All of the formal writing I have done recently and in the past has been for school. In my junior and senior year of high school my two year course focused a lot on reading and analyzing novels and plays as well as written commentaries. I have a very solid base in analyzing text and as well as writing for a purpose, whether it is formal or more personal in nature. Other types of writing include things others have mentioned including texting, emailing, etc. I do not particularly enjoy fiction writing, and same goes with reading, I would much rather read something nonfiction.
The most enjoyable writing I have ever done is often times in a science or art class where I get to talk about what I am passionate about. Therefore, I am definitely more
For the most part, I like to write. I surprise myself sometimes when I read what I have written. Essays don’t seem to be that hard for me and most of the time comes naturally to write. Ever since I was younger, reading and writing were always my strong points in school. Math and science didn’t stand
When writing an article or assignment, my biggest issues with my writing style are losing focus, using active and passive voices in the wrong tense, and providing too much research. Keeping information short, precise, and on topic is important for a writer. Having three main ideas to focus on helps both the reader and writer understand the information being provided. The main ideas of an essay should be evident in the introductory paragraph. Along with staying focused when writing, I struggle with mixing active and passive voice. This mistake confuses a reader and causes a paper to receive bad marks. I plan to study more on verb tense and the correct usage and include this in my revision of the assignments and discussion boards that I do. The
The rubric for blogs/journals has four critical elements. The first is critical thinking and reflections. This refers to being able to support your claim with either personal experience, learning, or logical thought. The second critical element is Integration and Application which means that you are able to show you understand the module content and gave careful consideration while answering the topic. Voice is the next critical element and it means that you are able to express yourself and reach your audience in an appropriate writing style. Writing is the last critical element and it means that your paper is free of grammar and spelling errors.
To explain my type of writing it is defiantly free writing style, like myself spontaneous. As I start off writing and get my groove going words just creatively flow. I may have to start over a few times, or rework the beginning but then it becomes more of a natural flow. I prefer to write about things I have experienced, fun things I enjoy, and do so with a comic approach. I do not like to take life too serious and am a spontaneous, adventurous, and fun-loving person. I have a huge personality that usually does come out in my writing, as most of you that have been on this journey from day one with me know.
Ever since the fourth grade, where we had to practice writing for our FCAT Writes, I had become absolutely entranced by the concept of writing your ideas, thoughts, and creativity on a blank piece of paper. With nothing but a prompt or your own mind encouraging the flow of words that would cascade from my mind to my hand. My friends and family would often say that I smiled the most whenever I was scrawling on a sheet of paper. However, even though I enjoyed writing I was always searching for tips to improve considering that I was never satisfied with anything that looked subpar. In my mind, the characteristics of good writing was always having a paper that would catch the reader’s attention, the words would just flow into one another without sounding choppy
Over the course of my studies at university, I have grown and learned more about academic writing and numerous writing styles. I believe there is so much room for me to master my writing skills to succeed and complete my degree and improve my academic writing and personal skills through more practice. However, I have become concerned with my first attempt submitting my piece of paper through the online test in the Writers’ Diet diagnostic tool and was labelled ‘flabby’ in my writing. Analysing my errors and referring to the textbook ’Communication Toolkit’ by Grellier and Goerke (2014), also submitting my piece of writing to Grammarly and paper rater I was able to measure my weakness in the area of sentence structure, punctuation and grammar.
There are many writing styles that many people pick up as they go through there many years of schooling. Each person picks up the same type of writing styles but as years go by people seem to pick up there own little types of writing style that separates them from everyone else. As I have gone through many years of English classes I have acquired more and more skills and many more are sure to come as I continue my education. My writing skills have only gotten better from the time of ninth grade English class until today. Since my days back in junior high school I was only taught the basic skills to write papers and since then they have grown to make me a decent writer. I have many strengths and also
Before I started this assignment, I knew little to nothing about the subject. I don’t recall ever having done a project quite like this one, so I’m not sure how it’ll turn out. It likely won’t be very good, but oh well. I did encounter a few problems while working, such as my inability to properly analyze his writing style (or at least not phrase it properly), or to find his challenges or triumphs, legacy/ies, et cetera… I don’t think there’s anything at this moment that I can do about it. If I’m going to be honest here, I’m not proud of it. Now that I’m about out of time, I see everything I could have done better on it. Every last detail. The only two things I’m pleased with are the second page and the questions, and I’m not certain I should even be pleased with the questions.
I communicate more effectively by writing than I do communicating verbally. I believe that I write to the best of my ability with the knowledge I have but know that I could definitely learn a lot in this class that will help me write better. I do not write a lot for pleasure or for work although when I was a kid I spent a lot of time writing poems. I really enjoyed it and dedicated a lot of time to writing. As I have gotten older, all my spare time I used to have seems to be consumed by all the adult responsibilities of being a parent, a grandparent, and a Soldier.
In this course I learned how to be a brave when I assessed my fellow, to cite sources, and how to analyze an abstract. The important thing I learned it was how I search in the UOPeople library to get strong sources. I would change my grammar mistakes, especially comma mistakes and my style in writing because I recently discovered that it's a little confusing. I really liked that I learned to write a five paragraph essay with supporting citation because it's important for academic study, and I didn't know anything about that. I will apply this in my life when I will study in the university to write a clear thesis and 5 paragraph essay when it is needed. Also, I will do my best to keep away from any grammar mistakes. I will apply this for my
I do not enjoy writing as the writing expectations from today’s society has completely changed. People expect everything to be written in a certain way. There is no “other” way in writing. There is not self-expression or self-identity anymore as writing has been transformed from something where people could express themselves physically and emotionally, to something where everything is systematic.
When i was younger i used to enjoy writing, for me writing was an escape. I would use writing to let go of feelings that i couldn't share with people. So my creative writing style would have to be dramatic, like all the obstacles i have overcame and how i got through them. Although i also enjoyed writing fictional stories because you're able to let your imagination run amok. As i said before about escaping reality, i use it in the same way to write fiction stories. I get to be creative writing and there really is not an boundaries to using your imagination. So many amazing books and movies are fiction, so if i was out shopping for a writing style i would choose primarily
I think I worked hard on this essay. I tried to make in better for each draft. I had enjoyed telling my story, because I nobody know it before. It was helpful to write it and get in go. My biggest problem was to give more details. It was hard to remember the story, but I tried to give as much details as I could. I am proud for my details, they are in right order and there are many of them. I hadn’t known that I need to give all the details that happened to me.
Writing is a fun process that can be done by almost anyone because you can develop your own style or type of writing. There is not a set structure that you have to follow while writing, making every piece as unique as a butterfly. These past few weeks of writing have made me notice a few different writing techniques and methods that almost trademark the style of my writing. One thing that struck me as odd about my own writing was that I start with the climax of the a story. Another distinction I found was that I tend to change the story and cut phrases out more than i write. The third thing I discovered was that writing a fictional story is smoother for me.
Writing is something magical and a good way of expressing myself. To be honest, I never thought that writing, and English as a subject would be this enjoyable. At the beginning of the semester, I was scared and nervous because of my grammar. I actually thought that I would be one of the worst students when I was placed in the class because I had very low confidence. This was mainly because of the fact that English is my second language. To my surprise, the grade “B” that I scored on my first essay made me proud of myself, and it helped rise my confidence. The fear and worry I had at the beginning is now washed away because currently, writing has become my favorite form of art. My confidence has risen, and I owe it to my English 101 class. That aside, I am going to recognize the improvements I have made in my writing, and how far I have come as a writer during this semester.
