3. Methodology
According to (Kothari, 2004, p. 8)“Research Methodology is a way to systematically solve the research problem”. In another definition of the Research Methodology, based on (Research Methodology, 2016)“The process used to collect information and data for the purpose of making business decisions. The methodology may include published research, interviews, surveys and other research techniques, and could include both present and historical information”.
It can be concluded that the research methodology is one of the ways that can be used to solve a problem that is by collecting information and data such as interviews, surveys or other useful ways to make a right decision.
The purpose of this research is to determine the needs and requirements of dog owners related to dog daycare and dog salon before the business opened in Jakarta.
In this research, the authors will conduct primary research and secondary research, which will be collected data from two main sources, namely primary data and secondary data. Primary data will use two tools, namely a survey through questionnaires and observation, while the secondary data will be from books, articles, newspapers, magazines, the Internet and other sources related to the research.
The author also uses two types of research to collect primary data, namely quantitative research and qualitative research. Explanation and application of these two methods will be discussed further.
“Qualitative research is an approach
Research methods are “the various specific tools or ways data can be collected and analysed, e.g. a questionnaire, interview, etc.” (Neville, C, 2007).
There is a particular way in which all research works are carried out. It starts with an issue. It is usually in the form of having little knowledge about the particular subject, knowledge gap or it is some kind of a puzzle. The next step once the identification of the problem is made, is to go through all existing relevant studies in an organized manner to identify potential visions or gaps. The third step is to narrow down the problem to make the hypothesis. When the research is at its end, it should either approve or dismiss the hypothesis. After the third step, the researchers must design the type of research they want to do. Then they must choose a method to successfully conduct the research.
The research process is a systematic approach that is carried out with a particular aim or purpose. However, in order to come up to a conclusion based on the objective of the research, the researchers collect a multitude of information that can be analyzed. This is a normal course of action that is applied to all research and evaluation projects, despite of the fact that research method involves a scientific method of inquiry or an evaluation based research or action research.
In conclusion, in this essay were described most popular research method types, which can be used almost by every chosen topic to investigate. Before choosing a topic it is important to consider what kind of data researcher wants to collect- quantitative or qualitative, because method aims differ. Surveys and questionnaires are used to collect quantitative and objective data, whereas interviews, experiments and observations are used to gather qualitative and subjective data.
The contents of this chapter contains the research methodology of the project. As such, within this chapter the outline of the research strategy, the research method, the research approach, the data collection methods, sample selection, the form of data analysis, any ethical considerations and the research limitations are discussed.
Both qualitative and quantitative data analysis approaches will be used in this research. Quantitative data analysis will be used to analyze the numerical data whereas qualitative data analysis will be used to analyze trends and relationships between the data and views of the participants obtained from the interviews and the questionnaires.
Overview: This section explains the research philosophy, the literature survey for this research, data collection technique, data analysis approach and the overall process of the research. It started by gather the general insights that were relevant to the research; derived the information into a research topic; brief explanation about how the research was conducted, how the data was collected through experiment, how the data was analysed and concluded.
There are two methods for data collection which are primary method and secondary method. The primary method include person who collect data through survey, interview, observation, and questionnaire. The advantage of doing the primary research method is that the person has a full control in doing research for specific information that he needs instead of doing a general research, and the disadvantage of the primary research is taking a long time to collect information and it may cost more; also the information may not be always achievable (Primary Research - Disadvantages, 2016). Moreover, the secondary research method includes person who collect data and information from someone else work such as journals, websites, books, and records. The advantage of doing the secondary research
In an effort to obtain the data for our research it is important to sample from group that will best represent our population. There are four basic questions that need to be answered in sample design. The first is the subject of our research, or target population. The next question is the parameters of our interest, which is high turn-over rate. The third question is the sampling frame. Because the subjects of our study are acute nurses, we should use the membership directory from the American Nurses
It has been stated by Van Manen (1990) that the methodology is the framework of any research, It is suggested that the methodology is the theory behind the method and the methodology aids the researcher in deciding upon a research method.
* The methodology chapter contains the discussion about the methodology adapted during the research process. The adapted methodology adapted on the rationale ground. First the research topic was carefully and analytically chosen. The selection of topic was the rationale decision due to two basic reasons. First reason was that the information available on the topic is excessive and vast quantity. The secondary information is readily
“Primary data are gathered specifically for the research project at hand. Secondary data is data that have been previously gathered for some other purpose.” (Burns & Bush, 2006). This paper will explore the differences in primary and secondary research when using qualitative and quantitative approaches. The paper will further discuss the tools that are used for each approach.
Research methodology is a way how the research is conducted step by step and in order. There are two methods used for data collection which is the primary data and secondary data. These data can be obtained and used many ways. The data is taken and analyzed in advance to produce a result that we can use for research and future reference. This study will relate to the objective we want to achieve and finding the answer to every objective we seek. In order to successfully achieve the objectives we seek, we must know
Methodology is a way to systematically solve the research problems. It explains the various steps that are generally adopted by a researcher in studying the research problem with logic behind them.
This chapter presents the background to the study, the study problem, the purpose of the study, specific objectives, research questions, research hypothesis, significance of the study, scope of the study, delimitations, limitations, assumptions, theoretical framework and finally conceptual framework developed from the reviewed literature.
