Reflection In class the question was posed to us, “What is the last thing you learned because you wanted to?” We were led into thinking about the amount of time invested, the resource’s used and if what we put our effort into learning, was hard. I was thinking about learning to ride my bike, it was something I was motivated to do, I remember waking up on Christmas morning and seeing for the first time my white two- wheeled bicycle with training wheels, I immediately hopped on it right there in front of the Christmas tree. Well it was taller than my little three wheeler, the seat far from the ground, and excitingly different. I’m thinking now about the opportunity given to me for that inner urge to ride, my Mother had provided the bike to me as a gift. I was subjected to the experience from an outside source. The intrinsic motivation I found within myself to try something exciting, and new, the feeling of growing up and using a big kid bike. I honestly can remember the drastic difference that tall very new and different transporter was from my three wheeled bike. It felt a small amount of fear because of the bikes height, and I had to learn the new ways to control it, yet the opportunity presented itself and that sparked my interest and drive. When it comes to motivation in the classroom and directing young children, opportunity and classroom structure are important. Yes children have an innate desire to learn, knowing how to take what is of interest to them and
I learned that anything is possible long as you put mind to it. I also learned that I
People’s experiences shape their lives and influence the choices they make, their expectations, and formulate their behavior and mindset. I have always loved to learn! As a child, I was constantly at the library and playing school. I recall being in 5th grade when my teacher handed me the science manual and a box of equipment, and asked me to ‘figure it out’ and recreate it for the class. I couldn’t have been more thrilled!
The first time I ever rode a dirt bike was when I was the age ten and then I never rode another one until I was fifteen years old. This is relevant because to learn how to ride a dirtbike takes time and help from others. My father had been riding dirt bikes and quads since he was a child, so when I needed help I looked up to him. I was clueless on how to operate a dirt bike until I asked my dad for help. Now I can ride a motorized bike with no problem!
Ever since I was young, and began my education, learning was one of the most exciting ideas to me. I wanted to know more about everything around me and the world that we lived in. Even the things that other people found mundane or pointless, I loved to understand; simply for the sake of knowing more. Throughout my elementary and middle school years, I was homeschooled which gave me more opportunities to go out and experience things that most kids could not. When I started high school, though, learning became something completely new for me. In my tenth grade year, I began dual enrolling at the local state college where I was immersed in the
One time I was very excited about learning was a project that I did in math class called After Collage. In this project I were given a scenario where I just finished college, and I had to find a job a house, etc. After, we made a budget on all of the expenses that we thought we would pay. Things such as electricity bills, food, laundry etc. Though this project was fiction it made me realize what the real world was like, and I could not just spend all of my money on things that I liked.
One of the most essential aspects of the educational process is to know how to motivate students for learning. A challenging part of being a teacher is to know and learn how to motivate students. First of all, a good definition for motivation is as Byrnes quote “Motivation is construct
The concepts of motivation allowed me to understand each of my students on an individual level as well. Not all students are motivated the same way and learning new ways to motivate first graders that are not, “if you do this, you will get a prize” changed my classroom environment. I used strategies like goal-setting to get my students motivated to do well on their assignments. When they saw the growth they were making it was pushing them to do better. They didn’t need to get something in order to do well. The satisfaction in seeing their growth gave them motivation. I am hoping that by starting them out with this strategy young, stays with them as they move on to the upper grade levels.
Learning something in our life take time and effort, and that’s hard for some of us, but that makes me happy and proud of myself when I get any new information;
Learning how to drive a manual car definitely made me imagine about what more I can do. It changed the way I envision myself, raised my standards and what all else I can accomplish. It made me feel like you can learn any new skill, you must be motivated and determined and to foresee the final result. I learned what might have been easily acquired for some, might not be so easy for you. It’s easy for you to get discouraged because it’s taking you longer to learn than it did for others. If you wish to learn a new skill, you must focus on yourself. That only postpones the final result and doesn’t help the progress. Once I learned how to drive a manual car, it makes me feel proud that I learned and that feeling comes to me every time I sit in the driver’s
Since I was a young girl, learning was something necessary to do in order to mature into my own self. It's something us as humans do to evolve from our younger selves. From learning to talk, walk ,and read we learn many things throughout our lifetime to be the person we are today. Learning is the key to life. Learning makes us progress. Riding a bicycle was a learning experience that I might never forget it.
