Debate or Debacle? by Fatima Navarro, Freshmen staff writer
The debate this august 6, 2015 was held in Cleveland Ohio, the first debate for the presidential campaign. Many of the comments made were ridiculously childish. The following topics were discussed at the debate taxes, immigration, education, Obama's decisions, war, Isis, woman rights, and gay marriage. Not many answers were proposed rather there were lots of snarky comments. Donald Trump has such a massive ego while he picked on his opponents; then later claimed that he will get the Latino vote. Rubio wants the economy to support free market economics and has proposed tax cuts. These tax cuts are for small businesses with great ideas. Rubio proposed to reform the US immigration system

He does not agree with the Obama Care plan for he thinks it affects middle class families in not a good way. Ben Carson is the director of Pediatric Neurosurgery and is the first doctor to separate twins that were conjoined. He is very much known for his views on social and political issues. Mike Huckabee has once tried to run as president but failed so this is his second time running. In the debate he was asked about his view on gay marriage and of course being an ordained minister brought up god and in general he didn’t have anything against them just that they respect the church. In fact he added that we recently attended a gay marriage of a friend of his. Scott Walker went to Marquette University but did not graduate. Even though he was seen by many as a potential candidate and then chosen to run for president, I think homosexuals would despise him for he is trying to ban gay marriage. Jeb Bush is following his father’s footsteps, after being elected governor twice in Florida he decided to run for president. He wants to reduce global warming by cutting carbon emissions and has stressed the role of private industry in addressing the problem. Bush believes that the plan No Child Left
“The 2nd truism that we must understand is that our poverty does not create our social problems, our social problems create our poverty,” stated Republican party candidate, Marco Rubio. He was the senator of Florida. Rubio is 44 years old. He has been interested in politics and volunteer work since he was a juvenile. U.S. citizens should vote for Marco Rubio because he is against gay marriage, he is against abortion, and is for legal immigration.
Marco Rubio is the Republican counterpart to 2008 Barack Obama, just without the elegance or needed ideology. He is a handsome minority, who is well spoken, and has a beautiful, young family. He appears to be an adequate choice for the nomination, as he has centrist enough views to interest some independents, while also having some of the requisite crazy to entice the party’s base. Rubio is also from Florida, which could help in turning an essential swing state red. A shortcoming for Marco Rubio is that he has recently decided that he is a Senator in name only, forgoing actually attending Senate votes and hearings, except on payday. Rubio, needing plenty of oil to style his hair, has one of the worst environmental records in the Senate, which
The first reason why Marco Rubio is a great candidate for president, is his stand on immigration. He wants people to come to the United States to have a better life, but he wants them to do it legally and fair. “We have a legal immigration system that 's outdated and needs to be modernized so we can win the global competition for talent. We have millions of people living in this
Do not be afraid to offer ideas that draw opposition. Remember, if no one is against your idea, then your idea probably doesn't do anything. –Marco Rubio Being one of Florida’s state senators and current 2016 presidential candidate I thought he would be a great senator to start talking about. Marco Antonio Rubio was born to immigrant parents in Miami Florida in 1971. Rubio attended college at the University of Florida, and university of Miami to study Law. In the 1990s, he served as a City Commissioner for West Miami and was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2000. He was elected Speaker of the Florida House in September 2005,and continued at that position for 3 more years. Rubio was elected to the United States Senate in 2010.
There are many candidates for the 2016 Presidential election. Two candidates are Ben Carson and Mike Huckabee. They are both republican and both share about the same views on things such as education, healthcare, and the Second Amendment.
The republican candidates for presidency, businessman Donald Trump, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, Florida Senator Marco Rubio, Texas Senator Ted Cruz, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, Ohio Governor John Kasich and former HP CEO Carly Fiorina all met in Milwaukee, Wisconsin for a debate hosted by the Fox Business channel. Debate topics range from immigration to Syria. Bush went after Trump, saying that to win, the GOP needs "practical" policies.
During the second Presidential Debate, which was televised on October 9, 2016, I was able to detect many logical fallacies within the arguments of both candidates. For example, when Donald Trump was first asked about the controversial tape that contained footage of him disrespecting and admitting to sexually assaulting women, he avoided this question by attempting to divert attention from this issue. Instead of concretely answering the question, Donald Trump briefly apologized, and then blatantly attempted to ignore the issue by talking about Isis “chopping people’s heads,” and randomly describing all the horrid things that Isis is doing. This logical fallacy is characterized as “Red Herring,” which
Specific Purpose: To inform my audience about the Senator of the State of Florida Marco Rubio, his family, his education, his career, and how do people perceived him.
On September 26, 2016, the first of four debates was hosted by Hofstra University in New York. The debate was between Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton and Republican candidate Donald Trump. This was a much anticipated debate because it was not only the first of four, but it was the first time for divided America to pick a side and candidate that they could identify with after the primaries were over and we were left with these two options. These two candidates were asked questions by moderator Lester Holt, anchor of NBC Nightly News.
Conflict is inevitable in any personal relationship or among members of any group. While we encounter many types of conflict in our lifetime, we often look for ways to avoid conflict. So, why do we run away from dealing with our conflict? It is often because many of us fear the conflict will escalate into a situation we will not be able to sustain. “As conflicts escalate, they go through certain incremental transformations. Although these transformations occur separately on each side, they affect the conflict as a whole because they are usually mirrored by the other side. As a result of these transformations, the conflict is intensified in ways that are sometimes exceedingly difficult to undo” (Pruitt, and Kim 89). We
In the wake of the death of Antonin Scalia, the Supreme Court Justice , Republican candidates had a debate and met in South Carolina for the 9th GOP debate. This debate mainly discussed what each candidate would do if they were to become president. During these debates, the candidates are given a chance to deliver their messages , and to help voters determine which candidate will be best as president. In the republican debate, each candidate was asked a question which they was expected to answer but somehow didn't appear to do so. While watching, I came to conclusion that some of the arguments were successful and others unsuccessful. In the first section of the debate when candidates Ben Carson, Donald

Al Gore and Governor George W. Bush are running for the Presidency. The two candidates are in Presidential Debate to allow the voters to get an understanding of where they each stand on certain positions and policies. Bush and Gore have some similarities and differences on certain positions and policies discussed in the Presidential Debates.
What topics are labeled important enough to be talked about during presidential debates? Topics such as terrorism and national security; the economy; jobs and employment; and the Affordable Care Act and Healthcare all managed to be the center of attention during all debates. What topics were almost entirely ignored? Topics such as gun policy; social issues like LGBT rights and abortion; and the environment and climate change were put to the side to instead talk about Hillary Clinton’s email scandal or the sexual assault charges brought up against Donald Trump. While terrorism and national security; the economy; jobs and employment; and the Affordable Care Act and Healthcare are all very important topics, but one topic that was ignored and should have been at the forefront of the debate was climate change.
Another four years another presidential debate. Before I go on to the current debates let me state a few facts about past ones. The Lincoln and Douglas debate was in important because it started Lincoln presidential career. The Debates lasted from August 21 -- October 15. There where seven of them, with two days to two weeks in between. Each debate lasted three hours; first candidate spoke for one hour; the second for one and a half hours; the first replying for a half hour. Candidates alternated going first. The topics involved where primarily slavery and the Union. Other important debates were the '48 and '57. They were the only debates before 1960; there were no presidential debates between 1960 and 1976. In
