Questions on Project Management: Personal Experience

For my business, I decided to open up an up-scale designer clothing store. In the city I live, we have a good amount of clothing stores but almost all are found at the local malls. I plan to find a large unit that’s surrounded by many businesses along with steady traffic flow.

1) Performance: One has to ask themselves during a project if you have met the objectives of the project. Performance can be measured by evaluating the processes such as scope verification, quality planning, quality assurance, and quality control. The initial performance goals should be outlined in the initial Scope of Work.

The main issue that I had to deal with during the project is the near absence of the action plan. The plan should consists of a number of action/steps that need to be performed in order to reach the research project’s objectives. Due to the absence of an action plan, we wasted time/efforts by either doing nothing or doing things that are irrelevant. Besides, the research project workload was not divided between us in a fair manner. This is mainly due to the absence of both a solid project schedule and a project manager/leader. The role of a project manager should be supporting team members and assigning tasks to them. As a result I wasn’t able to contribute to the project's progress as it was expected from me.

A project is managed by a project manager. It has to be managed so there will not be any mistake during the production. A project manager has to be an organized, and enthusiastic person who can lead the project to success. A good project managers make the goal by their own and they use their skills and share their purpose to the project team.
