The only risk I see is that there is no or little parent participation.
For school staff It maybe seen as failure if parent engagement in the meeting is low. For parents they may be seen as a sell out or leaving their culture and adopting a new one.
Because parents will be seen and discussed in a positive manner and they will be welcomed to participate. Parents currently do not participate or are engaged in their child's education. I believe that administrators opposed to the meetings will send a negative message not only to staff but also to parents and cause parental disengagement. For parents they will be willing to be engaged and participate in their child’s education and be advocates for their children.
I hope that increasing parent engagement

Parental Alienation Syndrome is defined as a syndrome where one parent (usually the custodial parent) alienates the child or children from the other parent. A child psychiatrist organized this syndrome by the name of Richard Gardner. The fact that Parental Alienation Syndrome is used in custody litigations makes it a very controversial issue. The syndrome tends to target one parent and favor the other, sometimes leaving the child in compromising situations. Also, Gardner's 'syndrome' lacks scientific background and is seen as nothing more than a theory by many other professionals. Parental Alienation Syndrome should not be considered in court custody battles, as it is nothing more than an inadequate theory.
“We are open to all parents coming to the school but due to safety reasons there is a high level of security that can deter parents from being more involved. We view parents as a valuable part of a child’s early learning however in our title environment we often see a lack of involvement that hinders their child’s early learning.”
As a future educator, I am mindful of the fact that it’s my job to find out why my student is struggling. Sitting down with the child may help me determine the problem. Parents are also one of our greatest resources at our disposal, and I plan to take advantage of that. Parents see different things at home than in the classroom. Conversing
In this case there is only one teacher and about 30 students. Parents also have to worry about the safety of their child in a public school. Parents have no accountability for their child's actions. Not even voluntarily. Too often a child will get into trouble for something at school with a teacher, get seriously injured, or be getting into a fight with another peer, and the only thing the parents want to know is, "Where the teacher was and what were they doing?"
The symbiotic relationship between teachers and parents is crucial to the educational success of a student. Parents must be involved with their child’s education through consistent attendance of IEP meetings and advocate for their child and their needs at school. Teachers can encourage parent involvement through, traveling notebooks home and note home programs which establish an open line of communication between teacher and parent. Parent-teacher conferences are a great way for teachers and parents to be involved in the success of the student's educational experience.
I believe that, as a teacher, I could help to build the relationship with parents and guardians. Welcoming parents should be a yearlong process, beginning with back to school night. I teach math and science and there are definitely days and projects and labs that I would welcome assistance. Back to school night would be the first opportunity
Our elementary schools are filled with children who yearn to see their parents at an awards day ceremony, open house, or even just to meet with the teacher to discuss their school work. Concerned educators are asking for more involvement from parents of kids who are falling behind in class. The federal government is proposing an increase in the education budget so our teachers can be well equipped to teach our children. Even the state legislature is getting involved in education issues. It is imperative that these entities get involved. However, personal experience indicates that being an available parent is unquestionably the most positive influence for many children who would
Conferences are the perfect time for parents and teachers to sit down and talk about what the student is struggling with, excelling in, or any behavioral problems. However, most parent-teacher conferences are not as effective as they were intended to be, because of the many problems associated with them. Having parents involved in their children’s lives is a very important thing, socially and academically. Parent teacher conferences are one major aspect of a child’s academic life. Parents should be directly involved with their child’s education and their child’s teachers. Communication between teachers and parents sometimes doesn’t happen as often as it should.
