I am Andrew Soebagio, from Indonesia. I’ve been a student at North for about a year and a half now. I’m planning to graduate from North this upcoming fall, with an AS degree. A major that I have in mind is Petroleum Engineering; hopefully this plan will stick with me till I graduate.

It is my aspiration to develop software and products that meets the needs of those who use them. When you take a look at the makeup of the tech industry professionals, it is common knowledge that there is a substantial gap in terms of gender and race. As a result, the products and applications created for social, business, or personal purposes created with a male Eurocentric type mindset. One basic idea of creating user products is making sure the product itself represents and attests to the needs of people. When the group creating products shows lack of diversity in identity, this can neglect to meet underlying needs or wants of different groups of people.

My commitment to dedicating a life of service to others has brought me here in the United States from Nepal. This decision to move to a different country was based solely in order to pursue a career in medicine. Influenced by a team of German doctors that resided in Nepal, I moved here at the age of 19 by myself .I bring to the United States the culture, tradition and values from a city called Kathmandu in Nepal. My hometown Kathmandu awakes to the sound of barking dogs, tea-vendors and the unceasing honking of horns and stunning backdrop of 360-degree mountain ranges. I first got involved in theatre when I was 7 years old. It was never something I thought I would be doing for the rest of my life. I had first done gymnastics as a little girl for a few years. Then, I started playing soccer on a soccer team in my community. I started acting at classes down at my local rec center. Then, I auditioned for the musical my first year in middle school and fell completely attached to putting on a big production. Throughout the rest of middle school, I took choir all three years and was a part of all the productions and participated in Drama Club. At the end of my 8th grade year, I was inducted into the International Thespian Society. I decided to get serious about my training after my sophomore year of high school. I started training programs at the Denver Center of Performing Arts with Allison Watrous and other faculty members. The

We are not short of hearing about the significance in creating goals, merely having a vision is enough to steer someone into a reality long imaged. Long before The Secret and vision boards, I read Gloria Steinman’s book, A Revolution Within. She postulates imagining meeting oneself in the future. I have visualized a young vibrant, powerful woman with a number pinned on her chest, her face chafed from the wind, triumphantly passing the finish line.

There comes a time where the bird must “leave the nest,” and that time has come around faster than I could have imagined. One day it was playing outside in the dirt and the next we’re graduating from high school, entering a world that we are hopefully prepared for. I’ve always been one for self-doubting, especially since I would be the first in my family to go to college. I want to further my interests with the education available and achieve the most I can for myself but also for my family.

“Ambition is the first step to success. The second step is action” Always being motivated by this thought cultivated my interest to take Information technology as my major in my graduate studies as I originated from a business oriented family and wanted to bring technology in combination to my current family business in order to sustain in the competitive market. Being addicted to excellence, I believe a good career can only be built above the firm foundation of a good education. Above all, it would be a real benediction to be able to learn under the guidance of the professors at University of Cincinnati. Possessing excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, I am enthusiastic about the next phase of my life,I also hope and believe that I would be able to contribute to the University as well as build a great career ahead.

There are huge illustrations that testify the presence of mathematics in everything that we are doing and in nature all around us. It was that broad exposure that led me to write about the importance of mathematics in our life. First, coming from a different country, and starting off with a different cultural background while searching for college admission in the United States to pursuing my personal academic interests. The road to success was not an easy path for me, but I succeeded in obtaining my bachelor’s degree in mathematics at Jersey City University. After obtaining my B.A., I wanted to pursue my educational achievement to higher degree in Mathematics, but with work and a growing family I had to postpone my dream for a few years. About a year and a half ago while having a fruitful conversation with my brother on returning back school for higher learning in mathematics, and he advised me to look into Piedmont College where its program is designed to prepare students with similar interests as me. I immediately started to look into the program to sort out courses that I need to take until the completion of the entire program. After the submission of my application for admission to Piedmont College, I have received an acceptance letter from this School to welcome me as an official graduated student to Piedmont College. As a child growing up in India the 1990s, it was rare to see a computer in someone's household. Yet my family regarded technology as a necessity on par with food and shelter. My father was a software engineer and he was determined I would become fluent in the use of the family computer as soon as my hands could reach the keyboard. While a toddler, I merely pressed the keys in imitation of my father today I can type as fast as I think.

Living just for existence has never been the objective of my life. I have always looked forward to get the best out of life. With their support, I applied and was accepted to the pharmacy program at BITS-Pilani, a program in which chemistry and biology are so intricately fused that they cannot be separated.
