There are few things that are extremely important in life, and I am positive they vary from person to person. Mine form a triangle including family and friends, education, and a hard work ethic. Without one or the other, they all fail. Without a work ethic, I would never have the motivation to get an education, or even attempt to prosper in life. Having a strong work ethic is a characteristic that everyone should have in order to be successful. My work ethic was driven by my parents at a young age and this helps me to gain respect for bosses, professors, and coworkers. My first jobs I ever had included working mutually for both my parents. They were always very tough on me and expected the very best outcome from me. I assumed this was just because I was their daughter. But a year later, when I received a job as a waitress at a local restaurant/ ice cream shop, I realized that my parents had treated me like any other employee. I was never expecting a boss, that was not my mother nor father, to yell at me or be strict and disciplined. There were several times when my boss at the restaurant had shouted at me for serving too much ice cream on a cone. I will always remember the feeling of disappointment I received when my boss was unhappy with my service. I soon learned that all the complaining my parents did about their employees were actual issues, and that I did not want to be like the employees they criticized. This was my first realization at how important a strong work ethic is.
The next component that displayed how important my work ethic is, includes my senior year high school volleyball season. Volleyball was a sport I played from 5th grade all the way up through my senior year. Volleyball pre-season typically starts in June and ends in August when tryouts start. I had already been through tryouts my freshman, sophomore, and junior year, so I went into my senior year tryout not worried at all. After three days of
