This event is called "Impact weekend" as students work together to accomplish various tasks. As a leader of this event, I helped chaperone a group of roughly 15 6th grade boys during the years of 2013 and 2015, and I led the 11th grade boys this past February. During this event we serve the community as a group by helping locals who express a need. This year we had over 150 students gather to help harvest tomatoes for a small company. Each grade also competed in problem-solving competitions around the church to allow everyone to grasp the importance of community and working together. I led bible studies with my group each day, and acted as a mentor for any problems the students were
This year I got to participate in a youth outing with the youth at my church. Corp Cadets Academy, is a young people’s trip with The Salvation Army for the weekend. On October23-25,2015where the whole division of Florida gets together. It is a time where youth are able to be themselves, have fun, get away from home and worship the Lord and are able have a time alone with God surrounded by people who are trying to do the same thing. At the event, I got to see different types of talents on each day and see how the youth would praise dance in different songs and, put on plays and skits for us.
I've always attempted my best to help my community. One way I contributed to my community is through participation in the 11/11 Club at our high school. The club is in charge of planning the Veterans Day ceremonies at our school. One of the main reasons that I joined this club is that both of my parents are veterans and I felt it would be a way to return the favor, even if it was just a bit. In earlier years, parents and teachers planned and organized the Veterans Day activities. However, this year my high school is trying something different by having the students run it. The activities will begin with a presentation in the school auditorium with a video of students expressing their gratitude to all the veterans. Then, we are going to have

On Monday, September 28th, we visited the YMCA. We went into their conference room where we set up the computer and the projector. Finally when the teens arrived, we presented a short PowerPoint about community service and a few ideas for this event. We then broke off into two groups to get to know the kids a
The Boston Baptist Church youth group has been one that has thrived in the past years as it reached out to the community at large and attracted youth to it’s programs. In the past year, other churches in the community have decided to reschedule their youth group meeting times to the same time as the Boston youth group. As a result, the population of the youth group has dwindled to an average of five to six youth in attendance. It is interesting to note that the most consistent attendees are ones from the community instead of the church, which is because the church does not have an abundance of youth in the congregation. While this group is very small, every third month there is an opportunity for youth groups in the area to combine and come together for a program called Hive. This program allows for the youth to meet others in the area, have a great time and to support each other in Christ. There are also special events within the Boston youth group once every month where they will go ice skating, go on a hike or something else similar. The goal of this proposal is to; present a plan where we are able to focus on the spiritual growth of the youth and to focus on how we can reach out to the youth in the community.
MOUNT VERNON, Ky. — Christian Appalachian Project (CAP) has partnered with a group of youth from 10 different LDS congregations in the Lexington area for the first time to serve in Rockcastle County. The youth conference consists of kids ages 14-18 doing various projects around CAP such as commodity distribution at Grateful Bread Food Pantry, preparing disaster relief bags on Williams St., sorting/steaming clothing donation for Grateful Threadz, and constructing ramps/benches at the housing barn in Mount Vernon. Once a year there is a conference like this to strengthen the kid’s faith in Christ, allowing the kids to build important friendships, and serve the larger community.
During the past couple months of preparation, my team planned a youth revival, but when we got down to the school yard was, we found out that a whole city revival was planned. There were pastors and worship teams from around Haiti that came for the revival. We soon realized that we were definitely not the ones running the show, and that we were just there to dance with the people, and to sit with them! It was almost better this way, because we got to build relationships with people that originally wouldn’t have
The California Scholarship Federation at my high school actively participates in our school's peer to peer tutor and mentor program, as well as serve food to the homeless at our local Gospel Mission and assist in the community's effort to clean our local river, the Tuolumne River. Twice a year, we fundraise for the end of the year senior scholarships for worthy senior CSF members and over the summer we organize a picnic
We provide music with a DJ. There are fuse ball and corn hole. It is a fun and safe place for students to go. Specifically, I assisted in creating the decorations for the event. It takes a lot of people and a lot of decorations to transform a school to make it look like a specific thing.
Last year in high school, I was very active in my school's FFA and NHS chapter. In my chapters, I put together multiple service projects such as canned food drives, clean up after the town's annual rodeo, events to teach the public about agriculture, tutoring sessions, bake sales, and many other events throughtout the year.
After becoming a member of the National Society for Leadership and Success, I participated in countless hours of volunteer work for my community. One particular event that I always attend is the Raid for Kids. This event is a community Halloween event that provides children with a safer alternative to trick or treating. The event occurs on the University campus during day light hours and is supervised by volunteers and organizers. Later on I joined Habitat for Humanity in Albany, Georgia. Last year we participated in neighborhood clean-up projects. Recently Albany, Georgia had a destructive tornado that wrecked havoc on the city. So after the storm we came together to offer our help to people who were less fortunate than we were. This service
For my service hours, I volunteered at St. John’s Vacation Bible School. Vacation Bible School took place in the basement of St. John’s Catholic Church during the week of June 15 - 19th. It was actually four days long because on Tuesday night the basement flooded, so Wednesday class was cancelled. I volunteered alone, but made many friends that week. The reason I volunteered for Vacation Bible School is because Mrs. Bronder told me about it and I was interested in doing it. This was my second summer volunteering at Vacation Bible School; the summer before I volunteered at LCC’s Vacation Bible School. The theme this year was Hometown Nazareth. The groups were named after the twelve tribes of Israel and the activities were based on what Jesus
The annual event provides local artists, and community members an opportunity to work together and assist people enduring hunger
Another activity I participated in was Student Council. I was elected treasurer my junior and senior year. This meant that I was in charge of budgeting for dances. Considering I was in charge of the money, I often was the one decorating for dances as well. We also run the food can drive and Little Kids Christmas. Little Kids Christmas is about giving gifts to children who are less fortunate in the Norwalk community. This includes anything from low income to a parent in the military overseas. We also fundraise for the Norwalk leadership scholarship through activities like the Lakewood Lock In, where Lakewood students pay a small fee for a night of fun activities.
I have to say that Kidtoberfest was one of my favorite volunteer opportunity. I did this two years in a row and absolutely loved it. Seeing the kids from the elementary school that I had observed in was
