Why is it that the regulations on receiving a mammogram are always changing? I believe it has to do with the different generations of women. Society's views are always adapting with new facts and inventions. Upcoming generations are becoming more informed with the evolution of technology. This knowledge plays a significant role in how we manage our lives. One important aspect of our life is our health. Today, people are proactive about staying healthy and learning about their body. Since technology is now a major factor in our lifestyle; people who grew up in this era are more familiar with it. This group of people are called Generation X and Generation Y. The time span for this generation are people born between 1965 and 1986. Generation X and Generation Y have a different mind-set than the generation before them (Andolina & Lillé, 2011). Generation X and Generation Y are more likely to research their physician, disorder, and medication. In earlier time, it used to be that what the doctor said was correct, and you had to do what they said. With having the internet and being able to communicate all over the world, people now question if their doctor has the best plan. Generation X and Generation Y are most known for this type of action. They are comfortable working with technology and finding a possible better solution to their health. A portion of Baby Boomers are still prone to take their doctor's advice to heart. They still hold onto the idea that what the doctor says is best. However, the majority of Baby Boomers have some similarities of Generation X and Generation Y because unlike their parents, they are proactive.
