This study combines phenomenology and minority stress theory to examine the lived experiences of intimate partner violence (IPV) among lesbian women in Columbia, South Carolina. Using qualitative methods, including genograms and semi-structured interviews, the research explores the commonalities among participants in relation to their experiences with intimate partner violence and contextualizes and analyzes such experiences, describing patterns and themes of violence, obstacles to seeking help, and interactions with mental health professionals.
