Investigation of Students' Different Learning Styles
This report investigates differing learning styles of an AVCE second year student group. Firstly the report provides a critical account of the context of the course; it’s provision and relevant information about the learners and how some aspects of learning theory can be applied within the delivery of the Project Management module. Taking into account the theoretical issues a scheme of work, lesson plans and teaching material was prepared for the project management module, which I am unit leader for next semester.
The second part of the report provides a critical review of the scheme of work and lesson plans and justifies the learning

3. Terms of Reference =====================
This report is intended to satisfy the requirements of an assignment that has been set as part of an In-Service PGCE in Education.
A group of learners will be selected that I am currently teaching and relevant information about these learners will be provided along with some of the factors influencing (positively or negatively) their learning.
An account will be given of the main features of one or more theories of learning, which seem to you to be relevant to these learners. As a result a scheme of work and lesson plans will be prepared and delivered.
The report will conclude with an evaluation of the scheme of work and lesson plans and how the experience will affect future practice.
4. Understanding and Managing the Learning Process ==================================================

(1) The article “Project-Based Instruction: A Great Match for Informational Texts” by Nell K. Duke, discusses the idea of implementing project based learning and how it can greatly improve student’s education. According to Duke, project based instruction involves “working over an extended time period for a purpose beyond satisfying a school requirement”. This includes doing projects in order to “build something, to create something, to respond to a question [students] have, to solve a real problem, or to address a real need” (Duke 1). The article talks about the benefits of this type of instruction and specific examples of how it can be implemented in the school curriculum and Common Core State Standards. Duke also emphasizes how the projects that are implemented should serve a real- life purpose so that students feel more engaged knowing their work will be seen by others outside the classroom and can even help solve a real-life
This will allow for feedback to be obtained by the teachers on how project-based learning and as well as obstacles teachers faced in the implementation of project-based learning. This serves two purposes, one to find out in which sites project-based learning was implemented and to what extent and secondly what factors were obstacles so they can be addressed.
By and large, it is of little debate in today's sophisticated world that education is of great importance. This is inasmuch as education is the basic necessity of life and brings self-confidence. With this in mind, it is quite expected to notice some of its aspects are somewhat controversial due to its prominent standing; many people wonder which way helps students to learn more. One idea of prominence in this regard is that students learn more when they work together on a project. I personally concur with it. The rationale behind this thesis will be elaborated upon and exemplified in the ensuing paragraphs by giving two outstanding reasons.
In the classroom it is important to collect information regarding students learning styles, readiness level, and what hinders the student from learning. Creating instructions take time due to students having different learning styles. Collecting data will help support the differentiated instructions that teachers will use in the classroom to ensure all students have the capabilities to gain the knowledge and skills needed to be successful in the classroom. Before gathering data on students, teachers must be aware of their strengths and weaknesses to be able to help students beyond their understanding. There are eight multiple intelligences teachers can use to incorporate differentiated instructions to increase student learning. Gaining this kind of data will give teachers the information needed to guide students throughout the classroom.
Everyone learns in different ways, and that is exactly why more than one learning styles exist; to fulfil everyone’s needs! Although each learning styles are different, all are certainly effective in their own unique ways.
For an individual to learn they must be able to interpret the information effectively. Every student is unique and has different styles of learning. Faculty must be aware about the differences in learning styles and be able to accommodate all these in their teachings so that each student will understand and achieve success (Billings & Halstead, 2016). This paper is created in such a way that all the learning styles are considered and the objectives are formulated in meeting each needs of the students. In addition to this the learning outcome evaluation is performed on the basis of each student
My time spent at Parramatta Marist College as a casual Teacher has introduced me to Project and Problem Based Learning. My experience has made me familiar with this type of pedagogical practice as I observed and assisted students in their complex challenges. The culture of learning at Parramatta Marist focuses on knowledge attainment
The module was delivered through a mixture of lectures, seminars, tutorials videos, discussions, observations and the VLE ‘Moodle’. The approach to the teaching and learning methods employed was that of active learning, catering to different learning styles. An awareness of different learning styles can help teachers to sustain motivation by encouraging and facilitating pupils’ use of preferred styles but also providing support when using alternative approaches (Highland Council Education, 2010; Honey and Mumford, 1986, cited in McGill and Beaty, 1995). Active participation by the student group was encouraged throughout by myself, as their tutor.
In this article the focus is on providing an environment where students can collaborate and solve real world problems. In the article they discuss how students should interact when solving real world problems. The focus is clearly on the tools needed to ensure that project based learning is successful in schools. This article is relevant to my topic as it give
What do you know about learning styles? What is your learning style? How do you learn best? What are multiple intelligences? What do these intelligences mean in your life? Conduct research, read and take notes on learning styles and intelligences. What are spiritual gifts? What is the difference between spiritual gifts and talent?
In this article the focus is on providing an environment where students can collaborate and solve real world problems. In the article they discuss how students should interact when solving real world problems. The focus is clearly on the tools needed to ensure that project based learning is successful in schools. This article is relevant to my topic as it give examples of ways students and teachers can be successful when engaged in project based learning.
Prior to this course, I thought that in order to manage a project you need to be a project manager. However, this course changed my perspective on project management. As I continue to read the book, I realized that I actually manage many projects, and project management is not only limited to organizations. Throughout our lives, we manage many projects from planning a wedding to building a house, some of those projects may take few days and some may take years to complete. In addition, I also learned that there are no two projects that are alike, each project has it’s own unique elements that set it apart from other projects.
Project based learning (PBL) is a model which facilitates learning in students’ by encouraging them to explore and design a solution for a challenging question or a real life problem (Thomas, 2000, p1). This model is based on the constructivist approach in which knowledge is built upon by the students’ themselves through experience and engagement with the problem posed. This paper discusses and reviews the efficacy of PBL in acquiring information and communication technology (ICT) capabilities. This review is primarily focussed on the effect of PBL in secondary school students. The study examines the effectiveness of PBL under the
In nowadays society, the using of project management is more and more common today. The entrepreneurs are more likely to employ staffs who have learnt project management. So that learning the skill of project management is more useful and also important now. Larson and Erik (2011) mention that good project manager are trained or come from experience, not born. For this reason, in this essay it will discuss the fit between some published theories on project management and personal practice as a result of my participation in the Fit as a Fiddle project.
A bud can not bloom into a nourished flower without the proper patience and care. It must receive water and obtain direct sunlight in order to flourish. Similarly, a school must utilize patience and care to properly aid students to develop into nourished flowers. One of the ways a school nourishes their flowers is having expectations for students, as too much lee-way could lead to chaos. In addition to patience, care, and expectations, the mechanism in which teachers teach makes an impeccable difference in the classroom. Teachers have a choice of how to teach their students in order to have the material absorbed into their brains like a sponge. A teacher’s job has many complications due to the fact that every student has their strengths and weaknesses. Exploiting those weaknesses and relishing in those strengths should remain how a classroom works. To build a superior school, almost every student must feel as if they are learning something new each and every day. Project-based learning has the potential to take a student’s strengths and weaknesses and put them to good use. To build a greater school, the incorporation of project-based learning proves to have many assets due to the benefits that influence students inside and outside of school.
