Individual Book Summary
Book title: Rework
Author: Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson
Summary: The authors of this book started the company 37signals, which is a web-design consulting firm that offers online tools. They wrote this book to help offer their insight and advice on running a small business that are far from the conventional way.
They start out by saying ignore what the real world says, you should do and just do what works for you. Instead of learning from failures you should learn from your successes. You should build upon what worked and if it worked the first time, it’ll work even better then next time. Planning is guessing so don’t stress about making long-term plans instead just focus on what you have to do this week

Grow slow and do what feels right, growing equates to more headaches and stress.
Being small right now provides you with the flexibility and agility that big businesses don’t have. When starting your business do something that is meaningful and important to you and create a product or service that if you stopped delivering people would notice. Scratch your own itch and make a product you need and would use. This is the best way to see what you are offering is actually effective. An idea is just an idea, so start making that idea come to life and stop making excuses. Having no time is not an excuse, if you want to pursue your idea you’ll make time by either not watching an hour of TV tonight or staying up an hour later. Some people will love you and others will hate you, the ones who love you love you for what you believe in so never lose what you believe. Any business can write up a fancy, good sounding mission. Missions need to be acted upon not just written down. Plan Z is accepting any outside money.

Don’t hire until it hurts, until you can no longer go without someone else to take over. Pass on great people if you don’t need them even if they are great you’ll find yourself creating artificial work to keep them and this is more money towards your costs. Hire slowly and create an environment where people are comfortable challenging others and having conflict. If everyone is strangers appeasement happens. Don’t hire from resumes because they are not personalized to your business rather hire based on the cover letter. Don’t hire based on years of experience, education, or GPA it takes six months to a year to understand the foundation of a position and instead of hiring how long you should check to see how well. Hire managers of one, who figure things out themselves and don’t need direction. Hire good writers because it shows qualities of clear thinking, good communication, and understanding. Test out employees before hiring by assigning a 20 to 40 hour project to see how they work and handle certain situations.
If you do something wrong own up to it genuinely to customers and don’t try to hide because everything will eventually get out. Speed changes everything when dealing with customers whether is via phone call or e-mail. Even if you don’t know, respond with “I’ll do my research and get back to you.” Make sure everyone gets experience
* Ensure that the well being of the customer is your first priority i.e. a doctor is called, they attend and help the customer
I think we need to build better relationships with our customers. With our current customers, it seems as if we are constantly just a one-time kind of business. We do not want to be that, we want the customers to return because they trust us. Not because they consistently have problems even with our help.
A company that deals with making web site and web business solutions is known as Quality web design is. The company provides its customers to provide an opportunity so that they can spread their business through the internet. The other business solutions accompanied are accounting, payroll marketing, also parts of the business process and for which it assets are employed. If I were Dinah, after talking to my manager and getting a response that he/she was not going to do something about the matter, I would have gone to another manager in the company regarding the issue. This would have allowed them to come up with a strategy to communicate the error to the customer, have a plan on how they could fix the problem and keep the relationship with the customer in tact while also not affecting the existing customer base.
Listen fully to what the customer is saying. Try to gather all the facts about the complaint and write them down. Ask questions and summarise what that are saying.
One of those includes planning everyday in advance. This means making a list of goals for the day every morning, as well as making lists of goals for the week, month, and year. This helps you visualize exactly what you need to and when you need to do it by, making your objectives more clear. A quote in the book that stood out to me is “Planning is bringing the future into the present so you can do something about it now.” Meaning that if you do not plan, you are not properly preparing yourself for what there is to come. After making these lists, you must use rules such as the 80/20 Rule, the ABCDE Method, and the Law of Three to help in prioritization.
Recently I have noticed more consumer complaints from poor service, more specially, service mistakes and customer mistreatment. When a mistake occurs, we do not handle customers in a courteous manner. In addition, we play favorites with customers and some of them are not getting the attention they require. To
I’ve mentioned before that communication between us is the most important thing. Regarding the existing customers, I have to admit that it was 100% our mistake not to provide you with as much information as we could. My question is, if you’ve called the existing customers before (this was the second or third time you were calling the existing customers) what exactly did you ask them on the phone if you were not aware of the project (for example what did you ask Kingsleigh Primary School as more or less you didn’t have any kind of information in your system).
Numerous large businesses that are operating today were once started as small businesses. A new business is established to create a good or service that no other businesses have ever created or simply a product of higher quality than existing products, with the purpose of meeting customers’ needs and earning profits. Due to the technological advances at the present time, starting and operating a new business is less laborious. Nevertheless, would-be entrepreneurs should be familiar with the proper approaches to start their businesses.
How shall I start IDEATION should be the first investment of anybody who seeks to be an entrepreneur. Indeed, it maybe said that business starts and proceeds with the process of ideation, of thinking things through carefully, of asking very fundamental questions and giving the clearest answers to them, of formulating alternative plans, and of organizing ideas so that they can be easily translated into effective action. II. What business should I be in A. Personal Considerations The fundamental and long lasting basis for going into a business is delight in it. It has to be something you enjoy. It should give you the chance to deal with people you generally like dealing with. It should afford you the chance to do things you have always wanted to do, as well as go to places you like being in. It must challenge your creativity and entrepreneurship ability. Most im portant, it must lead to self-development, or the development of certain desirable human qualities that are latent within you. Another starting point for business would be the talents

Aim to train, encourage and provide opportunities for willing people. Make training the last thing your company cuts back, never the first. Try to allocate a percentage of revenues to train employees.
Your customers judge your business by the people you hire to work for you. From the sales person behind the counter, to the cook in the kitchen, you must do your hiring with your customers in mind. In addition
