Every person has their own definition of what a leader should be. Whether a leader should possess certain traits or lead in a specific style, most people have a different perspective. Nonetheless, all leaders have a story to tell on his/her journey to obtaining their leadership role. This paper will focus on Program Director of Injury Prevention Services Julisa Alviso-Silva, and the challenges and success she has experience as a leader of this organization.
History
In 1994, Riverside University Health System Department of Public Health established Injury Prevention Services. The branch was established to address childhood injuries, and fatalities in Riverside County. The programs included in the branch are car seat safety, pedestrian/bicycle safety, suicide prevention for teens, and teen impaired driving prevention. In addition, new programs have remerged into the branch, such as home safety and water and pool safety. Program Director Julisa Alviso-Silva has been directing the branch for the past 10 years and is in charge of 20 staff members. But before becoming a leader of a successful branch, Julisa had different aspirations in life.
Background
Julisa received her Bachelor’s degree in Business with a concentration in Marketing and Management from California State University San Bernardino.
