Nutrition, was the topic for Unit 2 and I must admit, it was pretty interesting. I thought that this unit was going to be more of taking notes, but no it was more of learning how to eat healthier, how having a bad habit of eating bad foods too much can be belligerent to our own lives. Exercising is a very important thing to do, at least 30 minutes-1 hour can help improve our personal health. Also I learned that being overweight, or obese can be a cause of many deaths around the world, and especially today, since we like bigger stuff, we want the bigger stuff. I also learned that since not only the U.S is the one with health problems, their is more countries with this problem, and we have to watch what we eat on a daily basis, since we can get diabetes, cholesterol, or any type of harmful diseases. I also learned how to work better with a group of people, and having to be assigned a job within the group, I know that working in a group will take commitment, and working with others will make you make time to work with your group, so everything can go well once you go present. I was happy to know that my group would do their work, and that we knew what to say when the time came to present.
During this Unit 2 of Nutrition, I know how to be vigilant in what I eat on the daily basis, even now. I think twice when I’m going to eat, or when I’m at a restaurant, I have to see what I’m going to order, and how much I’m going to order. Since we also talked about the sugary drinks, I’m
To determine the level of my fiber intake from a 3 day sample of my diet, I performed a Prospective Diet Analysis. On average, I consumed 22.3 grams of fiber, just missing the recommendation of 25 grams. Coherent to the findings of the related studies, my cholesterol intake decreased and by the third day totaled 124.5 mg, which relates to 42% of the Daily Recommended Intake of 300 mg.

The purpose of this assignment is to track and display the food choices we make and the way we eat affects our lifestyle and health. This paper addresses my personal food intake for the past three days. Next I will compare my food choices with my WileyPlus profile and determine whether I am maintaining healthy eating habits. There are foods that a person can eat in order to make sure that the daily required intake is being made. Sometimes it is really hard for a person like me to make sure I eat all the foods that I am supposed to so that I can consume all the nutrients that my body needs in a day. I know I will need to modify my eating
Proper nutrition is important in maintaining a long and healthy life. Most Americans are rushed due to their busy work schedules, and do not take the time to plan their diets properly. Like me, most Americans are unaware of the importance of eating a healthy diet and consume too many foods without the proper nutrients. Throughout my life I have been fortunate. I have not had any major health problems, and have been able to consume most foods without having to worry about gaining weight. These last two years, however, I started to gain weight and have become concerned with my diet. Changing my poor eating habits has been difficult for me, however, having this assignment has taught me that it is not as difficult as I previously
I have learned a lot from this two-day diet analysis assignment. In my two day assessment, I recorded my food intake, quantities, drinks, snacks, condiments, where and who I was with during the meal, the time of day, and the amount of time I spent eating. I was able to analyze my diet to examine what I was eating and what types of nutrients I was getting. I then compared all aspects with my recommended levels of nutrients for my dietary recommended intake. I learned that my eating habits are not the best and could lead to serious health problems in the future that may be detrimental.
I. Before you eat a meal or snack do you ever actually think about where it comes from, what is in it, and how it will affect your body? Most people these days consider eating to be a mindless act, especially when they are so busy with school, work, and other things. They eat foods that
During my three-day food intake I learned about myself. There are many benefits of good nutrition. ”Medical Online” states “besides helping you maintain a healthy weight, good nutrition is essential for the body and all its system to function optimally for a lifetime.” A healthy diet promotes good sleep, gives the body what it needs to stay healthy, and provides energy. According to “Mealtime Memo” Good nutrition means getting the calories that we need for energy and the nutrients we need for proper growth. I’m learning that variety, balance, and moderation are the key to healthy nutrition. As I am learning what I should and should not eat I will like you to invite you to take a look at my food intake. This essay will converse about my

When I started my college journey I wasn’t sure how, but I knew I wanted to help people. After completing a nutrition course and I was amazed by the impact that nutrition has on the human body. It was then when I decided to pursue a career in Dietetics, I wanted mycareer to be applicable to my personal life. because I wanted to study something that would be applicable to my daily life. My family has struggled with Hypertension and Diabetes for a number of years, which also motivates me to learn about disease prevention through nutrition. I am passionate about nutrition and helping others achieve a healthy lifestyle and wellbeing through a healthy well balanced diet. I enjoy being exposed to new things that can expand my knowledge (move to a
In the past few weeks, I have attempted to exercise at least 5 times a week, challenge myself by eating more fruits and veggies, drinking more water, eating more superfoods, and getting at least 8 hours of sleep at night. I also worked on overall improving my own wellness with more meditation, winding down at night before sleeping, and dumping the processed, unhealthy foods. At the beginning, I thought this would be simple, but as days passed, I soon realized how unhealthy my usual lifestyle is and how much better I was feeling focusing more on my health. From running a mile around the neighborhood to sleeping more at night, I saw an improvement physically and mentally.
The lesson that was completed in stage three directly aligns with the Common CoreStandards and are things that should be accomplished at the fourth-grade level. The concepts that were taught were all factors that would help illustrate the bigger picture to students so they could understand the logic behind this lesson.By the fourth grade, students need to have a good grasp on nutrition. They need to understand why healthy eating is important and ways they can achieve that. They are beginning to think for themselves and need to know that important choices with food is imperative for their health. By having them complete pamphlets that would be distributed, they need to understand what they are promoting. By having them go through the different steps that were in stage three, they were able to gather that information and help them boost their understanding of nutrition and healthy foods. Throughout stage three, technology was used in planning and helping the students achieve their learning goals. The first example of the lesson accomplishing this was when the students had to watch the nutrition video on the computer on the first day of the lesson. This was an informative video that was age appropriate. I think that without the students watching this video they would have had a difficult time reaching their goals with this lesson and future, related lessons. By having the students view this video it helped them connect the content and specific learning goals. They were
We are required to obtain certain amount of nutrients from food. Food can simply divide into 2 groups, macro-nutrients and micro-nutrients composition. Both of the groups mentioned do affect the metabolism rate. According to Hulbert and Else, dietary fatty acid will affect the metabolism rate and some of the polyunsaturated fatty acid will increase the metabolism rate (1999). Meanwhile, different kinds of animals have their own unique requirement for macro-nutrients, such as proteins, carbohydrates and fat. Moreover, most of the food intake is driven by achieving the required protein intake. Animals on a low protein diet will over eat carbohydrates and fat until the protein requirement has been satisfied. If this case
In my opinion, the word diet means particular foods that individuals eat and this is done customarily. The diet that I am costume to consist of me eating foods that have an enormous amount of trans fats and saturated fats in them. The 2010 dietary guidelines are focused on balancing calories, foods to increase and foods to decrease in our everyday food intake. My diet is lacking when it comes to the 2010 Dietary Guidelines. Even though the dietary guidelines are updated every five years when I looked at the 2010 dietary Guidelines I am far away from accomplishing the standards that I should be following.
I feel that the single most important concept that I learned this semester was, “You cannot out-train a bad diet.” I know that I am guilty of thinking and have heard that people exercise just so that they can eat whatever they want. I know that I have always thought if I burn hundreds of calories I can continue my bad eating habits. The other important item that goes side-by-side to this concept is that you have to have a balance in what you eat. Supertracker website really showed me the items that I was missing in my diet. It also helped me realize that I was getting way to much sodium in my diet, and I feel that this is a pretty good reason why I have some high blood pressure. I was also consuming way too much
