On Monday, October 23, 2017. I went to the Bergen family center to carry out observation and assessment of children, from age 3 to 5 years old. For my observation, I set out to the achieve the different developmental milestone of the children along with the cognitive, emotional, and Physical development of the kids. the environment has a naturalist feel and all the staff are friendly and welcoming. The classroom displayed was eye-catching and also educational. The class that I observed it was well organized in the area that the books were kept on a shelf in the corner was labeled with an image along with the word library above. This was done, so the children know where to put the books after they finish reading.Next, to the library, there is a section where they do dress up or pretend play with the different costume. …show more content…
On top of that in the class, they have a small piano for music, comfortable chair, and beds, etc. They also have a table. Where the children sit and have snacks and play with the building blocks with enough space to work. The looks on the kids face you could tell they were happy with their environment. On the walls in the classroom was different artwork from the children, stamps, and pictures. Also on the wall, they have Alphabet, Numbers (Spanish, English) posters, and interactive puzzles. however, I observed kids sharing, playing together, and having an intelligent conversation. The teacher's interaction with the children is excellent, they display their developmentally appropriate practice where they provide children with new materials, idea during different activities. Not to mention, during the observation, I did not see the same interest materials out
The rooms were inviting, and the students were engaged in learning. I quickly noticed that having a positive, and inviting classroom environment is of upmost importance for successful student learning. As the students walked through the second grade classroom they were greeted with a hug. When the students’ finished their morning work, the chimes signaled the students to line up, and transition to their first class of the day which is Science. This is where I was able to observe both Mrs. Stanford, and Mrs. Taylor
The materials presented for the age level is perfect, there are markers and even crayons out for them to write and draw pictures whenever they want to. But there aren’t any pens or permanent markers out knowing the children are not old enough yet, there is scrap paper out, but not a whole lot for them to make a mess with. Also there is a sand and water table but at a level where they won’t make a huge mess, and know not to make a mess. If the children were two years old in this room, there would be a lot of changed made to everything. Not a lot would be out in access for them to get at, the little toys and other toys would be up and away so they wouldn’t choke. The schedule and writing on each object of what it is would be popping out so the children can feel it, but also look more at pictures more than words. Their schedule would even be shorter and less play time since children need more time to learn but also play at the same
The first level of teaching I observed was early childhood, which I am currently interested in making my major. I went to Ms.Bizena’s preschool classroom at The Chapel School in Bronxville, NY. Her class consisted of five boys and four girls on that day. I arrived at about 8:30 and that is also when the students started coming in. When the students arrived they were allowed to have some “free play” time, some of the activities
I want to build a sense of community were discipline problems can be prevented, children can feel safe, secure, nurtured and supported by the environment through thoughtful arrangements. The large amount of space in my classroom will be devoted to the arrangement of individual student desks the U-shaped desk pattern in my classroom will allow me to make eye contact with every student and reach each student with ease and this is also good for frequent whole-group discussions. I will provide open passageways through the aisles so the children can move around the room, this is essential for children in wheelchairs to have mobility. My classroom will have brightly colored posters, rugs and furniture such colors as yellow, orange, red and green will be on the classroom walls. I will have a bulletin board in the entrance for posting lesson plans, information about special classroom activities,
Hi everyone, I am observing on Wednesdays from 8-10 and Fridays 3-4 in Cuesta Children’s Center Preschool 2. I believe a child’s environment can affect their mood, social skills, ability to learn, mental health, and physical health. These essential elements need to be meet or it will affect their adult lives. I feel the Cuesta Center does a remarkable job of offering all of these, and has wonderful transitions throughout the day. I enjoy observing the teachers modeling acceptable class room behaviors, asking open-ended questions while using descriptive language to help to expand children’s speech, and they were engaged in the children’s presents. I was engrossed with how the class offers multiple opportunities for children to broaden their
1. The three videos have displayed many examples of pre-operational children's abilities and inabilities. Children enter the preoperational stage of cognitive development during the pre-school years. They now have the capacity to think symbolically. Symbolic play is one example of a cognitive function that preoperational children can engage in that younger children cannot. They can use blocks to represent something else (a building), as shown in the video "Preoperational Stage." They can also engage in pretend play, where they imagine different scenarios that represent different objects/people. The "theory of mind" states that children's views of how minds work are very different than the view that you or I would have. In the mind of the 3-year-old, everyone sees the world the same way. But once you turn five, an understanding develops that is much similar to ours. They think that the 'false belief' test is almost silly, because the answer is so obvious (have a view of the mind much similar to ours; things aren't always the way they seem).
