What is government? Government is the governing body of nation, state, or community. Government determines the way any group of people are ran. There a several different types of government used all around the world. In the United States for example, uses a type of government that has three different branches of power. The Legislative Branch is the law making branch. The Judicial branch is the courts and the low enforcement. Lastly, the Executive branch is the presidential branch. “Each has its own responsibilities and at the same time they work together to make the country run smoothly and to assure that the rights of citizens are not ignored or disallowed.” (Osborne) Usually, governments break up the responsibilities into two or more groups. Two very influential writers wrote about their views on government; Lao-tzu and Machiavelli. These writers were in very different times which makes it very interesting to compare their views. Lao-tzu and Machiavelli had very different views on the ultimate purpose of government, the obligations of government leaders, and the main work of the state.

There are four types of governments that are similar and different from each other. These types of governments are national, state, local, and tribal governments. The national government is a form of government that controls the U.S. The state government is a form of government that controls the states within the U.S. The local government is a form of government that has control over a town, county, or district within the state. The tribal government is a form of government that controls tribes within the U.S. All these forms of government are alike and different in so many ways.

District council cover a small area and are more of a local council. The district council are responsible for housing, libraries, leisure and recreation, environment, waste collection, Planning and Local tax. An example of a district council would be winick. Unitary authorities are responsible for all local governments. The responsibilities they have are Education, Highways, Social Care, transport, housing, libraries, leisure and recreation, environment, waste, planning and local tax. An example of a unitary is Manchester. London boroughs is a unitary authority they have the same responsibilities as unitary except from passenger transport. Metropolitan district is also a unitary authority and has the exact same responsibilities as London. An

When looking up the definition of a government it says, “the governing body of a nation, state, or community”(dictionary.com). This helps to understand it a bit more, but what is the purpose of a government. Government has many purposes that keep its people safe and protected, this includes to establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity. There are so many ways that the government is use and there are so many sub categories and even those have categories. Lastly we move to federal government this is one in which the powers of government is divided between a central government and several local governments. There is a authority superior to both the central and local governments which makes this division of powers on a geographic basis; That division cannot be changed by either the local or national level acting alone. Both levels of government act directly on the people through their own sets of laws, the officials, and agencies. In the United States, for example the National Government has certain powers and the 50 states have others. This division of powers is set out in the Constitution of the United States.

I am here by writing this essay to explain, how these organizations in the United States such as the MADD, LULAC, and NAACP can educate and help our fellow citizens of America change laws that might well need to be changed. As well as explaining the common interest these groups are concerned with.

The levels of government are Central, (which involve the Monarchy, the House of Commons, and the House of Lords), Regional, (which involve Devolved parliaments) and Local, (which involve Local authorities, country councils and Metropolitan councils).
