Intro The music industry is rapidly evolving. Even in the last year, advances in computing technology have made it simple to create and distribute information to any part of the world. Because of this, in regards to the music community, there are more and more self-made, self-managed musicians than ever before. We call these musicians Do-It-Yourself Artists, also known as DIY. For example, Joe Bob can go to Wal-Mart with 100 dollars in his pocket, buy recording equipment, plug it into his laptop, and then upload his audio files to YouTube. Joe Bob becomes an Internet sensation overnight and wants to host a concert. How does he get tickets out there? Essentially by doing it alone, Joe Bob is an individual entrepreneur. One thing an entrepreneur has to do is: sell their product or service effectively. If he wanted to host his own live concert, how does he generate tickets and sell them to this massive digital audience? He clearly hasn’t met every fan. Well, Chris Stanchak has made that possible. While in college, Stanchak was approached by a peer to help solve a ticketing issue. His friend was hosting a rather large party at “hot” nightclub in New York City. He needed help promoting, selling, and distributing tickets. Existing ticketing companies wouldn’t work with this guy because it was a one-off event, so he was forced to find alternative means of ticket generation. He went to Stanchak, whom was managing another business at the time, and asked him to build a
The world went into meltdown and ticket sales were setting new records. The demand was so high, a 10-night residency show turned into 50 between 2009 and 2010. 360,000 tickets were sold during the presale. ‘One million people would have the
2.Now a days, concerts of famous artists are usually held in big stadiums and theaters, which brings a huge crowd of fans for affordable ticket prices and the same time, satisfies the high demanded payment for the top artists and earns a profit for the organizers of the shows. However, there are concert management companies, like Nederlander, that manages to charge higher ticket prices for small theater performances and to deliver a “sellout crowd night after night”(Video Case: Nederlander, p.1). Why is Nederlander able to do that when audiences could pay less at stadium concerts?
And he was eighty-four years old and he’d drummed merchandise in thirty-one states. And old Dave he’d go up to his room, y’understand, put on his green velvet slippers – I’ll never forget – and pick up his phone and call the buyers, and without ever leaving his room at the age of eighty-four, he made his living. And when I saw that, I realized that selling was the greatest career a man could want. (Miller 81)
Joe emerged his business by perusing his desire to run a business on his own. Together Joe and Larry took the risk and began Bannes-Shaughnessy Inc. in 1972 (Katz, 2011). Despite their prior experience and low amount of capital they began with, within five years they had received their first million dollar contract, proving their existence. From here on out their firm grew, so did their success, and in turn were helping the community. Joe was compassionate and his work and business reflected that. Their families were benefiting from their success as well as their own lives. They were perusing their dreams, and once Joe became the sole owner, he was able to take the business to the next level. It is as if he was beginning the growth stage again within his own company, he could now continue on focusing on the expansion and diversification of his
Appleby runs an annual concert where members of the Guitar Club are given a chance to perform the songs that they have been working on for the year. In 2015, I was the organizer of Guitar Fest, making announcements, preparing set lists, designing posters and getting other members of the club involved. Guitar Fest was very successful last year, with both a great audience turnout and amazing performances from club members.
In the book, “All in Startup: Launching a New Ideas When Everything is on the Line” the main character Owen Chase, the business owner of Rebicycle, attends The World Series of Poker tournament in Las Vegas. As a music publisher, one must interact with and have connections with A&R executives, producers,
The current music industry is a hard business for all musicians, whether they are a new artist or even a popular radio artist. Modern times have radically changed the way that musicians now make money. Past musicians used to be able to make a living simply by selling their music and playing a few major concerts to survive and even lives some luxurious lives and not really have to focus on anything except the art that they were creating. The music industry has transformed from being an art to becoming a challenging business job for anyone involved. Today, most musicians have to also be able to handle managerial business to get anywhere and make money or find someone to help them. Current musicians need to do more than just sell music
It will last for four hours and my goal is to sell as many tickets as possible, as selling every ticket would give me around £20,000, which would greatly contribute towards paying for the costs. Even without reaching this ideal, it allows for a far greater expansion in all areas of the project. The launch party will also provide some advertisement for my product, as the marketing ideas should build up enough attention for people to acknowledge my product. The launch party will also be used as an opportunity to sell merchandise, as people would associate the merchandise to the artist, and the memory of attending the live event. This is a key opportunity to sell merchandise, as it is the beginning of an artist's career, and merchandise from the beginning of an artist's career can be both a sentimental, memorable object, as well as a collectors object, and both hold values in different ways. In order to transport instruments and musicians to and from the venue, travel would cost around £200 to rent a vehicle for a weekend. This would be vital, as it is a cheap and efficient way to get everything to the live performance, and without it, there would be no live

Promotions such as giveaways, ticket discounts, raffles, etc. are a good way to attract fans. I would also highlight these promotions on Facebook and Twitter for all of my followers to see. Using the media is also a good use of traditional marketing because it is free. The media outlets can inform fans and potential fans about the upcoming events. This is a free and easy way for the program to spread information to the public.
As noted in an article on AirMedia.org “first, make a good product. Then, as you begin your climb, try to get on other people’s shows, as any cross-promotion is helpful. Doing a Kickstarter campaign can also help build awareness of your show (haven’t tried this yet) (Post, 2015).” While this is a successful path for many,
Participating in these events is another great way that Steve markets himself and the businesses. It really gives him a chance to get his businesses’ names out there.
We will raise the funds needed for our program and service goals by organizing music festivals and partnering with theaters, music halls. A special sales team will be formed, with a starting pay of $12 the hour, and for each $250,000 raise a 5% share for the team (4 or 5 persons), this team will target government agencies with budget for this purpose, private sector, and private donors. When musicians produce albums, they want people to listen to the albums. There is not one specific way for a band or single musician to gain an audience and promote their music. Musicians use many different kinds of media to promote their music. They use visual media as well as strictly listening media. The radio, television, and the internet are all different types of media musicians use to promote their music.
