If possible most high school students get a job whether that’s during the summer or even throughout the school year. Similarly, I had been looking for a job for some time as well. Fortunately, I had found some temporary work during the summer but decided that my love for learning and education was far more important. Then during the beginning of this sophomore year, I meet a gentleman through school who had sent his sons through a college program while they were still in high school. He proposed the idea that I should look at my early college career as an investment. His reasoning behind going to school instead of working was that each year completed would mean another full year in the workforce creating an income that is more than three times

We reside in high school for four short years. To some four years seems a lifetime, but for a highschooler, four years couldn’t feel any shorter. And in my four years I can tell you what remained true; if you’re running late,take your time because you’re late either way and your gpa does not decide your destiny but most importantly, you are in charge of your future. These all turned out to be truths because we don’t know what we’ll be doing tomorrow, for some of us even in the next couple hours. Not having a 4.00 gpa doesn’t mean that you’re gonna spend your adult years scrubbing toilets at Mcdonalds. We spend so much time worrying about our futures and sometimes neglect the things that keep us sane. So I guess what i’m trying to say is that we all need to chill.

Life after high school can be one of the most difficult decisions in your life. And it is not just one decision, the college you choose can alter many aspects of your life. When you attempt to choose a school to go to you have to take into consideration many things. You have to know the major you want to go for, the minors, location, tuition cost, et cetera. I have so many options for the next step in my life. For this paper, however, I have narrowed it down to two options: Miami University and the University of Cincinnati. It is a close race between the two, but based on my recent visit to Miami going there for college would be the better option for my future.

In my senior year of high school, my goals were getting offers from colleges and getting “5”s in my AP tests. For the most of the time, all I need to do is to follow the instructions from my college counselors and teachers. So it was not very hard for me to reach my goals with their help. I did not need to make a lot decisions by myself except choosing which colleges I want to apply.

Having been asked about the moment that I wasn’t successful, I picked when I dropped out of high school. After having my son, I tried going back to school; I thought I could finish without any problems. I thought it was going to be a breeze, to finishing something that I already started. In many public schools around the nation, students feel as if they are not prepared for the real world in high school. They believe they need less Calculus and more money management or other class that will be needed once out in the real world. Many kids feels as when they graduate they are just dumped out into the real world and know nothing about how to do the everyday tasks that are necessary to be a successful human being. Not all young adolescents that graduate high school, advance to the next level in the academic world. These educational paths are “partially set long before they enter adolescence” (Sigelman 302). The level of achievement motivation that we gained in childhood in turn influences our decisions and life outcomes. Bright and achievement-oriented young adults are less likely to drop out of high school and further their educations by enrolling in college. Do you like being pressured into knowing what you want to do before completing high school? What if you had a little more time to decide? What about having the chance to make some money in the process? This is possible. I know that when students graduate from high school it can be difficult for them to choose their path or even afford to go to college. Sometimes we feel like we are too young to know what we want to do with our lives after high school. Don’t fret. There is a way to can succeed. Students can go to college and know what you want, all they need to do is take a “gap year”. Students should take a gap year before starting post secondary in order to explore career options, to save funds for school, and to develop mature habits.

While walking through the electric sliding doors, I smelled disinfectant wipes and saw a plethora of dark blue scrubs, white lab coats, and street clothing. I entered an elevator to my right. Once I got to the third floor, I made a sharp left and saw the patient transport room containing several other young people all wearing the same blue polo shirt. I was home. For my graduation project, I volunteered at three different hospitals: Paoli Hospital, Bryn Mawr Hospital, and St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children. After accumulating almost two-hundred hours in various hospital environments, I have made important decisions that will affect my post-high school life.

“Where are you planning on going to college?” This is a question most will encounter when in their four years of high school in the United States of America. By the time high school students are seniors they are expected to know the college degree that will best suit their future career. Many of these students, not knowing the exact career they want to achieve, will pick a major to study in college that interests them. However, they generally have little to no experience in the career path they pursue, making it easy for them to change their minds. Changing majors after taking courses can be an enormous waste of time, money, and effort, so instead of diving straight into college after high school, high school graduates should get a job in the career field they are interested in for a few years before enrolling in college. Although school guidance counselors may advise against taking time off of school, after experiencing different career options students will have a better idea of where they want to go with their college and career paths.

As the oldest child in my family, my mom and dad always expected me to be the best child. They expected me to get good grades, to be a good student and for me to go to college. My parents always thought that I was better than most kids since I didn't do drugs or constantly mess up. I had to be this perfect child that got good grades and was a good person. Growing up with this pressure on my shoulders, I pushed myself to be this perfect child. Even though I didn't like doing some of those things. I knew going to college after high school was expected of me. I never really liked school, and I wasn't sure what I wanted to be yet. But, I knew that I wanted to go to college so I wouldn't have to struggle in my life and with bills just like my parents did. The most important thing to me is that when I become older, I will be content and happy with my life. I had to go through a lot to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. I decided to become an art teacher.

My career choice didn’t cross my mind until my senior year. Other kids would always talk about becoming a cop, a doctor, and silly things like a billionaire. I was growing and learning to find myself. My interests and hobbies became more prominent and it got me to realize later in my teen years

When I was in sixth grade I found myself already set on what I would do with my life after high school. I would serve the greatest country in the world as a U.S. Marine. This idea to be a soldier was always there, I don't know why but it was. The idea of serving my country and giving back to all the people who gave to me has always been appealing. In return of what they did for me, I would give my life. Little did I know how much work it would be to get there. Six years later and here I am getting ready to live out my dream. At the end of my Junior year I got the opportunity to join the Delayed Entry Program, which is basically early enlistment. Now that my senior year is here the date of me shipping out is less than a year away. I must take every chance I can get to prepare for boot camp and the life challenges ahead. That’s where P.T. comes in. P.T. is set up to get you prepared both mentally and physically for boot camp. I understood the point but I never realized how mentally prepared you need to be. After my first day of school, I underwent intense P.T. Before an hour drive to Denver we stopped by the recruiters’ office in Greeley. There we had to sign papers waving the Marines responsibility for us. If we were to get hurt or die, then oh well you signed the paper. I questioned my decision to go at this point, wondering how demanding the P.T. would be. That night, me and other recruits stayed the night in the Marine headquarters. There isn’t much to tell about that

Everyone has dreams and aspirations on what they want to be when they grow up. I remember changing my ideal career three times as a kid. My heart was for sure set on being a fire fighter, then video game creator, and lastly a United States Marine. We all have passions and dreams that we want to achieve and for some they are very much attainable, but for the rest we need to realize it might not work out. This seems counter intuitive to what society tells us. “Follow your dreams, chase your heart,” but if we’re going to be honest not all of us are going to win the American idol and make it big. Not to push you away from pursuing your dreams, but finding a secure job is a wider choice. This is something I had to decide when choosing my career, I determined my passion, and what I was good at, then found a way to pursue both. This process helped me find the career path as well as the colleges I would need to obtain my goal.
