Assignment in Research Methods
1) Overview of various research methods
When writing a Research Paper it is important to know different research methods. These methods help to gather and systemize the information and data in order to scientifically prove the validity of the work. Further will be explained ways how to collect the data.
Research methods are divided in two big blocks: quantitative and qualitative. Quantitative methods are those where results are explained in numbers, whereas qualitative methods define outcomes by what respondents answer. It is more subjective and more open, as results are not described by numbers, but rather as observations. To put both methods differences together: quantitative look more for

Fifth type of research method is observation. It can be an observation of a person or of some activity or some model. This method can include when over seeing what people do, what is their behaviour, their relationship with others. Observation can also be on some cases or models, or even comparing two or more activities and making conclusions. This is more called analysis and is very detailed in its structure; therefore it is one of the qualitative methods.
In conclusion, in this essay were described most popular research method types, which can be used almost by every chosen topic to investigate. Before choosing a topic it is important to consider what kind of data researcher wants to collect- quantitative or qualitative, because method aims differ. Surveys and questionnaires are used to collect quantitative and objective data, whereas interviews, experiments and observations are used to gather qualitative and subjective data.
2) Most suitable research methods for topic” Marketing approaches in Real Estate companies in Riga”
In this research aim will be to explore what are the common marketing strategies which real estate companies utilize in Riga and what they aim at. Methods will be used on three biggest real estate companies in Riga- Latio, Arco and Ober Haus. Further will be explained most suitable research methods in order to achieve goal to get to know scheme of
According to Yin (2003), there are two types of research approach. This includes quantitative research approach and qualitative research approach. A quantitative research emphasizes on transforming the data to numbers, quantities and statistics to formulate facts and to uncover patterns in a research. It addresses research purposes through empirical analysis that involve numerical measurement, the relationship between variables and analysis approaches (Zikmund et al., 2010). The sample size being investigated is typically large (Anderson, 2006). Quantitative research mainly uses questionnaires, surveys and other equipment to collect numerical or measurable data (Anderson, 2006). On the other hand, a qualitative research typically emphasizes words more than numbers
Research methods are “the various specific tools or ways data can be collected and analysed, e.g. a questionnaire, interview, etc.” (Neville, C, 2007).
Quantitative research methods are best because they use quantity data to obtain results from the population of interest. This for example can be bases on what the majority feels. The method uses measures in the view and opinion of others and who feels them the most or less. This method can be chosen at random representing the population of interest. They collect their data by telephone interviews, online questionnaires, and sometimes on the street. This is usually the final and best method to go to when choosing a course of action. This is best to research something further and usually comes after Qualitative research.
The researcher will look at different methods and decide which should use to gather the information required to answer the hypothesis questions. These methods may both include quantitative and qualitative approach such as interviews, questionnaires, conducting experiments or gathering data through statistic. After choosing appropriate methods, the researcher will investigate possible ethical implications, validity and reliability of the data collected.
Two of the research methods that are used on a regular bases are the qualitative and quantitative research methods. Each have their own advantages and disadvantages and are used based off of the define research problem and what answers the researcher is aiming or prepared to discover. Not all research and data are created equal and neither are the methods that are used to collecting and analyzing the data.
The purpose of this paper is to outline how differences in consumer psychology affect the marketing of real estate. For this purpose I have used the different theories of motivation, values, self and self-identity. Through the help of literature review on these theories, and through interviews of three different customers, I have tried to identify the link between a customer's psychology and his/her choice of residence. The three respondents are of varying backgrounds, ages and occupations and so are their choices in real estate. Each customer's ranking of the five options presented to them reflects a number of things about them. They show what drives customers towards making certain choices, how the backgrounds of each person and other demographic factors such as age, level of success in life, education, occupation and lifestyle affect their personalities which, in turn, affect the choices they make. I have also attempted to link the values certain customers have and how they influence preferences. Finally, after a complete analysis of our three respondents, I have given reasons for their choices and attempted to create certain customer profiles that marketers must spot, and the kind of products they could sell to these customers. Certain marketing tactics have also been included for different customer profiles. And in the end, I have given recommendations to marketers concerning what needs to be changed in the way they market products and the products
Research methodology is a way to systematically solve the research problem. It may be understood as a science of studying how research is done scientifically. In it we study the various steps that are generally adopted by a researcher in studying his research problem along with the logic behind them. It is necessary for the researcher to know not only the research methods/techniques but also the methodology (Kothari, 2004).This chapter discusses the research methodologies and generate relationship among the objectives of this research and the strategies of the study.
Quantitative research methods comprise surveys: questionnaires or interviews and experiments: field or laboratory. Surveys are the primary method of quantitative research. Quantitative studies use statistical analysis to determine if significant differences exist between groups (Carpenter, Harding,
Examining research problem using qualitative methodology are basically non-numerical and show great diversity. It involves any form of human communication which could either be written, audio or visual. The qualitative methodology used in solving problems, or explaining what actually happened. However, using qualitative methods to examine the research problem involves two activities: developing an awareness of the types of data can be described and explained; and also the practical activities that assist with the kinds of data and the large amounts of it that needs to be examined (Gibbs, 2007).
Within research there are two categories of ways in which you can conduct your study and present you findings. A researcher can either use qualitative research or quantitative research. Qualitative research is more descriptive and narrative in nature than quantitative and uses words and classifications to tell about a situation or subject. Conversely, quantitative research is more concerned with numbers and statistics found. Many different types of research questions can be answered by quantitative research including “What is something?”, “Could there be a correlation between these phenomenon?”, or “Does A cause B to happen?”. A researcher attempting to answer these types of questions could use surveys or experiments to collect data. Then
In this assignment the author has analyzed in detail the concept of different research methods philosophy into their existing theory.
There are many research methods used to gain information, but it is important to use the right one to ensure that you get the best results possible.
In qualitative methods, the relationship between the researcher and the participant is often less formal than in quantitative research
For every research project that is carried in order to develop, refine and advance the factors relating to the research is followed by a set of research methodology that help reach the objectives in a systematic way. Depending on the nature of the researches the methodology is selected respectively. There are different types of research methods as follows: Quantitative approach and Qualitative
There has been a widespread of debate in recent years regarding the quantitative and qualitative research methods, wether one or the other has to be emerged as superior. Although there have been so many theories and conclusions, this paper intends to discuss on the similarities and differences between the qualitative and quantitative research methods. Also the effect of foundational belief system, sampling approaches, data collection strategies and which data analysis procedure is suitable for qualitative and quantitative research method is discussed. Finally the paper is concluded by discussing the analysed data.
