Introduction
This individual report is based on a portfolio of evidence from our group project, from the initial research, through design, development and testing of a user-centred organisational system, in our case a university questionnaire designed to evaluate modules taught at the university, filled by the current students and based on their module-related experience.
Aim of the project was to create user-friendly module evaluation survey containing the most relevant student experience data which results could be visible to students and also reviewed by the academic staff. This would provide them with an easy to understand module related feedback which can be used to deepen the understanding of how a certain module is perceived by

Literature Review
(a referenced critical review of the benefits and challenges of user-centred organisational systems including legal and ethical issues relating to user data.)
Methods
(a referenced description and justification of the methods used to gather user requirements and to design, develop and test your system. Explain your sample and ethical considerations. It should be possible to reproduce your work from your description of the methods)
First step was to review the questionnaire prototype made by university. Intended users would be students and academic staff. Decision was made to create a Context of Use - wrote the actual conditions under which the survey will be used. Through further evaluation we identified the main requirement which was also a technical constraint – an electronic/online rather than paper-based survey which will have to be responsive on various devices.
To select the most effective and relevant research design, the team used a so called “Research Onion” (Saunders, Lewis and Thornhill, Research Methods for Business Students, page 83, year 2015). As the most suitable research design for this project we selected the non-experimental because it can be carried out in natural environment and survey is one example of this type
Questionnaires are “a series of questions asked to individuals to obtain statistically useful information about a given topic” (Bryant, L, 2014). There are different types of questionnaires that include face to face, phone, post and online.
The commonly used methods of observation, interviews, etc., can help analysts pinpoint exact requirements based on user input and business processes. According to Charvat (2003), “One of the biggest benefits of a proper user requirements specification is that you'll be able to plan and estimate your project correctly, decreasing the chance of cost and time overruns.” The analyst must listen to the employees and gain a thorough understanding of all business processes before establishing the new system requirements.
This paper will review different styles of research design along with how different variables within research can be measured.
The population is undergraduate students of UM and we eliminated the unsuitable sample based on the information of questionnaires (exclude the outliers, blank questionnaire, context is contradictory and so on). Then we selected 30 questionnaires per college year which year 1 to year 4 (30*4=120) from all the completed questionnaires. We used convenience sampling method to distribute the online questionnaires openly. And we received the completed questionnaires online which are from google form.
A questionnaire is research which involves a number of different questions to gather information from the people who are filling it in. Questionnaires are designed as a way to find out what people are thinking. An advantage of questionnaires is that it is very practical because it is quick to collect information from the people filling out the questionnaire. Another advantage of questionnaires is that the same questions is asked to everyone filling the questionnaire out so easy to sum up. The final advantage to questionnaires is that large information can be collected. There are also some disadvantages to questionnaires which is that there is no way of telling how much though someone who is filling the questionnaire out has put it. Another disadvantage is that the person filling it out may forget what has happened to fill it out so it won’t be reliable. The final disadvantage to questionnaires is that there is no way to tell how truthful a respondent is being.
For me, I do not have enough knowledge about this project and there are so many topics that I do not have an enough in depth knowledge. And I am serious about the part of doing a questionnaire survey.
This week is very significant; it is practice time. I get to create my own survey. I chose to be creative although I had to face some challenges and issues. I developed a survey containing 10 different questions.
For the final process of research, I conducted a simple survey because it was a primary source of information and it also gives views about specific questions that I wanted answers to. I developed 9 questions based on my background research using Survey Monkey which is efficient because it links to social media and collates the information as part of the process. The negative of this is I only received 11 replies, but on the positive side the people surveyed had an interest in the
Survey research designs are procedures in quantitative research for administering a survey or questionnaire to a small group of people (called the sample) in order to identify trends in attitudes, opinions, behaviors, or characteristics of a large group of people (called the population) (Plano-Clark & Creswell, 2010, p. 175). Researchers use a survey to describe trends, such as community interests in school bond issues or state or national trends about mandatory student uniform policies. To identify this design, look for the following key characteristics in the report: the researcher studies the attitudes, opinions, or behaviors of a large group, chooses a large number of participants using random selections, gathers information and describes trends in the data, and the researcher makes conclusions about the larger population.
Questionnaires are also disseminated to gather opinions from end users. In addition, analysts will observe the way the current system is used to perform day-day activities, and collect data. Analysis will be conducted on the different types of documentation used to understand certain rules, processes and procedures. Finally, a joint application design (JAD) can be conduct by way of a meeting with end users. The purpose of the JAD is to gather requirements that all parties can agree on (Valacich et al,
The strength of questionnaires is it can give an insight into respondent’s thoughts and opinions and also cost efficient as it is inexpensive.
The choice of a research design hangs on the question put forward and the eminent state of theory, and
As a marketing consultant, Shah’s Surveytastic Survey should align the same freemium model with a focus in growing the business and attempting to reach new customers. In fact, simplicity and easy to use survey platform is what they should target for to engage more individuals and get their feedback that can be used to collect meaningful data. To do that, Shah’s Surveytastic Survey could allow everyone who is part of the university (students or faculty) to sign up, create and send their surveys with basic features like having 10 questions, 100 responses and email support for free. Since universities tend to have professors students and faculty members from different demographics, Surveytastic Survey should include different language options
The purpose of doing research is mostly to answer a question or to solve a problem. The research work is started by identifying what type of data is needed and sources of obtaining this data. There are a number of data collection techniques such as questionnaires, interviews and personal observation. Besides all these sources secondary data can also be used. The final decision about overall research design is represented by selection of technique(s) used to obtain data and procedure(s) used to analyze this data. It is the core of whole research design. In the article, we use the “Research Onion” as symbolic word to describe relation between the core of research onion and outer layers on
In survey method research, participants answer questions administered through interviews or questionnaires. After participants answer the questions, researchers describe the responses given. In order for the survey to be both reliable and valid it is important that the questions are constructed properly. Questions should be written so they are clear and easy to comprehend.