Through this experience, I learned that is vitally important that children in school have a creative, stimulating classroom environment. Such an environment will stimulate their minds and make them much better learners and thinkers. The classroom environment should include lots of books, visual materials and different activities in order to help them learn the material as best as possible. All these requirement should be aimed at attracting and keeping the child’s interest and promoting questioning and discussion. Expecting children, particularly young ones, to sit at a desk all day and learn is not the way to go. Children, particularly young ones, need to move around and do different activities in order to keep them engaged. Having an environment where they are being taught in ways that are fun and reel them in, will stimulate the students to do well and strive to do better.
When students came in, they were calm and polite, a few even spoke to their visitors and seemed genuinely pleased that they had guests today. When the students came in, they knew exactly what they were supposed to do and did so quietly. The diversity in this classroom was nice to see and the students all interacted kindly to each other and with
Classrooms environments are very important at the time of learning. According to our textbook, the environment is viewed as an established behavioral place that forms how we act and behave (Vukelich & Christie, 2016). The environment in the classroom I visited was adequate for learning because it has all the things a preschool classroom has to have according to the textbook. The classroom has a bulleting board, a dramatic play center, a writing center, tables for manipulative and games, whole group meeting area, a computer area and an art area. There was also on a wall a picture of every single child with his and her names. My visit was from 10:30 to 12:30. When I first arrived, children were in a transition from one activity to another. The next activity was to watch an ABC phonics video. All the children knew what they have to do. They had to sit nicely and quiet on the floor. Every single child knew how to sit. They crossed their legs and put their hands in their laps. When the teacher saw that all the children were sitting properly, she assumed that they were ready to learn. During this activity I observed that Matthew and Jose were not engaged with this activity because they were looking to other children instead to look to the screen. For the next activity the children had to take a tablet from a cabinet. I was surprise because every single child knew the number of the tablet they have to take. Later I noticed that it was because in the classroom every child has a
On July 9 at approximately 1800 I observed an individual walking up the Priest Rapids Road towards the intake. As he was walking up he would stop and began yelling and screaming at something towards the dam. I hurried and grab my patrol radio along with my keys for the patrol car. I got on the radio and inform priest control that I was on site. They asked if I was aware of the gentleman walking across the damn. I informed them that yes I was and that I was heading up towards the intake deck to make contact. They informed me that it look like he was carrying something sharp in his hand. When I pulled up to him and got out of the vehicle I could see that his hands were up in his fist were clinched. As I got closer I noticed that he had a small
1. I would first take into thought the physical enviroment, I would want the class to be well lit and inviting. I would want their to be designed areas for play, or experiements, and even space for children who just need some quiet time. I would want the posters on the wall to either be of the kids art work or of their families and homelife. I would want to make the classroom as child based as possible. I would make sure all the toys are age appropriate, if they're infiant to toddlers I'd give them toys that are more based around developing their fine motor skills, older children I would give them more toys that they have to think while playing with to help them develop cognatively. I would want the craft area to be well stocked with

When I first entered the classroom the atmosphere was very inviting and comfortable unlike most classrooms I enter for my own classes. There was a large skylight in the center of the ceiling as well as several windows that let in natural light. There are also green plants in a couple corners of the room. Each student has their own cubbies to put
Kindergarten teachers are some of the most important teachers a child has because they are being taught life skills that they build on, the rest of their lives. 1. As teachers, we need to make sure that kindergarteners are excited to come back to school because school should be a fun and safe place for them to be. High-quality teachers gently guide conversation in the classroom, and are a great role model for their students. 2. It is important that the classrooms environment is welcoming to all students. In the classroom, there should be a dramatic play area, interest areas, a place for quiet time, and many different centers including art, math, writing, and reading. The teacher could even include pictures of their student’s families to
The classroom is organized so that the student’s stuff and the teacher’s stuff should not cross paths. The students keep their materials in their cubbies at one end of the room, their pencil boxes at their seats, and their book boxes on the floor. The teacher’s stuff is located on her desk, and the back table where small group stuff gets done. The classroom setting is definitely positive and interesting because it has a minion theme. Children in that age range love minions most of the time and
