As humans we know that communication is an extremely important part of our everyday lives. It is vital to us, it’s how we put off our thoughts, feelings, emotions, and state of mind to other people. Communication sounds simple because it is. One person exchanges a thought while the other listens, and vice versa. However communication can be simple it’s just depends on the person perceiving it. There are endless reasons and purposes for communication, additionally there are many ways to communicate, ways we may have forgotten about.
When it comes to verbal communication what comes to my mind is the exchange of words, I understand that verbal is either spoken or written form of communication, in order to share thoughts and feelings or ideas. However verbal communication can be very tricky, especially if you are communicating with someone from a different region or country, taking the extra effort in really listening to what they are trying to say is work in itself. See when I visit my family in Texas, some of their friends and neighbors are often confused by my choice of words and phrases because I am from northern M.D and I already talk fast with my own accent, being as so many that I have come accross feels the need to tell me this so I either slow down or try my best to speak clear. With that being said I have also lived in texas for many months since june of 2014. I wore jackets no matter the weather temperature in T.X, I didn’t cook they way they prepped and cooked.

In this essay, I intend to reflect on a situation I encountered during my first community placement I had the opportunity to develop my communication skills not just theoretically but also practically, facing a real life environment. My placement made me aware of the importance of interpersonal and communication skills which are very important in the delivery of care. Throughout my nursing career, I will be encouraged to develop reflective practice skills and become a reflective practitioner. Reflection refers to a series of steps that you may take to question and explore an experience with the aim of learning from it. I will discuss the importance of communication in order to maintain a therapeutic relationship.

(Adler, p.384) Communication depends on relationships between the people who are communicating, and on common basics between them. Problems in communications between people may arise due to differences in cultures, perceptions, values, and expectations from life.
Everyone has a certain skill that they may be strong or weak at in both school or in work. There are skills required in order to create an efficient working environment. However, every person generally has a flaw or a skill that they are efficient in, which may reflect their career readiness. Despite everyone's flaw, throughout our life, we can be able to improve through experience. As for myself, I consider myself confident in managing multiple task and valuing work, but I need to improve my communication skills.
In interpersonal communication there are many theories that are similar yet different in many ways. The theories can be combined to describe people and how those people interact and communicate with each other. Many of these theories help explain how people in society form impressions of others, how they maintain these impressions, why people interact with certain people in society, and how people will use these impressions that they have formed later on in life. Having lived in Massachusetts, Colorado, and lastly, Oklahoma, I have gained many friends across the country. I have unfortunately lost some of my friends’ contact information. Regardless, for the purposes of this project I chose to talk to two of my friends in Massachusetts.
