Greece is a very old and well known country. Greek food is very well known. Most people only know about gyros and hummus but there is more. Greek mythology is also important to them. Many people know about Greek mythology, but not the real stories, and, sometimes some people make names with it like Nike. Greeks also like many different sports like football, basketball and have won the UEFA European Championships four times. I think that Greece is a pretty nice country with many interesting things and it is also an important country because it is well known.
Greek food has become eaten in many places around the world. The one food item that they use the most in cooking is olive oil. They use it in many different dishes and sometimes as dressing.
In “Bacon’s Declaration in the Name of the People”, Nathaniel Bacon lists every major offense of Sir William Berkeley, many of which collide with one another to display how the governor’s actions and inactions built upon each other to create turmoil for the people of Virginia. However, Berkeley defends himself and proclaims Bacon a traitor in, “The Declaration and Remonstrance of Sir William Berkeley his most sacred Majesties Governor and Captain Generall of Virginia”. In order to gain the king’s favor, both men write separate declarations, but one has everything to lose while the other has everything to gain.
Macy’s is a company that is embedded in our national pass times and has become more than just a retailing store. Its long history of retailing is over 150 years old. It was founded in 1843 by Rowland Hussey Macy in Harverhill, Massachusetts and was not originally a retailing store. Originally, Rowland targeted the mill industry and it employees and opened four dry good stores. Unfortunately early success did not come for Macy as the company’s first stores actually all failed. Luckily, Mr. Macy was a resilient man who learned from his early mistakes and realized that his target market for this type of store was not mill employees but a higher end clientele. He opened his new store “R.H. MACY” on Sixth Ave between 13th and 14th Street with the trademark star flying high. Mr. Macy had used his tattoo that he had on his arm when he worked in Nantucket on a whaling ship, the Emily Morgan. This was a success for Mr. Macy and as his company grew so did his tactics and innovation on bringing in new customers. He was the first to implement theme exhibits in his stories as well as illuminating window displays which was new tactics in the late 1900’s. He was also the first store to use publicity devices to bring in new customers and since they did not have modern communication he used “Santa Claus” as a public figure to draw in customers. Unfortunately Mr. Macy would not see the 20th century and passed away.

The culture in Greece differs from America’s culture obviously, but in Greece the culture is influenced by the traditions that people have. The culture in Greece is not just focused on one thing, but everything there is part of the culture the way the people live, the food, the music, and basically their lifestyle. What I think is a main part of and what makes Greece what it is today is the history. The history in Greece is responsible for the culture in Greece today because they would’ve never thought of the food or the fashion. Back then Greece was famous for the way they dressed.
Greece has contributed to our history in battle and in mythology. They came up with all sorts of tactics and strategies to help them advance in warfare. They had iron weapons, a phalanx and so much more. People always hear stories about Sparta and Athens battling. There are tales of Persia and the Underdogs. We hear of invasions and wars. But most of all, we hear of victories, and celebration. We hear about economies being rebuilt and jobs being restored.
This summer, I had the incredible opportunity of taking part in a program called Greek Summer, run by the American Farm School in Thessaloniki, Greece. This program takes its participants on a vast physical and personal journey throughout Greece, including hands-on lessons on agriculture, a home stay in a rural Greek village, and a tour around the most important archeological sites of the country. It was on odyssey of personal examination and growth, as well as a unique social experience that pushed me out of my comfort zone in the best of ways.
When people wonder about Ancient Greece the first thing that comes to their minds is Greek mythology; gods and goddesses that have helped shape many historical events. “In ancient Greece, stories about gods and goddesses and heroes and monsters were an important part of everyday life.” (“Greek Mythology.”) The civilization showed that numerous characters and stories helped shape Greeks. The beliefs the Greeks had with mythologies was they understood the meaning behind all the characters that are known today. However, to the Greeks, they were not just characters, these were their gods and goddesses who gave them meaning and understanding of the world around them. Worshiping the gods and goddesses helped them with their religious rituals and the temperament of the weather. A famous wine-jar that was made during this time period was “Achilles killing the Amazon Queen Penthesilea, 540-530 BCE, black-figured amphora”. (Khan Academy) The civilization that they lived in grew around their worship and achievements.

Greece is dominated by the Greek Orthodox Church. And st, Nicholas, is the patron saint of Greece, with a primary role of protecting sailors and seamen.
In the year of 1906, the Holy Trinity-Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church was established in Birmingham. When first created, the church’s population was minimal, but has continued to grow ever since. The Greek Church focuses on creating a personal relationship with God and discovering what the Orthodox faith has to offer. Throughout the years that the church has been open, many people from across Alabama have come to listen to unique services and participate in an unforgettable experience.
Greece was a beautiful country of the arts. Ancient Greece’s time was around 2000 to 30 B.C.E. Ancient Greece’s people had to deal with mountainous lands, making it hard to live there. Though these causes were against them, they survived and had beautiful and dramatic plays, arts, and architecture. Civilizations refer to the cultural and ethical values that sustain a given society. Each civilization is a cultural entity that brings together a more or less conscious sense of unity, and that groups in its bosom several different nations and individuals. In my opinion, living in either civilization (Greek or Roman) as a women would've been quite difficult. However, if I were to choose between both civilizations, it would definitely be Ancient Greece, as it closely resembles our current one.
Greece is the home of the Olympic Game; Olympic game is popular in Greece, also across the world. People love to travel there because of the sport facilities; in 2004 Greece hosted the EUFA Euro 2004, and people love to go there because of the sport events.
