The discharge from the kiln is called clinker.

The clinker is then deposited in to the cooler where most of the heat is recover and clinker is cooled, crushed and sent by means of pan conveyors to the clinker silo.
Ball mill/Cement mill
A ball mill is a horizontal cylinder partly filled with steel balls (or occasionally other shapes) that rotates on its axis, imparting a tumbling and cascading action to the balls. Material fed through the mill is crushed by impact and ground by attrition between the balls and sent to the cement silo of the packing plant.
The parking Plant
Extracts cement from the cement silo by conveyors and elevators, passes them through a vibrating screen, and then the rotary parker fills the cement in to bags and on to trucks which are then ready for shipping to consumers as Portland Cement. Fig. 2. Bagged Portland cement
1.4 Health and safety
Unicem has a full service Occupational Health and Safety department. Health and Safety in the workplace is a major priority. The Company provides compulsory PPE (helmet, safety glasses, safety footwear and high visibility clothing) and site specific PPE for all her staff which they must use at all times or face penalties. Safety induction is always given to new staff, contractors and visitors and safety talks held every 2
My current place of work provides policies and procedures about the use of protective equipment and how/when you must use them as PPE is essential when working within hazardous activities such as disposing of hazardous waste, preparing/handling meals, cleaning etc.
| State why and when health and safety control equipment, identified by the principles of protection, should be used relating to types, purpose and limitations of each type, the work situation, occupational use and the general work environment, in relation to:– collective protective measures– personal protective equipment (PPE)– respiratory protective equipment (RPE)– local exhaust ventilation (LEV).
|Explain how to create a safe and suitable environment for practitioners and clients | |Every organisation should have specific safety policies and plans tailored to their business and work environment, depending on| |what type of safety issues are relevant. By training all employees thoroughly in the safety policies, the organisation can | |ensure that an environment or situation is safe for all. Additionally, seeking the involvement of staff in drawing up plans or | |adding to them is an excellent way to obtain “buy in” and maintain compliance. | |When practitioners meet
health and safety procedures and practises should be under continual scrutiny and areas for improvement should be monitored and dealt with. A good method of monitoring & improving are health, safety and security procedures are visually. Check visitors have signed in the visitor’s book, look for items blocking fire exits or hallways, wet signs are in place during cleaning, COSHH cupboards are kept locked, medication trolleys are secure, hoists are clean and stored in a correct storage place. Policies and procedures need to be reviewed regularly to ensure they are still relevant, circumstances in workplace can change and new risk assessments will need to be put in place or old ones reviewed. Policies and procedures may need evaluating and developing
You should wear the correct PPE for the job i.e LEV when working in a closed environment. Read all hazard boards.
Task 4Ensuring health and safety is an important responsibility not only for the Managers but all associated with the premises. In order to get the tubing, the maker starts out with straight tubes of brass. A hydraulic cylinder pulls the tubes through a mandrel to stretch it out. They fill these tubes with water and freeze them so that the brass doesn’t buckle, or warp, in the next step. Once the tube is filled with ice, a lever is used to bend it around a u-shaped block. Once the ice melts, they but the u-bend into balling-out dies. The die holds the tubing in place while the maker changes the inside diameter. To do this, they lubricate the inside of the tubing with oil and then push steel balls through until the first ball comes out. The first ball is always a little bit larger than the
Any information, instruction, training and supervision needed to make sure that all workers are safe from injury and risks to their health
I take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks and deep gratitude to all those people who extended their whole hearted co-operation and have helped me in completing this project successfully.
It is important it have a written work Health and Safety Policy for the organizations and businesses which have management systems. The Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011 addresses Major Hazard Facilities in Regulation 558 and Schedule 17(1.2) and requires that the Safety Management System includes a Safety Policy, including the operator’s broad aims in relation to the safe operation of the major hazard facility, and that the safety policy must include and express commitment to ongoing improvement of all aspects of the safety management system. A Work Health and Safety Policy is an explicit statement of business commitment to work health and safety. It will include a statement outlining the importance which is placed on work health and safety and how it is to be implemented.
A machine shop environment: activities that are undertaken in a machine shop environment can be things such as but not limited to milling, drilling, the use of lathes and the use of heavy duty machinery and due to such an accident and injury prone environment the PPE at work regulation 1992 is applicable. This regulation states that the employers are required to ensure that suitable PPE is used by the employees as well as keeping the PPE free of charge within the company. The PPE must be applicable for the activity at hand and the risks that may come along with it. The PPE must include equipment’s such as safety helmets, goggles as well as protective face masks. It must also be providing equipment such as air filters, overalls safety boots and gloves as well as ear defenders. It is also the employers’ job to provide competent training to their staff and provide the instructions on the use of the equipment.
Occupational health and safety (OHS) in the workplace requires an effective systematic approach with strategies to control and monitor OHS risks and which is consistent with relevant OHS legislative requirements.
