Lack of external funding and personnel to focus on advancement and development remains the most important threat they are facing for long time. Lack of these factors are affecting their advancement and development to attract more students, registration and top notch faculty. Tenuous state of the nation’s and Georgia’s economies is also affecting KSU`s programs and University College`s place within the university. Their marketing efforts not giving the results as they wanted to, and hence there is limited knowledge about their efforts in the external environment. The low level of state funding on a per student basis compared to other universities in Georgia is leaving them with a disadvantage in expansion efforts. Their lack of brand recognition, and lack of public awareness is a threat. There are inaccurate perceptions of the university in the external environment about the quality.
Another threat is related to the high-quality job markets in which KSU competes. Their graduates have to compete in the job market around where the college is located. The area is a resource pool of high quality job candidates and there are some other top ranked universities in the Atlanta downtown which is near to Kennesaw. Hence, the KSU graduates are facing increased competition when searching job, and in getting firms for campus recruitment. This will make students to try for other universities that KSU. In addition, KSU has been facing difficulties in the recruitment, hiring of faculty and
I will start with the schools. I had the pleasure of talking to two administration individuals and one former teacher/coach. According to Assistant Superintendent Marsh Worthington, this is an area were the school is the weakest. Mrs. Worthington says, “that the district has a total
Some of LCU’s strength lies in the tight-knit community it offers. The connection students create with staff and professors are relationships that will last a lifetime. Another strength is the lower cost than average for a Christian based education. Weaknesses that LCU has incurred is that many that come to school on athletic scholarships are either foreign or have not previously been ministered to or lack a personal relationship with Christ. These students that come from places that have never heard much about Christianity in general are faced with a culture shock and sometimes have trouble adjusting to the community that LCU provides. This leads to many transferring to other schools. Also, the lack of an engineering program limits LCU to a certain percentage of students because of the academics that specific degree involves. LCU has a transfer program after two years, but that requires students to uproot themselves from the community they have worked diligently to build. Many students choose to begin their education at a different university, like Texas Tech, in order to obtain an engineering degree. If LCU offered an engineering program, it would likely increase
First of all, the college made the appropriate decision when cutting the 22 classes. The school’s endowment dropped by 20 percent, meaning that their endorsements were not as high as they
The organizational culture and climate were both factors that seemed to be leading to the closings of the Culpeper and Hampton campuses and ultimately led to the closure of the Staunton campus. Looking at the organization in terms of management, the lack of communication appeared to be a contributor to its suffering. The parents, students and most shockingly, the faculty were all ill-informed by those running the institutions. While their focus seemed to be on comforting families and eliminating stress in these situations, they did not exchange honest and constructive information with them which resulted in a very hostile situation and left many of the students without schools. Not only did this affect the families of the students, but it also had a significant effect on the faculty, who were shocked by the changes. From the start, the organization had set a precedent that they were both community and achievement oriented. Consequently, the organization lost the name they had made for themselves because of their failure to communicate to those that invested their time and trust in the institution.
Faculties have a low supplier power. If a faculty has fewer high paying alternatives outside
DSU was founded in 1925, in Cleveland MS, where this school was mainly a predominately ‘White’ institution. Just like other schools in the Deep South, there were several of stipulations for other minorities to attend the universities. DSU has since then allowed every ethnicity to attend the university all over the world. Now for students there are over 60 programs that they can chose from when deciding on a career, whether its online or in a class room setting. Every university in MS are competing with each other, but in my opinion DSU and MS Valley are just a like when I come to colleges in a rural area. DSU is one of the many universities that offer nursing, and aviation program. The main goal for DSU is to increase enrollment and have a higher turnout rate. All schools will see a turnover rate but school officials are trying to change that any way the can. School officials are targeting students in the delta area, instead of targeting other areas in MS. My advice to the school officials will be to expand their horizons, have recruiters go out and promote the university, which would help boost up there retention rate. I will give my recommendations for growth, maturity, and decline for colleges over the state of MS. How can school officials keep students enrolled in school until he or she completes the entire program? I feel that the amount of enrolled individuals inside of a class setting will have an effect on the schools growth. Most students prefer a
My recent decision to enroll in a university to continue and complete my pursuit of an undergraduate degree was not especially difficult. Selection of and commitment to a particular university was not as simple. Multiple factors including, but not limited to, price point, reputation, ease of access, and career relevance were weighed. I selected Western Governors University and remain very satisfied with this choice. Cost is a major determining factor, and one in which WGU holds a tremendous advantage over competing learning institutions.
The university is becoming too business focused and losing grip on what it was originally intended to provide: and education. All universities receive some kind of funding no matter if they are public or private. Oftentimes, funding is critical to the functioning of all universities. Without the funding, the university would falter. Because of this dependence, the funding is dictating where the money is dispersed. Weather it is to new research, tenured professors, or expensive presidents of universities like Hacker and Driefus propose (Hacker and Dreifus. Are Colleges Worth the Price of Admission? par 7, 9, and 10). Or allowing professors to receive private funding to provide new research (Hank and Hearn. Out of the Ruins, The University to
Like any other state, South Carolina is suffering an economic downturn. One of the problems is that the state has a financial obligation to cover federal programs such as Medicaid and Medicare. This leaves the state with little to no funding for other state services. One of those state services includes higher education. Since most of the money that funds colleges and universities comes from the state and federal government, if that money is cut, the institutions have to find other means to gather the money they need. When this occurs, it makes higher education unaffordable for state residents. Besides causing tuition rates to rise, budget cutting causes institutions to cut programs and services, cancel professional development opportunities for faculty and staff, delay necessary facility renovations and construction, lay off employees etc. Due to this, it leads many to believe that budget cutting causes a decrease of quality for higher education. The purpose of this research article was to prove that it is difficult to maintain the quality of higher education while losing valuable resources. Brinkman and Morgan designed the study to identify a potential correlation between the budget cuts and the quality of South Carolina higher education.
With this being said, higher education accounts for approximately 18.1% of the total state budget and 8.2% of the general fund. Unfortunately this is still far below the “maintenance level” that is required for the universities to provide the same level of service as they did the year before. A maintenance-level budget includes cost increases over which the institutions have no control, such as negotiated wage and benefit agreements, inflation in the cost of goods and services, and increased energy costs. Once a so many students apply they can only accept a certain number of newly enrolled students, they then make the college a more selective school. Once a college becomes more selective it attracts higher student and faculty. Wichita State since their high profiled history-making success in 2014 being the first to go 30-0 then going to the final four had a tremendous boost in enrollment applications going from 2,874 to 5,120 the following
The study of the merger reflects statistical analysis of parishes based on educational and financial statuses. Many statistical facts relate to Orleans Parish’s lack of educational efficiency. It seems that the merger would mostly be an elimination of SUNO. The elimination will then decrease educational opportunities for students in Orleans Parish. Before considering an approach, Orleans Parish Schools should be studied. Statistical facts and approaches will then be implemented to advance educational standings. The advancement of youth education will then produce adequate preparedness of higher education. To achieve this plan parents, teachers, and school officials should become increasingly involved. Improving statistical analysis will demand advanced educational materials and resources, teachers who have a passion for enhancing tomorrow’s future, and parent involvement.
There are many causes of project failure and every failed project will have its own set of issues. Sometimes it is a single trigger event that leads to failure, but more often than not, it is a complex entwined set of problems that combine and cumulatively result in failure. In case of Avon, though implementation of SMT model was a the next logic step which would give a tremendous boost to its direct marketing structure, there were some pretty drastic errors made which led to catastrophic failure of the project. The prime causes of failure in case of Avon were:
