Pleasant Oaks nursing facility is pleased to announce to the Hawthorne community, the expansion of a free standing assisted living facility. Although Pleasant Oaks was launched thirty years ago, the facility has experienced greater-than-anticipated demand for its services, and evidence has proven that the target market of elderly care would likely increase in disproportion of the size of our current facility. An extension of our current facility is just one of our long standing commitments at meeting the growing needs of our communities. Our new facility is a free-standing, independent, self-contained with thirty, one bedrooms and two bedrooms’ apartments. This group of people are frail and unable to meet up with their daily activities. This group of elderly people have the money, and are willing to spend a little extra to get a higher level of care.
While the National center for assisted living facilities in 2010, indicated that 735,000 elders nationwide, live in assisted living settings, our targeted group, prefers a less institutionalized, homelike, and a structured friendly and interactive environment. Relatives are great for nights out or weekends, but they do not compare to a structured program when it comes to the quality of care activities that are offered at the facility.
As America continues to be a society of working class people, others retiring and needing help, there will always be the need for elderly care. The trend of the aging drives the facility’s business. Positioning

Assisted living is a fairly new and unique part of the long term care continuum of services. The goal of assisted living is to maximize the independence of older adults while living in a homelike environment. This paper will provide an overview of assisted living facilities including the number of facilities and residents, costs, services, and growth expectations. Challenges with oversight and regulations will be discussed as well as solutions to the problem. Challenges and solutions for staffing and training issues will also be discussed. The paper will also highlight “In Loving Hands Assisted Living” which is a local assisted living facility that I called and visited to aid in my research. I will give an overview of the
Assisted living helps each person value life to its fullest potential. When it comes to making an older individual feel more at home and also be able to focus more on non-stressful activities, they need to be ensured the best care. “Families feel more confident and are less ‘protective’ when there is continuity in staff and they are deemed competent. Staff are more likely to be retained where they feel valued”2 part of the quote which is especially conducive to the argument is, “where they feel valued.” When picking and choosing a nursing home that fits individual the best, and will provide them with the care needed, it is important to make sure that everyone is valued in the process. This quote is important because if the workers are not being taken care of, then they are less enthusiastic and also less likely to give someone’s loved one the care needed and to know what is expected from them. It is assumed that when picking an assisted living home, that the well being of the person and also many other characteristics are taken into
Team B chose to cover Emeritus at Harbour of Pointe Shores, a senior community located in Ocean Shores, Washington. The team was interested in learning more about an assisted living and rehabilitation facility. Emeritus at Harbour of Pointe Shores provides retirement and assisted living, respite services, and on-site rehabilitation. Similar to other long-term care facilities, the facility and staff are required to follow specific guidelines and regulations to maintain licensing and accreditation. However, these
This facility promotes the traditional residential qualities of privacy, choice, control, and personalization of one 's immediate surroundings. Our goals to engage residents in activities and schedules designed for diminishing mental skills are comforting. The long-term care services delivery system in the United States has changed substantially over the last 30 years . There are approximately 17,000 elderly and disabled persons are receiving care in nursing homes (NNHS, 2004). The number of people using nursing facilities, alternative residential care places, or home care services are projected to increase from 15 million in 2000 to 27 million in 2050 (HHS, 2003). Identifying the best nursing home that would fit their needs can be difficult and time-consuming. Although nursing homes usually provide certain basic care that patients need, some nursing home facilities provides special care for certain types of individuals with special needs. For example, people with dementia, AIDS, ventilator-dependents,

I think the strategic mission should be revised. The Medical Center is in an older urban area with smaller shops and businesses. The community is trending towards a predominantly elder population. There has also been a decline in compliance with T.J.C. standards. Staffing supports new program development and the physician staff is in abundant supply. There are also major issues that need to be addressed, such as shortages in clinical staff, non-interfacing information technology systems, antiquated facilities and infrastructure, and a shift to its financial mix. Careful assessment of the aging person's

Assisted Living Homes are designed to provide residents with basic everyday assistance. An important aspect is that assisted care facilities provide a safe and comfortable environment for older adults who need assistance with duties such as bathing, dressing, shopping, cooking, grooming, arranging doctor’s appointments, medication administration and laundry services.
