Why did you choose to interview this individual? Is his or her job exactly like the job you want or in a similar field? How did you locate the individual? An international manager is a broad title for someone who handles any and all interactions the business has on a national and global scale. They generally are responsible for all of the business that is conducted outside of the organization. There are often multiple people doing this job for bigger companies simply due to the size. They are broken down into smaller categories such as sales, marketing, and manufacturing. They must be culturally sensitive and know the business’ needs, and how to implements those in foreign markets. They also must be able to handle the political, cultural, and day-to-day challenges of doing business with other cultures. Furthermore, they must have a keen understanding of currency, and how that changes between countries. I chose to interview the individual I did because, as an owner of her own import-export business, she has great depth of experience in the field of international management. Although different from working for a company, it Is the same general principle, being that as she owned her own business, she did this job along with many others. The name of the interviewee is Matt Gunnell. He is a manager at the Jefferson City Apothecary. He has been instrumental to manufacturing medicine a playing a vital role in keeping the people of the Jefferson City community healthy and strong. I decided to choose Matt because he is a laid back and amazing individual who is very positive about life and encourage others to thrive and find their talent to make the world a better place. He also has a strong passion for his job and his role in ensuring the wellness of our citizens in this community. Also, I picked the Apothecary because of the vital role they to ensure our society have access to the medicine they need to stay healthy. It is one of the very few pharmaceutical businesses in town. It also offer pocket friendly prescriptions for some citizens that had to pay out of pocket.
I chose to interview Regina Geis, who holds the administrative role as acting supervisor for the County Mental Health adult day program, which provides services for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Ms. Geis has held this position for 15 months. This is her first managerial position within a human service agency. Her style of management has changed over this short period of time. She feels that she is now more direct with her direction with staff. She stated, “Maybe now I come across as a little bit cold. But I have learned that I now have to use the least amount of words to get my point across.”
For my Human Resources perspective I interviewed Judie Crudo the Human Resource Director for St. Anthony Foundation (St. Anthony’s). She has been with the organization in that capacity for 25 years. Being a native San Franciscan being offered a position with St. Anthony’s was a calling to her, “working for the best” is what she wanted to do and felt St. Anthony’s really offered that opportunity. Prior to working at St. Anthony’s, she was worked in Human Resources for Macy’s and a small startup company.
The purpose of the assignment was to interview another person and record it, then later analyze how well you used interview techniques. The interview was to last fifteen minutes and discuss why your interviewee had decided to choose a career in the health field.

Managers make many decisions every day. Thankfully there are many tools available to a manager as they make these decisions. Tiffany is a General Manager of a franchise in the quick service restaurant industry. She is faced with decisions dozens of times in one day. A large portion of the decisions that she is faced with are made to solve structured problems, however, sometimes an unstructured problem does arise that she needs to address. As well as solving problems Tiffany must also make plans to in order to have structure and organization to achieve the goals set forth by herself and the company that she works for. My first choice for an interviewee is my Mother. Her name is Karyn Claire Murray, and she is not a US citizen. She is a legal alien from England, but she has spent two large chunks of her life in the US. In her early twenties, she spent a year working at Disney World as a Cultural Representative in the EPCOT Center. She moved back to England after working in America, but at the age of twenty-six she married my father and moved to Northern California. She has now been in Northern California for thirty years now. Since moving to America she has experienced culture shocks, stereotypes, and segregation from her American family since she is not a citizen. Management is a “process, comprised of social and technical functions and activities, occurring within organizations for the purpose of accomplishing predetermined objectives through human and other resources.” In order to achieve the desired objectives of the organization, managers carry out technical and interpersonal activities and work through and with other people. PPG 4. This paper will summarize my interview with such manager, along with the description of the purpose of interview, brief introduction of the interviewee and his organization. The paper will also relate ideas and topics covered in the interview with the management principles in healthcare and finally explain what was learnt in this process.
The manager interviewed for this assignment was Chief Warrant 3 Linwood Bowers, the Chief of the Personnel Support Directorate of the White House Communications Agency (WHCA). Chief Bowers has held his present position for four years. The focus of the interview was the unique challenges of good communication.
Organization wants to achieve the objectives of sustained growth and increased profitability, organization must constant innovation its product or service, also need to carry out some plans to expand its business to enable an organization to have a better development. Organization expands its business cannot be confined to the domestic market must also move abroad, which effectively allows an organization closer to the global market and broadening the scope of business and profitability. However, business expansion is not as easy in this global environment, globalization has not only changed the enterprise competitive landscape also influence the way leaders conduct business (Caligiuri, 2006). Furthermore, with globalization, global leadership in terms of cultural knowledge needed to become more acute and require more advanced level of cognitive ability on the complexity of managing the demand of multiple cultures while completing managerial tasks (Caligiuri, 2006, Grosse, 2011). The opportunities for global expansion are numerous, and attaining success is a matter of developing the right strategy to win local markets and its consumers.
A manager’s decision-making process regarding new or increased international operations involves reacting to the environment, seeking competitive advantage globally and assessing the company’s capability in the global context.
