ROMEO $ JULIET
(? should this continue to be taught in 9th grade?)
I feel Romeo and Juliet should continue to be taught in 9th grade for many reasons, Romeo and Juliet have conflicts, love and drama, one conflict in this book is juliet drinks a
“Potion” from Friar Lawrence and falls into a deep deep sleep, and her family find her and think she died but they did not know she was just sleeping, but the worse part is Romeo the man she
“Secretly” married found out and was in tears about the tragic news about juliet, so he decided to drink poison and make his way to where juliet was lying, so romeo can die next to his wife.
Romeo and Juliet also has lots of love for example Romeo and Juliet were so in love they did not listen to there family
Juliet took a Potion that put her into a deep sleep, which in result made her family think she was dead. Also making Romeo think the same thing, he went to her grave site to take his own life, there he had an encounter with her fiancé, Paris, and they engaged in a fight and shortly after killing Paris Romeo took his own life. A short time after Juliet awoke from her deep sleep she discovered that her husband and fiancé were dead and took her own
Firstly, the novel, Romeo and Juliet should be taught in the ninth grade curriculum because in the novel, teenagers tend to make mistakes, usually mistakes that relates to relationships. Young teenagers usually make decisions without thinking of the consequences. For example, Romeo and Juliet got married at such a young age in which they did not understand of the consequences that might occur in the future. The story of Romeo and Juliet can make a massive impact on a young teenager’s life, the decisions Romeo and Juliet make are similar to the mistakes we make in today's society.
Should Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet be or not included in the ninth grade curriculum? So many people have been having this argument for a long time because Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet is just a play that is very controversial today. Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet should be included in the ninth grade curriculum because some of Shakespeare’s other plays allow the people to analysis their lives and Shakespeare has allowed people to see what teens could do for Love. In the News Article Kentucky inmates turned actors explore selves through Shakespeare play it was so many reasons why Shakespeare should be allowed to taught in schools because if inmates that are serving life sentences or just 25 years in prison can understand and relate to his
The teenage couple was destroyed when they found out that Romeo was being exiled. Friar Laurence gave them hope, he told them about this plan that sounded as if it were out of a movie. He gave Juliet a potion that would make her appear dead. Friar was very aware of how much Juliet loved Romeo so he knew she would drink to him The potion could have killed Juliet, but she drank to Romeo anyways because she had faith that Friar would never give her poison. He had married the two lovers incognito, they both trusted Friar to keep their marriage a secret.
“Did my heart love till now? forswear It, sight! For I ne’er saw true beauty till this night.”(I.v.50-51). In fair Verona, a pair of star crossed lover from two different households take their lives over a misunderstanding that ends the feud and their parents rage. So should this play still be taught in freshman english at Niles West. Romeo and Juliet should be taught freshman year at Niles West because it shows typical teenage behavior, true love, and bad parenting.
Shakespeare has created more than 500 words in the English language that we use today. Romeo is from the Montague family and Juliet is from the Capulet family. When Romeo and Juliet see each other they fall in love. They keep their relationship a secret from their parents. Then at the end Romeo and Juliet kill themselves because they preferred to be dead then not together. I believe that Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet should be included in the 9th grade curriculum.
Romeo and Juliet should still be taught since it’s relevant because there still are rebellious teenagers. Juliet thinking that she
Romeo and Juliet, the love story that influenced many movies, tv shows, and stories based on the main idea of “star crossed lovers”. Honestly, Romeo and Juliet should definitely not be taught to 9th graders because it has nothing to do with teenagers’ lives now and days and cannot be connected in any way possible. It also isn’t even one of Shakespeare's better plays, Shakespeare has many other wonderful plays that should be read in place of Romeo and Juliet. 9th graders should be taught about more of Shakespeare’s work so that they can read an actually well written play that wouldn’t make the teenagers groan when they're told they have to read it, that also contains a good and interesting story line.
Throughout William Shakespeare's play, Romeo and Juliet, the characters represent opposing views on love. Shakespeare did this in order to allow each person in the play to have someone they could relate to and show that not everybody feels love the same way.
Romeo and Juliet still has a great impact on peoples’ lives. The themes are relevant, Shakespeare had invented a lot of words and phrases, also in Romeo and Juliet, and great for education. These point proves that Romeo and Juliet it relevant today.
Romeo and Juliet one the most famous stories about love by William Shakespeare. Romeo and juliet were a pair of star crossed lovers who were destined to take their lives, for the sake that it will end a feud between their two families. Romeo’s family were the montagues and Juliet’s family were the capulets. If Romeo and juliet wouldn’t of killed themselves for the feud, they wouldn’t of been of happy together. Romeo was so quick to act in every situation, so he couldn’t really control his emotions. Both of them barely knew each other , and they only knew each other for four days and only loved each other for beauty. I don’t even think Romeo and Juliet truly even loved each other.
These were just a few of the many reasons that schools shouldn’t be teaching Romeo and Juliet and if you ask any students i’m sure you would hear a few more. If schools took the time to look into other works of literature for students, they may find something that is better suited to our society than something written
Students should read Romeo and Juliet in their freshman year because it teaches life lessons that can be beneficial for the rest of their lives. For instance, “The story prompts the audience to reflect on how pride, regret, a lack of mutual understanding and interference from the outside are obstacles to resolving con icts peacefully”(Janmohamed 380). In summary, the play pulls on a person’s emotions so that they will assess their life and make connections to try to change their personalities for the better. In high school, there are a lot of social conflicts that result from petty behavior and a need to prove one’s self. Another example is, “Once blood has been spilled, we are never sure if peace can be restored”( Janmohamed 380). This is referring to the fact that, the Capulets and Montagues refused to end their feud until it was too late and Romeo and Juliet were dead. This can teach kids that they shouldn’t hold a grudge and ninth grade is a great time to do it because teens are starting at a new school where there is more drama and more pressure to do things that a teen may regret. All in all, it is imperative that high school freshmen read Romeo and Juliet so that they can learn life lessons that can help them through high school and the rest of their lives.
In modern times Romeo and Juliet is irrelevant due to the fact that society has changed. We are more technologically advanced, also social status does not decide to whom a person can marry, and as well as people are not as cultural suppressed as in Shakespeare’s time. Modern society is light years away from the closed minded ways of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. This story does not correctly depict life lessons in modern times. It is very outdated and old fashioned to say the
Romeo and Juliet deceive others due to the poor guidance they receive about their situation. They resort to deceit as a resolution for their desperate situations. Friar Laurence performs their secret marriage as he believes that this alliance could ‘…Turn [their] household’s rancour to pure love’. Juliet is later forced to marry Paris and asks the Nurse for assistance. The Nurse replies that Juliet is ‘…better in this second match’. The Nurse helped Juliet to marry Romeo but as the situation becomes tricky, she betrays Juliet and encourages her to marry Paris; she provides poor guidance in doing so. This poor advice convinces Juliet to consider a plan involving a ‘desperate… execution’. This desperate execution is provided to Juliet by Friar Laurence who provides Juliet with a potion that puts her in a sleep like death. The Friar
