Modern policing grew out of private security concerns. Crime prevention is a major issue in our society. A greater burden is being placed on public law enforcement to respond to crisis situations. As a result, the consumer is turning to the private security industry to help protect our communities and businesses. Private security agencies are one of the fastest-growing entities in our country. The demand for security services is growing at stellar 6% rate a year in our post 9/11 climate. This trend shows no sign of abating. There are many different actors within a private security firm, license private patrol officers, private investigators, alarm company’s operators, bodyguards, and executive protection agents.
Starting a security company requires specific state and federal laws to be followed. You must possess experience in the field, take the necessary training courses, and be responsible for training your employees. All owners or managers of security companies must meet and maintain certain requirements. Managers in charge of the private-security-related businesses must be a DCA-qualified manager. Security agencies are regularly required to complete numerous different financial statements for a variety of reasons. Among the more common financial statements are a cash flow statement, and a shareholder’s equity statement.
