One of the best things I've done in my life is that I've constantly kept a dream journal. When I was only 14, I became interested in what dreams meant and ever since then I've taken my dreams very seriously. I use my dreams to help me understand what is going on in my life and what I need to do going forward. If you are not currently keeping a record of your dreams, let me list the reasons why you should take this dream journal challenge and start!
5 Reasons To Keep A Dream Journal
1. Others Can't Interpret Your Dreams For You
Everyone wakes up from time to time and wonders 'what did that dream mean?'
There are different places online you can go to get help to interpret your dreams. For instance, you can check out Dream Moods, type in 'ex-boyfriend' and get a pre-written response on what it means to dream about an ex-boyfriend.
Some of the interpretation is pretty good, and I'm not saying that it might not be an accurate interpretation for you. However, there is a good chance that it's not. The dream may not just about your ex-boyfriend (or whatever you dreamt about) and some generic interpretations. In fact, there may be something else in the dream, such as a place or feeling, that is the real focus of the dream and why you are having it.
When you keep a dream journal, you can write down all those little parts of the dream that make up the whole, and as you go over your dream you may find that the dream is more about something else than what you originally thought.
I remember having dreams and when I have had them they were very interesting, and I wander why. 1 Reading the text book, it says most people dream four to five times a night, but not all people remember their dreams upon awakening in the morning. Non-dreamers are often surprised by their dreams when they first awake. (Dennis Coon, 2016). 1 How meaningful are dreams? Some theorist believe that dreams have deeply hidden meanings. Others regard dreams as nearly meaningless. 2 Yet others hold that dreams reflect our waking thoughts, fantasies and emotions(hartmann,2011). I also looked up on the Dream Bible which I never knew that these sites exist, so it was very interesting reading the different sites. 3 The dream Bible says
Dreams are scenarios your mind creates which represents who you truly are, were and are destined to be. You 're mind creates illusions that either further enhance your knowledge on what your purpose in life is or could make you fear it. Dreams are essentially part of the foundation of a persons life. Rudolfo Anaya in the novel Bless me ultima uses the concept of dreams to demonstrate the growth and the loss of innocence Antonio faces from beginning to end.
First of all, dreams can motivate and help egg oneself on, helping give them have purpose and fulfillment in life. Many great, well-known, famous people are successful because they chased and worked hard to reach their goals. “If you can dream it, you can do it” is what Walt Disney said.
Dreams are a very important part of most peoples lives. For me, dreams provide a way to motivate myself to do well. They give me something to strive for, so if I’m struggling or lacking drive, I can think about my dream and it will keep me going. Having a dream is also important to me because your dreams, in my opinion, define the kind of person you are. Many times people’s dreams reflect what a person likes to do or what they want in life.
Dreams have many meanings some come in various different forms. Some dreams have very deep meanings while others are just simply a product of your imagination. For example some people experience Deja Vu. Deja Vu is when you have a dream of something and then it comes to life. People who have had Deja Vu have been very surprised. A dream is a product of your imagination some are just entertaining while others might be viewed as life lessons. Some dreams have deeper meanings into them, you just have to look for them. For example some people have been having dreams of going to a certain place then the next morning they end up in the same exact place. When you arrive at the place you will have a certain feeling like you have been here before then you will remember that your dreamed about it. Dreams have so much to to do with your imagination but some are no product of your imagination but a product of reality. Dreams have many meanings they might be good, bad, and scary ,whatever they are they are still a product of you. Likewise In Bless Me Ultima by Rudolfo Anaya, Antonio’s dreams, thoughts, and actions help identify who he is and what he is meant to be . There are several examples of Antonio finding
Dreams are incredible when you learn what they are mean and why we dream at all. They come in many categories and our for granted by many, but as known are for our benefit and should not be taken as anything
A dream would give us a sense of direction. A dream would lighten up your future. Leo Tolstoy has once said, “Ideal is the beacon. Without ideal, there is no secure direction; without direction, there is no life.” A dream would motivate you to strive your best. My dream and objective were clear in my mind when I was working in the ranch. My dream was my guiding light that guided me through obstacles and brought me to success.
The mystery of dreams have fascinated people for years. Do they have significant meaning? Do they predict the future? Is our subconscious mind trying to warn us about our waking state of mental health and awareness? There are an abundance of websites and books that help interpret significant bits and pieces of dreams that we remember. Using a few of these websites I’ll interpret a few of my own dreams and what significance they may have had at the time that they occurred and how each one can be used as a coach for future challenges.
The dream that I chose to use interpret with the dream dictionary was about a car crash. I was in the passenger seat of a car driving up an overpass and the car fell off the overpass.
Thesis Statement: Dream interpretation is important because it allows us to see the exactly what a dream is, to find significance in our dreams, and to face our subconscious problems.
A dream is a goal in life, not just dreams experienced during sleep. Most people use their dreams as a way of setting future goals for themselves. Dreams can help to assist people in getting further in life because it becomes a personal accomplishment. Langston Hughes's poem "Dream Deferred" is speaks about what happens to dreams when they are put on hold. The poem leaves it up to the reader to decide what dream is being questioned.
First, to fully understand where we are going when we are talking about dreams we first need to understand fully the meaning of consciousness and the varying levels that exists in the human brain. Consciousness is a concept explained by psychologists as the awareness of our environment
Can you remember the last dream you had? Maybe you could fly or were falling down an endless dark tunnel. Perhaps you were awakened by a horrific dream in the middle of the night. If any of you are like me you experience vivid dreams. I would like to start by share one of my dream experiences with you all. About two months ago I had a dream that my boyfriend was cheating on me, now I know all you girls and guys can relate to this. I wake up in the morning with my dream still fresh on my mind and in a horrible mood. I am furious at my boyfriend, and for what reason? He hasn’t even done anything, but the thing is in my mind he has, because my dream is so vivid and real to me. So guys maybe
However, the true exact meaning of dreaming hasn 't been proven, there has been new ideas, different methods to advances to both a psychological, science understanding of when it began and how it functions. What some of the studies have concluded is that dreams are a certain phase of the brain 's activities, that the mind experiences while you are sleep; sounds, pictures, ideas, and feelings. Both psychologists and scientist have theorized that dreaming is made up of the person’s mind, that ranges from being rare, normal, scary, and ordinary.
Dreams are “hallucinations of the sleeping mind” (Loftus & Ketcham). Dreams can be very vivid, loud, and even emotional. This is why it is easy to confuse them with reality. Dreams are kind of like taking all of a person’s wishes and emotions and putting them all in a little “shadow world” (Bynum) when they go to sleep at night. “What is common in all these dreams is obvious. They completely satisfy wishes excited during the day which remain unrealized. They are simply and undisguisedly realizations of wishes.” (Freud). A person may be experiencing an emotion or wishing for something without even realizing it at all. Dreams can sometimes show a person how they are truly feeling without even their own awareness of these feelings or wishes. A lot of a person’s reality and emotions are used in their dreams, however, this is not always the case. Dreams can also be extremely bizarre, confusing, and even repetitive. This is where the interpretation of dreams comes into action. Many people find it hard to believe that when they have a dream over and over again that it does not mean anything. These types of dreams are called recurring dreams. Recurring dreams happen
