Extrinsic Motivation
Extrinsic motivation is deemed the behaviour that is driven by rewards, fame, grades, and praise. This type of motivation comes from outside the individual, as opposed to intrinsic motivation, which originates inside of the individual (Florida International University, 2017).
Intrinsic Motivation Intrinsic motivation refers to behaviour that is driven by internal rewards. In other words, the motivation to engage in behaviour arises from within the individual because it is intrinsically rewarding (Ryan and Deci, 1999)
Examples of actions that are the result of intrinsic motivation include:
