Exercise is an essential component of healthy living style. It strengthens not only physical health, but also mental health. 99% of people on this planet know the importance of exercise. However, not many percent of people can actually commit to regular exercise in order to enhance the physical condition or have correct knowledge about exercise. Such situation is even serious in Asia countries. For many decades, students in Asia, from elementary school students to high school students, are taught that study is the most important activity in their life. They are encouraged to study day and night but discourage to attend any kind of sports activities. As the result, Asian students don 't have a habit of exercising. Even if they do exercise, they do it for only weight control and apply false concept most of the time. UMI is found in order to promote Asian students ' willingness to exercise, provide them education about exercise and accompany them on their fitness journal. As an Asian student, I used to be like most of Asian students. I didn 't like to exercise, and think sweating is disgusting. I started to exercise when I was on my mission. My companion all looked strong and I felt I am sissy comparing to them. I tried to copy what they did when exercising. The result wasn 't quite well. One day after I was married, I received a one week free access for a gym by my house. I went to it because I was curious about what gym looks like. It was the start of my journey of working
When students add exercise to their life, they will develop a routine. If they commit, they will have different eating habits and will have to fit exercise into their schedule. Students will develop a meal plan, and an exercise routine, that fits their lifestyle. This will help them have a schedule for their everyday lives. If all students participated in the exercise, their lives would become more organized.
Exercise behavior is the study of theories which work to explain actions and phenomenon’s that occur when looking at peoples perspectives of exercise. One overall theory called The Transtheoretical model (TTM), includes elements from “across a variety of theories and models behavior, some of which are social-cognitive in nature and some of which are not” (79). My solution of earning credits for exercising will solve the problem of obesity because it addresses some of the primary sources, including lack of time, stress, and inexperience. Lakeland College is able to easily transfer a similar physical education course that is required by other universities into the curriculum. This class will be flexible to meet students’ schedules, the credits will motivate students to manage time for exercising, and exercising will help reduce their stress levels. According to the Anxiety and Depression Association of America, “exercising is vital for maintaining mental fitness, and it can reduce stress. Studies show that it is very effective at reducing fatigue, improving alertness and concentration, and at enhancing
College life is a time full of fun, friends, activities, classes, and homework. All of these activities however, add up to a busy life style. Being busy is not in itself harmful but when the busyness becomes so great that it turns into stress, problems start to arise. The formation of stress leads to many unhealthy trends, such as lack of sleep, loss of immunity to disease, and a change in personality traits. How then can stress in the busy lives of college students be reduced? The answer is a simple one that has long been known; exercise relieves stress. Instituting weight training in secondary level students will hopefully lead to an adult who is active and healthy. Promoting a healthy lifestyle at a young age can influence one person and have an effect on many. The hope is to have the student’s take their knowledge gained and share it with friends and family. Then once they become adults they will continue to stay active and live a healthy lifestyle. “Parents should be active with their children from a very young age and not depend on the school system to keep their children fit; thus, changing parental exercise behavior may improve childhood fitness” (Landry & Driscoll, 2012, p. 831). There are many personal self-care activities that are extremely important to our health.
