Organizational theory as defined by lumen “studies organizations to identify the patterns and structures they use to solve problems, maximize efficiency and productivity, and meet the expectations of stakeholders. Organizational theory then uses these patterns to formulate normative theories of how organizations function best. “There are four perspectives I am going to give a brief analysis on and they are as follows:
To begin with, Fredrick W. Taylor’s scientific management is a theory of management that analysis and synthesis workflows. Its main objective is improving economic efficiency, especially labor productivity. Taylor believed that with good management (minimum input of energy and resources) maximum output can be achieved. Taylor’s approach is categorized by the bottom up approach since it begins with the worker. Taylor believed that workers’ productivity could be completely controlled and that it introduced systematic selection and training procedures, it provided a way to study workplace efficiency, and it encouraged the idea of systematic organizational design.
Furthermore, Henri Fayol also an early contributor to organizational theory also proposed the administrative theory which is based on administrative processes rather than technical process .the believed that managements hierarchical pyramid structure were to function as the basis of the part of the organization. He clarifies that there must be clear cut top down approach where employees are accountable
