The transformational box model for Carey Counseling Center would include the input portion including the person suffering from any of many mental health issues. It would encompass the resources Carey uses to identify mental health crisis and the staff Carey utilizes to deal with the initial episode. Finally there is the technological portion Carey utilizes to ensure the most advanced services are being provided. The second step in the T-box assessment includes the processes Carey would utilize to deal with the mental health issue the individual is dealing currently dealing with. The first process would include assessing the individual in a process known as same day access (SDA) which is intended to allow same day access for services.

Constant assessment of the clients’ problems and cognitions is very important in evaluating if techniques are being effective. Often in the beginning there is an extensive interview process that can last several hours. This interview gives the therapist insight into the client’s past, what the current problems are, and client goals. The interview will allow the therapist to set up a structured plan for how the therapy will proceed.
Integrated approach to counseling is when you combined theories to cover the clients’ feelings, cognitive patterns, and behavior (Corey, Theory and Practice of Counseling and Pschotherapy 8e, 2009). Each theory focuses one of these key components of a client but in counseling you need to focus on each of these to fully help a client. The key to integrative counseling is to have multiple theories function in harmony (Corey, Theory and Practice of Counseling and Pschotherapy 8e, 2009).
The ABC model of crisis intervention is a method created by Gerald Caplan and Eric Lindemann in the 1940s. The purpose of this crisis intervention method is to conduct a brief mental health interviews with clients whose functioning level has been lowered following a stressful precipitating event. The ABC model is a problem-focused approach and has been known to work best when applied within 4 to 6 weeks of the stressor. The ABC model of crisis intervention uses a three-stage approach to problem solving. This method allows a counselor to (A) build a rapport with the client, (B) identify the client’s perceptions and cognitions of the precipitating
As a counseling student, it is very important to formulate a counseling theory tailored to ones’ own personality and beliefs. A counselor may choose a single theory to model when practicing therapy or pick and choose components and techniques from various theories, otherwise known as eclecticism. No theory is considered right or wrong. Understanding the different therapeutic approaches are important to effective counseling, however, counselors must also understand their own personal value, view of human nature, human behavior, counseling techniques and the purpose and goals of counseling. Understanding these components along with the different theoretical approaches will provide the counselor with a 9 knowledge of their own counseling, orientation and is essential to not only the productivity of counseling but the growth of the counselor as well.
The counselor intervention that would help the client overcome each barrier is helping client plan out their schedule. The counselor will sit down with the client and organize and prioritize

This week I assisted someone with filling out an application for the counseling center. I thought the experience went well. When I assisted the patient with filling out the application I noticed that the application was long and tedious. I think being able to assist patients with completing an application is beneficial for patients who cannot read or understand the questions. I also communicated with a person that was experiencing anxiety. The patient was crying in my office because she was experiencing anxiety about her diabetes. I discussed with the patient some of the challenges that she was experiencing in her life. I felt that I did a good job with assisting the person and calming her down. I also walked the patient up to the counseling center because she was interested in communicating with someone on a long term basis. At the counseling center the patient picked up an application which I thought was a good solution to her problem. I think I am getting more comfortable with communicating with patients on my own.

Hawkins uses a four-phase model grid for tracking process. Phase1 is where the counselor listens to the person talk and seeks to understand. Phase 2 is where one tracks what the patient is saying and sets the direction and proposes a plan of action. In phase 3 one directs the plan of action from the information provided and seeks to have client take ownership. In phase 4 one supports the commitments to change through arranging for accountability. All of this takes place in an atmosphere that is penetrated by love.
The second section of the transformational box is the processes an organization will utilize to achieve its desired goal. Carey Counseling Center has identified the patient and their need in the input transformational box, and has identified the skilled staff that will complete the treatment plan to achieve the desired goal. Now the processes of assessment, diagnosis and treatment will be enacted. Originally a client who is identified will participate in the same day access (SDA) portion of an intake, which is performed by a licensed counselor aimed at identifying possible treatment issues and goals. Once the intake process is complete, then our psychiatrist and therapist will make treatment team recommendations that will essentially outline
The most frequently utilised evidence based psychotherapy intervention is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT; Beck, 1995). CBT is a goal-orientated intervention strategy, derived from learning theory with principles of cognitive theory (Arch & Craske, 2009). The efficacy of CBT, for a wide range of psychological concerns, is demonstrated extensively in the literature. CBT’s empirical validation has made it a well-accepted choice for psychotherapists seeking evidence-based approaches (Dobson & Dobson, 2009; Granvold, 2011). Therefore, this essay will evaluate a CBT counselling session with a client who presents with a fear of flying. The essay will critically evaluate the advanced micro-skills of challenging, reflection of meaning, and influencing, and how these skills influence the process of therapy. The essay will further utilise Hill’s (2004) Helping Skills Model to evaluate these advanced micro-skills within the stages of exploration, insight, and action, which is based on cognitive behavioural techniques.
School counseling is a profession that may look simple from the outside, but in reality, it is a complex profession that has evolved to become a vital resource for students to have throughout their education. I strongly feel that this is a profession that empowers individuals to make a difference in students’ lives and I am very eager to continue learning and watching myself grow to ultimately become a school counselor.