Young children are compelled to learn because of their natural curiosity in life. Older children seem to need a push in the direction to learn. This describes the two types of motivation. Intrinsic motivation describes the young child. It is motivation from within and the desire someone feels to complete a task, including natural curiosity. Intrinsic motivation is anything we do to motivate ourselves without rewards from an outside source. “In relation to learning, one is compelled to learn by a motive to understand, originating from their own curiosity” (Rehmke-Ribary, 2003 p.intrinsic).
Naturally, my eagerness to learn came about at a very young age. I always wanted to know how the human body worked. Growing up in the age of YouTube, I often poured over countless hours of videos learning simple concepts that I could easily understand at that time. As I grew I was always looking to learn something new. Finally, in high school I took advantage of College Now, a program where students in high school had access to college classes on a college campus while receiving college credits. While I was there, I earned a Certificate in Computer Science from CUNY Queens College. This eagerness to learn came about of a very simple reason. My parents had high aspirations for me since no one on either side of their families had ever gone beyond a high school education. They wanted me to be the first in the family to achieve a Bachelor’s degree. Finally in 2012, I graduated from St. Johns University with a
For me, learning always came to me through curiosity and a strong quest to know and understand any subject area that I developed interest in. I used to bother my parents with questions about why certain things were so and I always enjoyed fixing little broken toys, building models such as rockets out of recyclable materials as a child. Progressing through high school, I joined the school’s robotics club which introduced me to
For my physical action I went to an indoor cycling class. I am gazing down at a sweat-drenched towel, while my legs are turning at the rate of a Nascar's tires in a dull live with an enthusiastic lady who resembles a youthful Ellen DeGeneres instructing me to "confront your feelings of trepidation. Turn that resistance handle to one side." Did I meander into some weird faction workshop, you inquire? Well sort of, I went to SoulCycle surprisingly this week. I had dependably been occupied with going to SoulCycle - the young ladies with the trademark yellow wheel on their jeans simply completed with a class looked so fit and fortified that I figured there must be something to the religion like after the brand had amassed. This week, I chose to wind up plainly one of them when I agreed to accept my "First Ride" $20 class via telephone. In the event that it is your first time continually going to SoulCycle ensure you get the $20 class - the typical cost is $34 which parallels one informal breakfast in this way, I think its really evident which choice I would pick if compelled to fork up $34 for something. Join is really simple: you simply pick an educator and a day. Be cautioned, however: there are evidently some horrendous educators out there, so make certain to get a proposal from a companion on the best ones in the studio close you so you didn't simply squander your cash on a dormant military instructor. When you enroll, you simply need to hold up until the day at last
The biggest learning experience to me so far is life itself. I feel that way because there is so much to learn in life. It takes growing up for me to learn in life. I am now beginning to understand the value of learning because a year ago I did not appreciate learning. I did not value it like I value it now. I took it for granted as if learning could just be given to me. I realize now that it has to be earned. My attitude in high school was bad because I really did not feel I was learning, so I took it for granted. In high school I felt as if the teachers were jokes and I also felt they did not care about educating me properly. I am now starting to learn the value of an education. I now look forward to learning new things everyday. I feel that I am beginning to have a passion for learning. I never thought that I would feel this way about learning because I never did appreciate it like I do now. I now actually yearn to learn; I feel that I need to learn new things. Every assignment I have done in college is teaching me something new. I think I feel this way because I am maturing and I now view learning differently than I did
