Geico Case Study Determine which facets of the GEICO total rewards program align with the five (5) top advantages of a total rewards program outlined in Chapter 2 of the textbook and discuss your reasoning. After reviewing GEICO’s website the first facet that stood out to me was the fact with the economic problems in the US was they had not had a decline in their workforce, which shows this is a company that values its employees. GEICO’s total rewards program is based on a compensation and competitiveness and it relates to other companies that are in the same market, like All State and State Farm. GEICO pays its employees based off their experience and skill level. Every position from entry level to executive was compensated well, …show more content…
In order for performance to be managed correctly, the staff has to be well trained in their fields. This helps identify those that need training, different ways to improve production, and provide the organization with a way gauge the pay rates for their skill set. If these two strategies are followed this would save GEICO money, create a smooth working environment, and provide employees that are not the most skilled with something to strive for. Evaluate the effectiveness of the communication of GEICO’s total rewards program based upon the Website’s descriptions of the benefits. Recommend two (2) areas for improvement. One of the two changes that I would make at GEICO is in the rewards program. When looking online in their press release section most of the recognition goes to those in management. I have not held a position in the civilian world, but being in the military I do know that enlisted personnel are the ones that make things go and I am pretty sure that is how things work in the civilian sector too. In the civilian sector I see corporate like the officers of the military and those that’s not in corporate like the enlisted. Instead of just focusing on recognizing those in management GEICO should ensure that show recognition to those that do the dirty work and make things go. The second change that I would make in GEICO’s total rewards program is in benefits. I have chosen this benefit because of health care and the cost of it. I would

Senior Management of PepsiCo is evaluating the potential acquisition of two companies – Carts of Colorado and California Pizza Kitchen – in order to expand the company’s restaurant business. For example, AFLAC would award its employees who present themselves within the community or volunteer for many charities, with the Volunteer of the Month award. This award can build the morale of the employee and keep them engaged. In the end not only are employees being recognized for their philanthropic work, but also it allows AFLAC to gain rapport due to its continuous efforts in the community. Secondly, AFLAC utilizes sound performance and incentive as an enhancement tool in order to promote and develop employees for the next level within the organization and keep pace with the company’s overall goals and strategies. “Approximately 90 percent of employees were attracted to and remain at Aflac because of company reputation. Employees are happy with the profit-sharing bonus, with 81 percent of employees saying they believe it is better than that of other companies” (p.7). This strategy is a marketing tool that allows AFLACs employees to see endless opportunity, which has allowed AFLAC to retain over 91 percent of it,
In the past twelve months, there has been one advertising campaign that has stuck out amongst the rest. This advertisement can not only be seen on television, but also at your local movie theater before the opening credits. This advertisement campaign is Geico 's "Spy" commercial. This commercial features a US spy that is combating operatives when his cell phone rings. When he picks up, his mother is on the other side of the line complaining about his father refusing to hire pest control to get rid of the squirrels, as it is personal this time. The commercial then goes on to say, "if you are a mom you call at the worst time, it is what you do. If you want to save 15 percent on car insurance you switch to Geico. It 's what you do" (Mother Knows Best, 2015). This paper will discuss the success of the Geico advertisement.
Also the employees at Google have the added benefits of being able to bring pets to work, onsite childcare, and of course the best one chow down on some free food. Additionally, Google creates an environment where its employees are encouraged to bring about any ideas they may have, and having an environment where people can express their ideas helps to foster a joint effort among employees which is extremely vital. “Google has constructed an empire where well-chosen elite accommodates flexibility, shifting roles, and urgency. Google shares whatever information it can with as many employees as possible, encouraging debate but insisting on like-minded cooperation.” (Hardy, 2005) Google has gone as far as to set a higher standard by doing away with the just offer the same old employee of the month parking space, instead they want to show how providing a better work experience results in a higher quality product or service.
