The commercial starts out as a boy standing outside of a girl’s house throwing skittles in her window trying to get her attention while yelling, “Katie!” Little does the boy know, Katie and her family are taking turns sitting on the floor catching the skittles in their mouths. As the family moves down the line, a robber, a cop there to take the robber away, and a gopher are joining in. This commercial copies the old, “boy throwing rocks at the girl’s window,” theme. The social media platforms being used is the Twitter hashtag, “#TasteTheRainbow.” Skittles was very active within their Twitter during the Super Bowl LI tweeting at other businesses. US Weekly tweeted a gif of the Skittles commercial at Skittles and said “KATIE! @Skittles’ #SB51 commercial brought the whole neighborhood together.” Using their hashtag, Skittles replied, “All good friendships start with a bag of Skittles
This advertisement was played during the Super Bowl, so the Snickers company knew how important it was to make a great advertisement in order to keep the audience as entertained as possible. Since the Super Bowl is always such a big event, it would have the potential to draw millions of new customers. The incorporation of football in this advertisement keeps the attention of viewers, while showing off the Ethos and Pathos appeals to get the Snickers Candy Bar the endorsement they desired. Although Snickers is a very popular brand of candy already, utilizing the chosen celebrities and the time in which they aired it, adds to the desire of a Snickers Candy Bar.
This commercial uses kairos to reach a large audience. During the Super Bowl, thousands upon thousands of people are tuned in to watch. During time outs and other breaks, commercials are aired to fill in the time. This is a great time for companies to take advantage of the plethora of viewers. This commercial is aimed towards both men and women that are in their mid-twenties to mid-thirties. The Super Bowl audience is largely composed of men and women
The commercial has excellent Kairos. As Americans, the Super Bowl is the closest thing to a cultural event that we can claim. A Budweiser commercial during the Super Bowl is already going to have extreme effectiveness. Beer and football is already a perfect mixture, but they add puppies which basically demonstrates all three of the things American’s love the most. Budweiser knows exactly what they are doing while targeting the Super Bowl audience. Not only are
In a commercial shown this past Sunday during the super bowl featured what is described as a political statement. Although, the owner of the company 84 Lumber which produced this commercial is saying otherwise. Making the statement “My intent was to show that through struggles we will do anything we possibly can to make the world a better place for our children,” 84 Lumber’s CEO Maggie Hardy Magerko said. While she had said, many people are of course taking to social media to express either love or hate towards the company. Some even going as far as to cancel orders with 84 Lumber, because of the commercial. Nonetheless, the commercial aired during the super bowl but was only 90 seconds long and ended
For me among all the Super Bowl Ads, 2014, the most memorable and effective one was the Budweiser’s, “Puppy love” ad. It was a heartwarming story to see an adorable puppy’s determination to hang out and be friends with his favorite famous Budweiser Clydesdale horse.
Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company’s Super Bowl advertisement, “#makesafehappen” released on February 1st, 2015, has received negative attention because of its morbid yet practical depiction of a young boy who has passed away due to a “preventable accident” before experiencing the life in which a teen or young adult would otherwise. The advertisement also uses the death of a young child to appeal to parents; especially the mothers, largely using pathos to raise awareness of deadly accidents which could otherwise be preventable. Logos and ethos, although weak in this advertisement, also raises awareness on preventing avoidable accidents.
The Super Bowl is a major event for many Americans. Some enjoy the game itself, others come for the big party and the delicious food, while others just watch the commercials. This year was the 51st Super Bowl, and the teams who were involved in 2017 were the New England Patriots and the Atlanta Falcons. The New England Patriots previously appeared nine times in the Super bowl, and won five of them. The Atlanta Falcons are from Georgia, and were in one Super Bowl championship. The Falcons were considered the "underdogs" for the game, however, their performance this season in the playoffs gave them a good chance. Their record was 11 wins, 5 losses, but the Patriots had an extreme record of 14 wins and 2 losses.

Skittles, a very tasty and sweet kind of candy. During this commercial this person kept throwing a single skittle into people's mouth one by one. It started out with on person then next thing you know there was another random person. It was funny because the person throwing the skittles had their grandma in the line. After the grandma there was a burglar then a cop who was trying to catch the burglar. Then it ended with skittle's saying, " Romance the rainbow, taste the rainbow."
Each year the SuperBowl commercials generate exceptionally high advertising revenues due to this event's ability to attract a very broad audience. Advertisers pay close attention to the demographics and psychographics of the viewers, looking for an opportunity to speak directly to their core demographic and psychographic segments with clear, compelling and emotionally stirring messages. The costs of producing and airing a SuperBowl commercial are so significant that many advertisers complete extensive tests of their concepts and multiple versions of their ads before choosing the best possible one for the expensive time slots purchased (Vranica, 2012).
