One limitation of this study was the small sample size. This study was an exploratory self study to better my own practices; therefore, the sample size only contained students from my own classroom. However, the students in the class were not required to participate in this study in fear that required participation would influence the students’ responses. Students were only encouraged to respond if they felt comfortable to increase truthful responses. As a result, twenty-two students were part of the sample size, but only nineteen students participated.
Another limitation was the short time frame in which this study was conducted. The study was conducted over the course of four weeks and within one math unit. Four weeks of data collection
The PSYC 255 course at Liberty University is an introductory course that offers students a fundamental perceptive of different techniques used for research and investigation of data in the behavioral science field. The eight week course itinerary is filled with assignments that direct the student toward a path that is filled with collective psychological research approaches and design methods. It offers fundamental familiarity about the American Psychologist Association (herewith called APA) ethical and legal requirements. Plus it directs a student toward comparing the APA’s standard methods used for the research theory process versus bible standards. Lessons follow coaching in the relevance of a case study approach and the advantages and disadvantages. Then, a comparison study is done on qualitative and quantitative research technique and consideration. Upon course completion students are able to identify and understand the essentials of the research, method of preparation, overall written communications and technical considerations.
According to the course syllabus we were introduced to the techniques of psychological research. This course was able to provide an understanding of how research is done, and what methods we can use to do so. By having a clear understanding of research and techniques used, it allows us to communicate effectively in regards to ideas behind the research process. In this paper, I will use myself as the case study to examine exactly what I learned about research.
It is essential that students receive realistic and immediate feedback that enhances self-efficacy. It is imperative that I return student work in a timely fashion so they can reflect on their work because “students’ achievements are enhanced by providing them with information about their current level of performance followed by specific learning tasks aimed at mastering the material” (Jones & Jones, p. 285). I will be able to correct faulty thinking by my students when I return their work in a timely fashion which will prevent future mistakes over the same topic. It is vital to the success of my students that they experience a safe, well-organized learning environment in my classroom. It is a necessity that students feel safe and comfortable in the classroom so I can challenge them to reach their goals in a
This study was conducted as a quantitative, randomized control trial, using repeated-measure design. The 111 participants were given sealed envelopes determining whether they were apart of the Self-Efficacy and Outcome Expectation Enhancement group (SEOPE) or the Attention-Controlled group, thus justifying this as
There will be one semi-instructed interview a week asking about specific situation in the classroom. During the interviews snacks and drinks will be provided for the students to enable them to feel more comfortable in the coming days. The purpose of this study is to see if there is a significant impact of African American teachers on female African American students academic achievement. The participants test scores will be recorded on a laptop. The notes from the interviews and observations in the classroom will be kept in separate notebooks. At the beginning of the research, the teachers will be asked how their teaching style differs from the normative teaching module. Also the participants will be given notebooks to record their own feelings about school and life in. Every two months the material will be collected and recorded in a laptop. Every four months the 11-15 year old participants will be given a 15-dollar gift card to the mall as an incentive to keep them interested and active in the study. After each recording, there will be member-checking and the and all three researchers will combine notes to ensure what is being recorded is actually purposeful to the intended
The data that I collect from assessments using “Words Their Way” gave me information needed to understand my student’s individual needs this in turn allowed me to gear my classroom instruction towards my student’s individual weaknesses. My action research allowed me to make an overall impact on students in the school at the time of the action research but also to future students.
The study was created from students, faculty, and staff from a Midwestern university with about 10,000 students registered on campus. The team assigned to conduct the research randomly selected courses that were held on campus and were scheduled to meet on two consecutive days during the semester of Spring 2013. Kyle et al., (2017). The instructors were emailed and asked for consent to run the survey to their class on a specific date. The research team ended up receiving access to forty different courses. Over the two chosen consecutive days, the research team administered the survey to the students in each of the classes. The students were let known that participation for this study was voluntary and if they wished to decline
Write a brief reflection on the activity (no more than 3 pages). What did you learn about yourself and others? What implications might this have on your own classroom practice?
The field of exercise science is facilitating and understanding of links between fitness exercise, diet and health. There have been many studies that show how exercise and the human body interact. My main interest is being a physical therapy and showing how exercise can help the human body when used effectively. If you over exert yourself, it can cause your immune system not to function correctly. In this exploratory essay a comparison of a journal article and news article to find out that intense exercise can cause the immune system not to recover after exercise.
The primary data collection method of this study is observations. I intend to reflect on my own beliefs daily, in order to remain as objective as possible. Data collection conducted through observations alone can produce filtered results based on the perspective of the observer. That is one of the issues that I anticipate to arise when conducting data collection. That is why recon-naissance will be a necessary task before and after collecting observational data. With a concrete definition of the term behavioral outcomes and daily reconnaissance, I believe this will provide me with an adequate checks and balances and data management system for my research. Accord-ing to Gay, Mills, & Airasian, “By observing the classes, you will obtain much more objective information that can be compared to the self-reports of
In our daily practice, we, as Pts many times use heuristic practice approaches because of limited time and decreased our work load also this approach gives hasty conclusion as our pre conclusive thought. By doing this, we kicker ourselves and ignore/missed important information (Crist, McVay and Marocco,2016) which may play secondary role in timely outcomes.
This study was limited due to the small sample size. Although the conclusions are valid, more research with a
Participants were 172 university students from the psychology faculty of an Australian university. Data was collected using a self-report on line survey. The survey used a
A positive impact on self is that I get to study the rugby world cup in class, this is a positive impact on myself as I get to learn more about rugby as a sport and I get to learn about how the competition works. When learning more about rugby as a sport it will influence me to be more interested in the game and be able to talk with friends and family with how the All Blacks are going. Since I will become more interested in the game I may go and watch our first 15 in the weekend. This will be good as I will be able to meet new people and also have comradery between people who are also interested in rugby.
At the beginning of this subterm, I had a limited understanding of the proper research methods used within psychology. Despite having previously completed several psychology courses, two being upper level courses, there was still much I needed to learn pertaining to psychology research methods. While this research class has been on only an introductory
