My personal leadership vision is to lead a team of individuals that is never afraid to take the hill and to be that leader without compromising my values. I have two leadership goals for the immediate future to help me move forward towards my personal leadership vision. They are creating a vision statement for my division and establishing the urgency for change with my direct team. Three actions for each goal are presented and strategies for measurement of progress to each goal is discussed.
I am the manager of an internal division of a manufacturer with a direct team of six supervisors and one assistant manager. I have a total staff of 210 within my organizational structure. I have established my guiding coalition (Kotter, yyyy, p. ??) as

??). I am fortunate that my direct reports form a small guiding coalition to move forward with changes in my division. Although Kotter mentions that a guiding coalition must be powerful enough to make changes, all my direct reports are the supervisors of departments and are empowered to make changes to their areas (Kotter, yyyy, p. ??). They all have more years of experience in our division than I do, therefore I will draw upon the experiences, hopes, and wishes of my team to help in drafting a vision statement. This will create a statement that is from the team rather than pushed downwards from me and will help my team accept the direction we need to move forward.
Next my team and I must create our vision statement. According to Boal (yyyy), our vision statement must innovative features that are inspirational and offer a new order. They must also point out actions that the team can take to move towards the vision. And they must use powerful imagery to help people picture in their minds where the vision is pointing (p. ??). The statement that is created from my team’s feedback must encompass these attributes to have the maximum effect when communicated out. The creation of this statement will be an iterative process, with many versions being drafted and tested on my team before a final statement is found (Kotter, yyyy, p. ??). The vision statement we create must paint a bright picture of our future state and must be simple

I believe that education; preparation and planning are keys to success. My vision is to apply those principles to my work ethic and applies my knowledge and skills to my professional performance. Therefore, better my workplace delivering excellence in results and stand out as a leader. I strongly believe that the most important part of a business is its people, and example is the best way to express an effective organizational culture.
Columnist Kouzes and Posner stated, “As counterintuitive as it might seem, then, the best way to lead people into the future is to connect with them deeply in the present” (Kouzes and Posner, 2009, To Lead, Create a Shared Vision, para 7). A written vision statement is not valuable if the words lack vehemence. Shared vision implies that each member of the team or business is active and inventive. Actions become applicable when goals and objectives are clearly identified. Present activity will set the path for where the business is headed. The term shared means individuals are united.
The vision statement does meet the criteria outlined in the chapter it provided people with awareness of what they want their organization to be, short and reasonable. I wouldn’t make any changes its

As move through my career and move towards more strategic roles I will be required to consistently influence key stakeholders, who are not within my direct reporting line to achieve results. This is a capability where, if I can master, will directly impact the success of team and businesses I lead in the future.
This paper will incorporate four of the self-assessment I completed (Leadership, 2004). They are as follows; social motives in the work setting, my leadership styles, emotional intelligence, and team excellence. I will also identify and discuss my leadership characteristics, strengths, and weaknesses. We must first understand what leadership means. To lead, nonetheless, is to excite, to impact, and to inspire. Successful leaders move others to draw in incredibleness, to stretch out themselves and to go past their perform work necessities by producing innovative thoughts. It has been said that directors are individuals who do things right and leaders are individuals who make the best choice." This refinement is to some degree exaggerated since successful leaders do a considerable measure of overseeing and compelling chiefs need to lead.
What is your personal vision for leadership? How are you going to lead Others? Why?
Before taking the leadership class I viewed leaders and managers the same and I was thinking that only a few people at the top of an organization can lead. However I was wrong and today I view leadership as the challenge and responsibility of every individual with potential to make a difference. Today, I view leadership as a social influence. It is initiating and guiding and the result is change. Leadership is more art than science and more skill than knowledge (Manning, p.61).
The sum of education, experiences, and observations lays a foundation upon which I will grow to become a good leader. In this plan, I will focused on those aspects of leadership that I believe are most required for personal development as well as those which will be so significant for my future leadership career. I have identified three goals which will guide me in the development process. My goals are to develop my integrity, listening skills and communications skills. I assume that this plan will change and be altered as required by life circumstances.
My Personal Leadership Development Plan (PLPD), will demonstrate my awareness of great leadership and how it not only establishes the course and destination of my team, but it also equips others to effectively and efficiently follow by providing education, training, resources, and support as necessary. My study of the Full Range Leadership Model (FRLM) was important to me accessing my leadership strengths and weaknesses, and developing an action plan that includes setting goals, establishing priorities, appropriating gifts, talents, and creativity, and utilizing resources. As a leader, I am empowered to impact my followers to rise to, and when necessary, go beyond their believed potential.
A well written vision statement will give aspirations about how we feel and think about the future of the company. The message conveys a powerful statement that is frequently used in communicating the organizations vision and dream. It builds a frame of mind and helps to envision in the minds of others. The statement defines a conclusion of the company’s best achievements to inspire and challenge their people.
From research we see that there are many qualities that people value in leaders. Some of these qualities include: having high standards, supportive, inquisitive, involved, honest and having integrity. When I think about leadership I think of a person who is self-aware and always striving for improvement. To be a good leader you need to know how your personal biases may impact decision making in various situations. Bias or values can effect how you interact with those you come in contact with on a daily basis. A good leader can set the tone for students, staff, and parents by being consistent and clear in thoughts and in actions. The leader is the foundation of the building.
This coalition of leaders will develop a vision of the future and develop its path to implementation. Once this is complete, you are ready to communicate your vision to the Brigade.
An effectively communicated vision is a valuable management tool for enlisting the commitment of company personnel to actions that get the company moving in the intended direction.
