9 roles or bands of behaviour that individuals are likely to possess. These bands are work style characteristics that describe how an individual approaches and undertakes tasks. Sometimes it is hard to evaluate someone effectively when you have developed a working relationship with a teammember who although has good intentions are not pulling their load. In some cases even though they did not contribute equally and substantially to the assignment, this writer did not want to evaluate them in a negative manner. Since honesty is the best policy, and as time progressed with other groups, it became clear that if a person does not participate fully, they should not be given credit… as it is not fair to other teammembers.

The introduction of a new member (Jack) into the team implies that the team had to begin at the earlier stages of developing a team and build a new relationship with the individual within a short period. The addition of Jack Swigert into the team implies that the team members had to work under pressure to build an effective team that would perform effectively. The introduction of a new member affected the team in there was poor communication as seen when Jack makes a mistake in the simulator. There was a moment of silence between the team members indicating that it was difficult for the team to cope with a new member. This change could have been managed differently by ensuring that the members of the crew together with their substitutes worked and trained together before the mission in order to ensure effective team development. This would be effective because the team members would have an opportunity to understand the personalities about each other and eliminate the element of poor communication and interaction when new members are introduced to the team.
Each has certain relevant skills, knowledge and get advantages of shared knowledge and experiences within the team. To be an effective member in the group process, team member needs to share a commitment to achieve the team goals, meet the team’s expectation and work well together with others. A team is a group of people working together to achieve a common goal. The effectiveness of the project team can make the difference between project success and failure. Our project team has a total of 30 students. Eventhough good strategics and techniques are still necessary, it is the members of the project team itself that are the key to project success which require an effective project team. In order to become an effective team, we have to go through five stages which are Forming, Storming, Norming, Performing and Adjourning. For this essay, we will only focus on the forming and storming stage.

Personality refers to certain qualities, skills and competencies of an individual that gather up to project the kind of person he or she is. Having a good understanding of personality can lead to the understanding of an individual's reaction in a defined situation (Kumble & Kelly, 2006). There is almost every time a certain uniform aspect that comes out of an individual's which can be utilized to draw certain inferences.
