At Grosvenor Park Shopping Centre from Friday 21st of April to Saturday 22nd of April; there will be a used book and music sale. This sale was known to be shown in a newspaper ad, which had no information about the company or organization. In this ad, the color is just black and white and the title is centered, the font. This ad is also shown to be International. Even though this newspaper ad has adequate Logos and Pathos, the lack of essential Ethos makes it one of the worst examples to persuade book and music lovers. This newspaper ad has a lot of “Logos” or logic. The purpose the Anonymous Author is trying to get through the Audience is not achieved mainly because the newspaper Ad is missing a lot of Visuals like for example pictures of …show more content…
I say this because there is no sign at all from the Author which makes him Anonymous and which also means that we can never find out if the Author had any credentials or anything in specific that would make him believable. In order to make this ad credible we would have to know who the Author is and then we would be able to get some background that would make this newspaper Ad more trusting. If you were to look at this ad you would know, at that very moment that the Author doesn’t show fairness and it is not quite knowledgeable. Ad shows no biases at all due to the fact that it shows no information and when an ad shows no information it is not a very good one which makes it a bad uninteresting one. The Author’s tone towards the ad is a very dry one, it doesn’t show a lot of excitement due to the fact that it is black and white. The ad isn’t vivid which makes it very Dark and …show more content…
A lot of authority is needed in this ad in order to impress the audience, the ad has to have all three. No persuasion is shown and this ad was just one of the worst examples I have ever seen. The Author didn’t do a good job when making this ad because the purpose of it didn’t get to people. This ad should of had more visuals of the books to be shown or music being shown, it should of had a vivid color also. No one wants to see a black and white ad because that is just plain boring and dry. A lot of things are missing and even the text is not good enough because it just shows the basic information and the size of the ad is not big enough. This ad was such a disappointment and I hope that whoever sees this ad notice how bad this ad is and for the one who sees it, to understand and to never make the same mistakes this Anonymous Author
This is no more apparent than in the poem that is written on the top right of the ad:
What seems to be the most attentive layout of the ad is the rock star side of the man in the image. The rock star has long black hair, black makeup around his eyes, no shirt, lipstick kiss prints all over his body, stud necklace and bracelets, as well as a huge fictional guitar with three necks on it. One of the necks is a normal six string guitar, the second is a twelve string guitar, and the most unbelievable of the three is a saxophone. Hanging on one of the necks of the guitar is a girl’s bra. This part of the advertisement is the most important to the value and attraction of the ad. Since the ad is in a pop/rock culture magazine, this would be an obvious attention getter that would stop many of the readers of this magazine.
The ad above displays a fetus on three-fourths of the page on the left side. The statement "TAKE MY HAND NOT MY LIFE" is written in semi big letters on the right side. The words "TAKE MY" are in white letters. The word "HAND" is in blue letters and is noticeably bigger than both the first line and the third line. And the words "NOT MY LIFE" are slightly smaller than the first two words and are in yellow. Near the end of the page, on the right lower side it says "LIVEACTION.ORG". The statement is centered to the right while the fetus takes most of the page. The words are capitalized so that they do not get lost. The background is nothing but black. The fetus, on the other hand is colorless, it is almost transparent. The features on the fetus lack detail but they make it distinguishable as
Have you noticed that you read or even watch an article that just doesn't seem right, you get to the end and realize that you basically just watched an advertisement for a new product that is coming out. This author did and they stated their opinion about it in the article “Print Media and the Rabbit Hole” by Brad Zembic. In his article, Zembic is talking about how advertiser find their way to trick people to read their sales pitches and advertisements in sneaky fashions.
The advertisement is uniquely made. For starters, the words used, are in a font that is readable. The text consists of the colors yellow and white. Larger font is used on
Advertisements are a part of our everyday lives and we encounter thousands every day on television, in newspapers, on the radio, on the internet. Advertisements use three basic tricks to persuade the people as listed by Aristotle: Ethos, Pathos, and Logos. Ethos is an appeal to ethics, and it is used to convince the viewer of the credibility. Pathos is an appeal to emotion and is used to convince the viewer by creating an emotional response. Logos is an appeal to logic and is used to persuade the viewer by logic. An advertisement may use one, two or a combination of all three. They have the power to persuade us into buying things that we might or might not want. Not every advertisement aims at materialistic things. Some advertisements want to educate us on a persistent issue, some might want to raise awareness and even aid funding, some try to remind us of important events that might be taking place in our county. The advertising agencies try to be as creative as possible in order to grab utmost attention. But sometimes, in doing so, they end up hurting sentiments of a community of people. I will discuss one such advertisement in my journal below.
In the case of the GAP advertisement, at the primary level it is possible to see that the image is clearly a picture of two children, a boy and a girl, on a white background. The girl, addressed as “the social butterfly”, wears a white sweater with a “G” on it over a blue shirt, a navy pair of trousers, white shoes and a headband cat-hears-shaped; the boy, instead, addressed as “the little scholar”, wears a t-shirt with Einstein’s face on it (with the physicist’s name misspelled), a shirt, grey trousers and black shoes. The girl’s picture is placed side by side to an ad copy that declares “Chambray shirts +logo sweaters are the talk of the playground” and the boy’s one is accompanied by an ad copy stating “Your future starts here. Shirts + graphic tees = genius idea”. The typography on the advert is black and sans serif, therefore conveying a message of modernity, seriousness and trustworthiness.
One of the strongest aspects being used in this ad is Pathos. By appealing to emotions, a writer can influence a reader’s opinion. The
The message conveyed through advertising influences the purchasing decisions of consumers. That’s why advertiser uses the three appeals as a way of persuading people to buy certain products or to understand the message that they’re trying to convey. For most advertising appeals, they are designed in a way that creates a positive image of the content in the ad. However for this advertisement, that is not the case at all because the attitude and the message of this posters is to make them understand that a change must take place. These ads are using an advertising strategy of appeal to the reader's pathos.
The image contains the words, “One child is holding something that’s been banned in America to protect them. Guess which one.” The print is in white located on top in the middle of the ad, until “guess which one” which is in red. The author used the red words to represent blood and the seriousness of the situation; however the words are too small and one has to strain a tad to read the text. The words also blend into the black background too easily making it even harder to read. This difficulty to decipher the ad almost defeats the purpose, which isn’t efficient. One might argue the creator was trying to have
There are a few ideas and issues that are raised in the text that I can point out. I think that the idea of having an ad about the worlds history and issues while showing normal every day Australians playing out the roles and then able to hide the real message is a sensational advertisement.
The advertisement is for Sisley about "Fashion junkie" the Copywriter is Sandy Sang, the advertisement has been published in June 2007. The advertisement shows of two models looking like they are inhaling drugs as the model on the right the body language looks like she is in the case of drugged. Those models who are addicted to the Sisley clothing, but there is a part showed there is a real drug on the credit card. In my opinion, advertisement is the important way to promote products and attract customers I think it is a breach of the literature, scandal brand like Sisley, and trifle advertisement for what are they doing !, to the extent that these are making adult and teenagers showed this type of advertisement though they will make teenagers

“Advertising is far from impotent or harmless; it is not a mere mirror image. Its power is real, and on the brink of a great increase. Not the power to brainwash overnight, but the power to create subtle and
